Bad Moon (1996) is one of my personal favourite werewolf films. The werewolf looks incredible and that opening scene is brutal.

Student Bodies (1981), Young Frankenstein (1974), Andy Warhol's Dracula (1974), The Fearless Vampire Killers (1967), Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948), The Bowery Boys Meet the Monsters (1954) to cite a handful of obvious examples. This guy doesn't know what he's talking about.

An American Werewolf In London, Silver Bullet And The Howling Are The Three Greatest Werewolf Movies Of All Time. The Blood, The Gore, And The Great Special Effects In These Films Are Superb With No CGI In Sight. I Have All Three Of These Movies On DVD Along With The Original Wolfman, Wolfen, Bad Moon, And All Three Ginger Snaps Movies.

These are my 3 favorite werewolf movies. Silver Bullet is my favorite. And it’s a gem. I love how crazy hairy the werewolves are in the Howling.

For werewolf horror, feel the best flick is AAWiL. Between the initial attack, the dream sequences, the transformation and the pursuant rampages, it goes for the throat. Especially like how it deftly crafts the character of David Kessler as being so very sympathetic, so you don’t want him to come to harm. But, you know this can only end one way. When it does, it’s a gut punch.

The Howling has always been and still is my personal fave, despite how well-made AAWIL is. I FAR prefer the transformation scene(s) and MUCH MORE LOVE the overall creature design for the werewolves in The Howling…. (I also prefer the story and fun references.) That leads me straight to my other two faves: Dog Soldiers and Bad Moon. The first not lauded enough and the second not even recognized enough.

I still have that Cycle of the Werewolf book that I bought in 83. As much as I love American Werewolf and the werewolf final form, I think The Howling's werewolves have the best look and I have always loved the Eddie Quist transformation the most.

It was mentioned in Silver Bullet how the preacher became a werewolf. He mercy killed his sister. And got smote for that.

A reason is also given in the Cycle Of The Werewolf novella. The reverend picks some "pretty white flowers" which died immediately the next day. Smart money says that's wolfsbane.

It was interesting how pastor accepted his transformation and justified his killings saying he saved the first woman’s soul from Hell by killing her before she could kill herself. I imagine he would say he killed the alcoholic father in the greenhouse because he was drunk abusive father , Marty’s friend breaking curfew flying his kite and then trying to kill Marty because he was engaging in bullying letters telling him to kill himself

Wolf soldier 2002 no CGI. A series no one saw Werewolf 1987 pretty amazing well anything Frank Lupo touched was gold. Still the howling, american werewolf in london and silver bullet are solid werewolf movies

The ppl who say that the Howling is better as a movie/transformation than an american werewolf in london. I don't know what are they smoking. AWIL won a richly deserved oscar and it was the first movie to win a best make up award. The Howling wasn't even nominated. AWIL has the better transformation, likeable characters, blend of horror and humor, somewhat acting, the story I'd say even. The only thing that looked better in the Howling was how the werewolf looked in the end game and even then, awil is more gruesome/ferocious.

While the first howling movie is one of the best werewolf films ever made, I enjoyed the first two sequels as well, one being a bizarre Gothic Acid trip and the other being completely batshit insane. Everything that came after though, not so much.

Gotta differ with you. I'm a huge werewolf fan, and a big Stephen King fan since I was a teen in the seventies, and I find Silver Bullet kind of tedious. It's almost like a gory, more profane Goosebumps episode. American Werewolf is a masterpiece, of course, and The Howling is damn good. Other greats (in no particular order) would include GINGER SNAPS (and I mean the full trilogy when I say that, as the makers took an entirely different and original tack on the story and visuals in each film and each is awesome), DOG SOLDIERS, THE WOLF MAN (Chaney) and its underappreciated-but-great remake THE WOLFMAN (del Toro), Hammer's CURSE OF THE WEREWOLF, WER, and THE COMPANY OF WOLVES. Excellent variations on the theme would include WOLF, WOLFEN, THE WOLF OF SNOW HOLLOW, and THE CURSED.

Silver bullet pretty good. I'm actually surprised this is not more known. The only big issue i have with it is that the werewolf looks kinda bad when it's finally fully revealed. The characters and setting is good tho.
