You're so right. Over my last few years of accumulating items and traveling I've learned that the designer bags/ items sent to the states (for authentic sale) are of lower quality than what is actually sold in Europe.

Di “legitimate” companies also use factories that have child labourers. Of course, Chanel bags are made in France, Spain, Italy by artisans, but not all luxury companies do this. Some do use factories who hire cheap labourers in Asia. Most notorious are companies that make fast fashion - I’m sure all of us have at least 1 item in our closet made by a child labourer. But to be honest, for the really good high end replicas, how can a child make such high quality items? I don’t think it would be children, but more likely adults in poor working conditions who cannot afford to not work due to poverty. The factories can change conditions, but have to increase the prices and pass it on to the companies - the companies will most likely refuse to use that factory and will likely go to a cheaper one that doesn’t protect its workers. So the cycle continues. These factories fight for contracts so there is competition amongst them - who can produce the most for the cheapest price. Some companies of course do “ethical” fashion but the consumer ie you and me, have to pay more for that. So that means “legitimate” companies also use the same factories as the replica makers. The factories most likely make replicas because they have the same set of skills to make authentic products. This is just my view. You can do your own research by googling “ethical fast fashion” and only buy from companies that have transparent business practices.
