Heyo! The hardest difficulty is Very Hard, and I did do a let's play of it right here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZWMxe7lfXvQ.html
I don't understand why the Red Shield enemy was removed from the game. In the Jotuun edition trailer, there's also their icon in the commander kill stat and they have resistance to level 1 skills and their close combat capabilities are as good as brute I think it's strong and sufficiently differentiated.
Small tidbit I found about Viking Melee vs Pikemen If you're facing either on flat ground with flat tiles adjacent to your Pikemen, Vikings will actually circle/surround your Pikemen and attack them from all angles.
man what a cool game, i wish they add types of units and tech trees like for archers u advance into cross bow men which deal high damage but slower reload time, or slingers that knock enemies out but have less damage, or long bow men with more range for the infantry we can have: javelins, which they would throw before combat, dual wielded swords which make more damage and put them at a better situation against gaints or we have heavy bois bigger shields more hp but slower for pikemen we can have longer pikes but they take time to set, spear men with shields shorter spears but with shields, and and a pole arm upgrade to arm them with halberds and whatever weapons at hand so they can move while fighting and deal more damage than normal but are slower and try to stay in ofrmation
Heyo! I am glad you enjoyed the game and the video. I do hope they either add on to Bad North or eventually start working on something new as this particular RTS style works extremely well. Maybe even have various scenarios, such as a fight in a forest, it could be really cool. There is a lot to expand on here and as I mentioned previously, I do hope there is an attempt on a future idea for Bad North.
Huscarls might just be a guy with a shield, sword and an axe but they are actually really good at melee better than those enemy shields.Even your elite infantry can lose some units to 2 of those guys
@@BrainstitchTV also I know a game you should play after your done with bad north it's mount and blades war band it's pretty cheap and pretty fun but you should look at videos about it before you play it to see if you'll like it
@@mulipola10 Oh yes I do own Mount & Blade, M&B: Warband & With Fire & Sword. I just checked on Steam that M&B 2 Bannerlord just came out recently and it looks really good. Will definitely check them out as the last time I played something similar was in 2005 with ROME: Total War.
I won't lie, when I first played this game, i thought the brutes were just supposed to be ghost like enemies since they have a lighter color pallette for their design & didn't seem affected by arrows, so i sent my infantry force to deal with them & watched as they got demolished by the by the jolly grey giant! Fortunately i didn't lose the commander, but honestly looking back at it, it was a really nice detail that the devs added to the design of the brutes to make you underestimate them when u first encounter them. Definitely gonna take notes for that if i ever make my own game.
Every time I hear those god forsaken ballista bows, I get PTSD every single time from how devastating they are Whiiiiich is why I automatically run fleet footed infantry at any possible interval lmao
from your personal experience, what is the hardest combo of boat placements/wave compositions you've ever encountered? in terms of 2 or 3 units, i find brute archers with ninjas and huscarls as escorts to be the most challenging, since they sort of cover each other's weaknesses
Heyo! I think it does depend on what composition of commanders you are running, same goes for what traits and items you are using. Any type of enemy can become overwhelming sometimes, even regular enemy militia can run rampart through your island before you realise what happened. Initially, I do feel that several waves of Brute Archers from various angles becomes an issue especially on a flat island that doesn't have many places to hide your units. I think the best way to deal with that is to have two elite infantry squadrons, with one commander with the Ironskin trait, perfectly places mines and eventually a great use of the Warhammer.
@The Brainstitch Chronicles honestly brute archer/ninja feels like another generally threatening combo that you must use abilities on in order to survive, generally brute archers + anything that you wanna deal with before it reaches the shores becomes much more threatening
The way to fight brut archer : none, run, fast, get cover 💀 Thanks.. at least I know I'm not that stupid, I thought I was the only one didn't found a counter
Moral of the story, Just get exp long pointy stick boi's and heavy bow boi's with 1 vanguard to beat the game with 12 man unit upgrade and you'll be fine lol
The game is basically rock paper scissors with extra steps :) i love it to death shame the chinese are blatantly parodying the concept in their scam of a game and their dumb as hell ads
I totally understand you. I am currently working on a review for Bad North, and the way I see it is: The game holds true to its minimalist style and offers half of a Real-Time Strategy Game experience, the micro-management side. It has a lot of potential to expand from what it currently is, and I do hope it either gets some updates or the developers build something new from this idea. Thanks for checking my content out!
The things bad north should have: Bring back the berzerkers. Have icons on the non-trait commanders Have a new island type (armory: eg: phalanx upgrade for pikes, giving them spears and kite shields, making them a pike/infantry hybrid)

The red shield enemy (Berserkers) would've been a great addition to keep in the game for more variety but they were eventually changed to the dual wielders.
