As another commenter already said, for the Qrow/Tyrian/Clover fight it takes a few watch throughs (a lot happens in that fight) but if you watch closely: when Tyrian first joins the fight, Qrow only attacks Tyrian and Clover keeps attacking Qrow. Qrow only teams up with Tyrian both after Tyrian makes the offer and after Clover interupts his attack for the second time. If he didn't, the fight was both Clover and Tyrian against Qrow. Imho Qrow was a bit stupid, but it was a 2v1 fight at the beginning and this way he could survive and then focus on taking down Tyrian. Clover, on the other hand, was far stupider and this plays into the Just Following Orders theme.
@ukaszgrzesik7231
@ukaszgrzesik7231 2 года назад
True. But I would also add that it was understandable why did Clover made such mistake. What did Clover really know about Tyrian? That Tyrian was killing civilians. But not necessarily to be combatant on par with top tier huntsman. It was easy for Clover to underestimate Tyrion, focus on Qrow to knock him off easier on 2v1 and then finish Tyrion. Fatal mistake, but one can see how Clover could made it when forced to make split second decisions. Same goes for Qrow.
@cerberu01

Clover ended up underestimating both, even more because he used to be the lucky one (literally) in any situation, and maybe knowing that Tyrian has fought Krow on an equal footing, and was only captured in a 3v1 , and Krow being a friend (or almost), he should have made better decisions

yes qrow does team up with tyrian, but it is after clover continually kept choosing to attack qrow rather than tyrian. Also, he doesnt really help him, just doesnt worry about him because he knows he cant take them both at once. It did take me a couple of times watching it to actually see that tho, because i really went WTF after i first saw it and made myself break down the scene lol

Honestly I understand why Clover goes for Qrow first. Their semblances cancel each other out. And as far as he knew in that moment he couldn't trust that Qrow would cooperate considering Qrow attacked him with Robin moments earlier. Qrow is the wild card and he can't predict what Qrow plans to so. I think Clover was just planning to knock Qrow out to neutralize the semblance then focus solely on Tyrian. And use his Goodluck to turn the tide of the fight to his favor. And of course he was supposed to arrest Qrow on sight because Ironwood made the wanted alert.

Can I just say that after seeing you react this long to Rwby. You have so many hilarious moments but my favorite ones has to be after you see Clover in the ground bleeding, as the literal light leave his eyes, your only response is “byeee” 😂 Gold, literal gold. That is the most best way someone has ever reacted to Clover’s death EVER. BecuSe that’s how I feel towards Clover in general. I knew from the get go, from the very moment he was introduced when he said that his semblance was good luck that he was going to die. Because what happens with Good Luck? It eventually runs out. And Clover was FAR to cocky for his own good. When he died I wasn’t really sad because you can’t really feel sad towards a character’s death when you haven’t connected with them. Clover is just there. The only thing he servers is a friend to Qrow and that’s it. We know nothing about him other then he’s an Ace Op and that his semblance is good luck. So when he died I was like “oof that sucks, well anyway..” Something that I find interesting that is on realize. Clover said that he trusted James with his life. And because he trusted James and was a good soldier following orders, that’s exactly what he lost, his life.
@minah2328
@minah2328 2 года назад
If you really think about it, all of the Clover/Qrow/Tyrian stuff happened because of Robin. Cuz she just couldn’t cooperate and was the one who decided to start the whole fight in the first place. Qrow was trying to de-escalate the whole situation while they were still in the air ship, and she just had to turn the argument into an actual physical fight. Nothing that happened after that would’ve even happened if she just listened and talked it out like Qrow wanted to.
@user-qe1ys4vj2d
@user-qe1ys4vj2d 2 года назад
You know thats a fair point, however I do have a hard time picturing what happens on the airship. As we are seeing, the Ace-Ops are wired to do a few things, but most importantly, to follow orders. I feel like in Clovers mind, him not arresting Qrow on that ship is not in line with the order, waiting to talk it out with Ironwood or anything that doesnt involve Arresting Qrow and isnt something that I feel Clover is interested in. If you watch the fight, getting medical attention for Robyn isnt the priority, Tyrian isnt the priority, the order is the priority. So to assume after the very interesting decisions made by both sides, but initially with Clover, he chose Qrow over tyrian, do you think the airship ride would have been reasonable?
@minah2328
@minah2328 2 года назад
@@user-qe1ys4vj2d no, I don’t think clover would’ve backed down from following his orders but I do think that no one would have died. Obviously, Qrow was close to clover so he wouldn’t want to fight or kill him. if Robyn would’ve co-operated, she could’ve had a fight with ironwood instead once they got back to atlas since he’s the one who put out the arrest order, and clover would’ve still been alive. Then there could’ve been a chance later for clover to learn from his mistake. Not saying that the way they wrote it is bad, I still like it and I like the way clovers death affects Qrow. I’m just saying that everyone is blaming clover (rightfully) or Qrow (less rightfully) when Robyn should really be the one to blame.
@mkmcdjr
@mkmcdjr 2 года назад
@@minah2328 Sorry but I disagree bc to me Robyn carries the least amount of blame, not "none" but the least. The vast majority falls on Clover & Ironwood for what happened. From a strategic standpoint while what she did wasn't ideal but it was the right one given the circumstances. if Robyn would’ve co-operated and waited to talk to James hoping he changes his mind , which at this point we know that would never happen, she surrenders any kind of leverage as she would be hopelessly out-numbered by the ace-ops and rest of military. but on the airship Clover is the one out-numbered so if they were goning to resist they had to do it while they still have the advantage. Plus Robyn has zero motivation to comply after hearing that Mantle, the one thing we she cares about the most and everyone who live there is going to die. All bc they were abandon by someone who pledged a oath to protect them, by someone she didn't trust from the beginning. And once again the needs and survival of Atlas is being prioritized at the price of the suffering and death of Mantle, Why would she comply? In the end obviously it didn't turn out how the way she hoped it would and she not innocent, but she's not to blame either
@minah2328
@minah2328 2 года назад
@@mkmcdjr my scenario that im posing is working on the assumption that team RWBY would still fight the ace ops so Robyn would not be outnumbered, it would only be ironwood for her to fight. And like you said, ironwood is the one who is truly threatening the thing she cares about so it makes sense to me that she would wanna fight him, not the guy who is just following orders. I understand your point of view but I still think this way could’ve worked too. Like I said, the way the show did it is perfectly fine, so this isn’t really a thing you have to agree or disagree with cuz I don’t have a problem with the show’s way of going about it, just saying that if Robyn wanted to fight for mantle, she should’ve fought ironwood.
@mkmcdjr

@@minah2328 I get what you're trying to but what I'm arguing is if she waited until they got back to Atlas w/ Qrow in handcuffs to take action she would be in no pisition to fight Ironwood as he be surround by not only Colver but the entire milirary so compling would be the most foolish thing she could do. the best outcome would be to do what team RWBY did and ecsape w/ Qrow and regroup w/ the other and come up with a plan to stop Ironwood. sadly it didn't turn out thar way

25:18 The FNDM consensus (THAT I HAVE PERSONALLY SEEN) is that the Qrow Tyrian team up is dumbfounding. A writing ruse to explain how Clover got overpowered and killed. It really doesn’t make any sense, they could’ve just cut Qrow agreeing to teaming up and it would’ve played out the same and be less confusing 😕 22:23 Holldoll rewatching the small amount of Oscar parts is such a mood. I didn’t think it was that crazy on my first watch… I knew it wouldn’t end well, but it was a crazy fight and Tyrion, while untrustworthy, was happy to focus on Clover… On rewatch, I noticed more clearly that Qrow tried to focus on Tyrion, but Clover, following his orders or seeing Qrow as a bigger threat, focused on Qrow… If they knew Tyrion’s semblance, Qrow can’t afford to be left open for Tyrion’s attacks, but Clover put Qrow in vulnerable positions… Qrow almost had no choice but to focus on Clover or put himself at more risk… Generally it was a bad idea, but in context it makes sense… If I had to blame someone for that mess, it would be Clover.

I mean you said before that it's hard to keep track durin the fast fights and most reactors seem to miss this enanimously for some reason (Probably cause their talking etc which is fair enough) But Qrow literally had 0 choice. He was trying to ignore clover and go for tyrian, but clover was ignoring tyrian and targeting qrow. His choice was either take a 2v1 against two very powerful people and definitely die or try and take down clover first with the objectively stronger semblance then take on tyrian in a rematch (I'm not trying to be nit-picky with your reaction or anything, just trying to give another POV) Also agreed that oscar punch was legendary xD
@TheAngelofFate17
@TheAngelofFate17 2 года назад
From what I heard, the Oscar punch was also an animation error. If I remember correctly, Oscar wasn’t to run up and deck Neo in the face from so far away. Because if he has then it’s implied Neo would have stood there and not reacted enough in time to a punch coming from that far away. Apparently, he was suppose to be within inches from her, he was suppose to turn the corner and just be there, making her unable to react quickly enough to said punch but something happened with the animation team and it ended up looking like Oscar was skilled enough to be at a distance and run up and deck Neo from so far away without her reacting in time to dodge it, which we all know she would have been able to.
@HellBent_
@HellBent_ 2 года назад
@@TheAngelofFate17 That does make sense, I've always wondered what the reason behind that sprinting punch was 😂 I like to think it was a mixture of her just being caught off guard with this little boy having the guts to sprint up to her head on without a weapon drawn, but also kinda curiosity to see what he would do since i'd imagine neo doesn't even register him as a threat. that's my headcannon way of explaining why she just straight up lets him punch her directly in the face with 0 resistance after a long sprint build up while battle crying, at least xD

A small detail that this episode helped me realize is that besides team RWBY and a few others, no one knows who Neo is, like she isnt really a major wanted criminal or anything and team JNPR only heard about her from team RWBY

Qrow teamed with Tyrian because Clover was treating Qrow and Tyrian as if they're equal priority targets. When Tyrian first joined the fight, Qrow immediately started focusing solely on Tyrian but Clover kept trying to attack Qrow. After either the second or third time Qrow goes for Tyrian only to get interrupted by Clover, Qrow is finally like "Okay, this isn't working. I need to find a way to remove Clover from this fight" which, in that moment, meant that both he and Tyrian were targeting Clover at once.

@KitsyX
@KitsyX 2 года назад
I had to rewatch to get all the details, but if you watch reasonably carefully, you see that Qrow tries to go for Tyrion 2 or 3 times, then each time Clover stops Qrow and leaves him in very vulnerable positions… If they know Tyrion’s semblance, then all the more danger… Personally, I think Clover made the worst decisions… Robyn and Qrow made some bad choices too maybe and Jimmy Ironhead is a big part of it too, but Clover didn’t have to take his orders so seriously or trust them so blindly… Oh well… I still enjoy the fight though lol.

I love how all the comments sections for this episode is always people explaining what Qrow did. I think the animators needed Qrow to take a swing at Tyrian in that moment where they just look at each other, even if his focus is rightly on Clover. The presumption is that when Neo was “someone else”, she was just an Atlas officer. She can’t talk, so she tends to hide herself as people no one would stop and talk to (like the maid at Jacques party, not a guest).

I’m not sure if you noticed last episode, but a more somber version of Ironwoods hero song played in the background while he made the decision to abandon mantle. It’s a really interesting choice since your right, we are in his villains arc, but he still sees himself as the hero, ‘I will sacrifice whatever is necessary to stop her’ and of course, ‘I hope you do James’ spits ‘I hope you do’

The thing with the whole Robin/Qrow/Clover/Tyrian situation... it's a mess, and i get the differents points of view but... Clover is, as all the Ace Ops have been doing, following orders, as far as he knows what he needs to do is arrest Qrow, and what if for whatever reason Qrow decides to dip and Clover gets blame for... "x"? like, we know that's stupid, but again, the military mentality and also the certainty he has that following Ironwood's orders is the right thing to do is what drives him, it's also why he goes for Qrow first, he wants to incapacitate him first and deal with Tyrian later, bad choice but he's counting on his semblance and is overconfident. Robin? Robin doesn't want to risk going back to Atlas, he didn't trust James before and after hearing abour martial law, sure as hell doesn't trust him now, so she's just thinking she needs to get to Mantle and not let Clover take her and Qrow back to Atlas. The fight... it's a mess of bad decisions of the characters, but i do understand, Qrow wants to deal with Tyrian first, which... that would be the right thing, but with Clvoer attacking him, he can't worry about both of them and win, so he "teams up" with Tyrian until they deal with Clover... he clearly doesn't want to kill him but well... I do understand the criticism of the logic but... everything happens pretty fast for them, not a lot of time to think and they're just... reacting.

@@Mirality Absolutely. Everything this Volume has been driving the characters to this point and everything about it was unexpected, yet completely in character, which is basically the best trick you could hope to pull off when it comes to writing.
