Insanely beautiful....all of it !....there are no words to describe this music from the grave....none !...deep heartfelt gratitude it was finally released.
Can you imagine what a couple of months would have produced? Wish You Were Here is a masterpiece and its production took a few months to accomplish. It's like the band knew Polley was going to do everything he could do to steal what was advanced for this album.
Bob, thanks for posting this great song of yours! This sounds the best i have ever heard it! Let's hope Head First can have an official release very soon (from the master tapes). It is long overdue!
Beautiful song. Regardless of what the band was going through, seemed they could always write righteous music. Bob definitely added an epic touch when he joined
As we've turned these empty pages I have seen the sweat and pain Do we have to waste these ages Going through it all again? Let's forget all the dreams we had They were dreams of yesterday When will we ever learn? When will we turn around? When will we ever learn? When will we ever learn? All that's left now is to keep on hoping We can change the die that's cast I remember how they laughed then But I knew it wouldn't last I've tried so hard to close my eyes But I just can't close my mind When will we ever learn? When will we turn around? When will we ever learn? When will we ever learn? One thing's for certain while we're here Nothing's for sure, only the fear Guitar solo (Pete Ham) I've tried so hard to close my eyes But I just can't close my mind When will we ever learn? When will we turn around? When will we ever learn? When will we ever learn? Hey, yea.
Damn...it sounds a lot like revisiting Bob's early great band, Indian Summer. The vocals are there, the lyrics are compelling. not as dark as Indian Summer but close enough. If the drummer had tuned his drums to a more thuddy, muted sound it would have been sounded like a newly discovered Indian Summer track (but, I admit, I like the drummer's performance here anyway). I like this. Excellent Bob Jackson song.
Such a fantastic band. Even when people say they were a clone of the Beatles. They are wrong. They had the talent, the musicianship, the soul. They were screwed and their souls were battered and beaten. But not their determination to make great music for us.
@ronroe3615 I totally agree with you. I never really got in to the Beatles, ( i was only a small girl when they hit. the UK) I have recently found Badfinger through my favourite Harry Neilson "Without You", when i heard THE ORIGINAL by Badfinger i was blown away!! then i've gone on to get LP's, cd's , read All i can. They as a band with all they went through were so talented with the varied compositions they produced. Such a Huge talent lost to the future of music😥
I wish they began “another” band called Bad Finger, or The Badfingers, or something like that, to skip Polley’s contract (does anybody know if it could have been possible?)
I thought I remember hearing or reading that the individual members had signed with Polley and Warner Brothers (not the band/name)...so the answer would probably be a 'no'. That question may have been asked back when things went sideways, but all speculation at this point...
