So beautiful. Takes me right back to the eighties when I had this album on tape, was listening to it constantly. This and Joao Gilberto, the album of the same name. Which is also incredible, though I think most of his other albums are ruined by the awful orchestral additions (Jobim's hand?). In fact, as far as I know, it's the only Gilberto album that DOESN'T have these additions (please correct me if I'm wrong, would love to discover one without it). Don't know why he/they did that, the whole beauty of the album joao gilberto is the simplicity: guitar, vocals, soft drums... Seems perfect for Bossa Nova, to properly express saudade, tristeza, etc. That's also what I love about this Baden Powell album (L'Ame de... as I came it know it). Very little interference from post-production additions. Guitat, bass, vocals, drums, percussion. No flutes and violins! Some of Powell's albums suffer from that too unfortunately. Anyway, I ramnble, but thanks a lot for posting.
If you don't enjoy orchestral backings to João Gilberto's music - and I must say I don't agree with you on this - you should listen to his 2000 album "João, Voz e Violão, which features only João, singing and playing guitar by himself.
