@@schrodingersmechanic7622 Exactly. It's a damn shame they make trucks "luxury" now. That's the problem. Give me a solid steel body, a steering wheel, V8 and a seat that doesn't hurt my ass. I don't need backup cameras, fancy stereo, sliding consoles, designer carpet and folding tailgates with step ladders. I just need a hunk of steel with a bed, motor and steering wheel that can haul stuff. Where's that truck? @weskirkland5850

luxury truck is an oxymoron. If you're chasing luxury you're not chasing a truck. Trucks need to haul as much as possible within limits and all those extras take away from maximum hauling capability.

Eventually, they will have no choice but to come down. The automakers have been "pooling" to keep prices high but most cars are bought on floor plans and that inventory in some cases they are hiding from buyers will result in dealers paying fees on those floor plans. Some of the big banks are pulling out of the floor plan market because they don't want to be holding the bag when these dealers and manufacturers go belly up. They have priced themselves out of reach for buyers.

My RAM 3500 is a fully loaded 2018 and It's going to be my last truck after looking at these new trucks and the prices they are trying to get. The affluent and business owners don't care what they cost because they can pass that cost on to their consumers or right them off as a business expense and drive the best. The middle class and down will take it in the shorts as usual so the upper classes can have their toys.

As you work with a dealership, is there any wiggle room in msrp on the new 2500 or in general, are they pretty much stuck in place? In my area, there’s a new 2024 2500 at4. The dealer says there’s no wiggle room at all on that vehicle 🤔
@BrianMello

Its doubtful you'll see any discounts off the new HD trucks at least for the next few months. They're just way too new, and the demand is extremely high. We had a custom ordered 2500 HD AT4 Duramax hit our website last week, and we received over 25 calls on it the first day. Once you start seeing a few of them sitting on the dealerships lot, that's when you may be able to negotiate some sort of discount.

I bought my last truck two years ago. I bought a GMC Silverado Crew Cab LT. it was $52,000 out the door, I got it prior to them getting crazy prices. The first thing I did was bought some AT4 Tires and Rims for $1200 but sold the Factory Tires and Wheels for $1000 so it cost me literally $200 dollars for the different Factory Tires and Wheels. It’s all Tinted out from back and all four Sides, a leveler Kit gave it a little boost Higher in the Front, 6.6 Tricked Out Duramax Power Plant paired to the Allison 10 speed Transmission The Truck is The Bright Red for that Year of 21 is sweet, with the small details I did to the truck used it’s value, but I don’t want to pay $90,000 for GMC Truck. This Truck literally got 22 mpg the day I drove it off the lot.

I hate to spoil it for you guys but that’s how factories work. Make lots of something one day, ship em out, make lots more the next day. I worked in a furniture factory in my teens. Hundreds of brand new bedroom suites rolling by day after day. I would wonder “Who the heck is buying all these?” But someone was. And so on they rolled, 10 hours a day, 6 days a week, on and on and on.

As a former GM employee, I can tell you that 20% of GMs business is to its own employees. They get employee discount on all new vehicles (plus all rebates). With a good trade (like my 2019 Trail Boss) combined with discounts, I would only have to finance around 28K-30K on a New "loaded" 2023. My payment being in the $400-$500 range. This is how a lot of GMs Sales go during tough economies. This is in Ohio right now which is a state with the highest price's for new vehicles.
@HarryManback0
@HarryManback0 10 месяцев назад
I've priced out the employee discount to be around 10% on a Canyon AT4. That's absolutely ridiculous in my opinion, I would expect at least 20% as a baseline discount.

Those of us that have Great Credit are the ones sitting on the sidelines/not buying anything. Between interest rates and dealer-markups, we're too smart-to get lured into $1,200/Month Truck payments. Twice the amount I paid for my new 2016 f-150. The only ones buying regularly, are the ones writing-off these prices/as a "Business-Expense"

15% of the market is the cash buyer. Eventually, enough people will be unable to obtain credit and that 15% is all they will have left to buy their products. They will soon come to revisit the law of supply and demand. There "executives" will wind up ruining the car companies and the new Chinese owners will fire them first.

Before this comment from GM management, the head of GMC Truck marketing I think it was, told a reporter that all the technology that consumers demand in pickups was the driving force behind high prices. I took that as people who don't need a pickup, that can't drive a pickup and needing all the driving aids crammed into one, was the reason. Pickups were fine with power windows, locks, air conditioning and a backup camera. The electronic driving aids, trucks being made unnecessarily large for no reason, people buying them just lack driving skills.

I had a paid off vehicle for about five years. Last year I bought a used 2020 GMC AT4 that cost more than all my previous vehicles combined. For a used one and was happy to get it. It’s by far the nicest vehicle I’ve ever owned and came with all the chips so I was happy. Previous owner put really nice tires on it he had windows tinted and I added a few more perks. The 6.2 has great power. Fully loaded with every options I thought I’d never have. But it is expensive. I feel like I’m in a vehicle purgatory now. Bit the bullet. Paying. Don’t know what else I would’ve wanted to buy. Locked in with a 3% interest rate. I suppose a new Tundra but they’re even more expensive and didn’t have some of the stuff i wanted that the GM had. If truck prices keep going up with inflation this might’ve been an investment.

It doesn't matter what she says. GM doesn't sell to the public. They sell to dealerships. As the over priced vehicles stack up on the dealership lots, there will be less sales for GM. Also, a big chuck of the sales the big three have seen lately are fleet sales. Unless you absolutely have no choice, do not buy any vehicle this year.

Prices of vehicles will never at any point in time be as low as in 2019 and earlier. Dealers know they will always be able to sell what they have. Most people prefer to have new vehicle, run it in ground then trade in on a new vehicle.
