How to install the Badger 15 ss Garbage Disposal. Please subscribe to my channel: ru-vid.com... Be featured on a future video, visit: www.launchpadb.com Contact info: Mark@launchpadb.com
This video was excellent! I have been avoiding replacing my broken garbage disposal because I thought it would be too complicated. This video was well done and basically walked me through everything. The hardest part for me was getting the wires to connect to the EZ Cors connector. Thank you sir. PRO TIP: The gasket that connected to the garbage disposal was leaking water. Make sure you adjust it evenly before tightening.
Don’t know if you’re still checking comments on this video (still relevant, still useful), but I just finished replacing my daughter’s disposal, cracked a beer and feel like communicating. I searched for Badger install because I was concerned about lining up my new unit with the existing drain pipe and I’d somehow lost the instruction sheet. Anyhow, that all turned out to be no problem; the turd in the punchbowl appeared earlier, when I was removing the old Badger 1. I got a good laugh when you had to hacksaw the sink/basket flange off, because I ran into a similar (but worse) problem. The triangular plate that fits under and encircles the sink flange was, in my case, rusted tight to that cylinder. It took a full day and about a quart of PB Blaster to free the sucker, plus a lot of vulgar language and a lot of hammering with a piece of 2 X 4. All in the past now, and the new Badger 15SS-3 works fine. Your video was both helpful and fun. Thanks for the moral support.
I can already see I'm going to have the same problem as you. My wife is already complaining about being hungry and I haven't even started..... Thanks for the information.
I must’ve watched 10 videos on how to do this here on YT. Some of them only had music playing, some had bad lighting & some skipped the sink mounting & wiring part entirely. Finally I found one that has all the info that I need and none of the negatives. Also enjoyed the humor that you threw in. So just wanted to say good job & thanks 👍
This video was perfect. From start to finish I followed every step and completed the project in no time! Once I put the disposal in the sink to weigh down the flange it only took me 4 tries!!!! Great job on the instructions!
Such an easy step-by-step install video to follow, it would have taken my twice as long just trying to follow the instructions that came with the disposal...thanks!
You know, I went to even sinkerator RU-vid for instructions on the mounting flange and they skipped right passed it. You got a subscriber in me. Least I know how to separate the sink flange from the mounting bracket. Not when their instructions show you how to remove the ring THANK YOU
You're one of my favorite installation video producers. Great insights and clarifications of the realities that joe schmoes (like me) are confronted with. Big fan, thanks !
I know this is an old video but I wanted to say thanks. I just did an install of this exact disposal. If i had not watched this video I would not have gotten half the stuff at the store I needed. I was also able to do this install without any major issues. Thank you!
Sorry Richard. While not in the video, I did fill the sink completely with water, then ran the disposal to put stress on the connections and saw no leaks. To this day I havent had a single leak either.
Dude! You are the man! This video was perfect at presenting the instructions step-by-step. I followed along and knocked this out in about two hours. The video was also hilarious and kept me laughing while I was installing the disposal. Great job!
Your video was great and actually had the POS Whirlaway that I had to replace. Now I can do it no problem. (I was able to get the ring on the first try but I'll give you the credit) Thanks again!
Thanks for the video, seems pretty easy, I am about to removed and replace mine later today. I saw on the comments that you live in San Antonio, so do I... Small world!
Just wanted to say thank you!! You made it incredibly easier than the 28 step instruction guide. If anyone is reading this, watch this video all the way through first and then follow along. You’ll save yourself a ton of time. Thanks again! Great video.
Don’t want to be critical, but your rubber washer should not be fitted over the discharge pipe ... the rubber washer should go on first, then the discharge pipe, followed by the metal flange. I only tell you this because my first Badger failed after being installed this way.
Thanks Steve. You are the second person to call this out. I mimicked how my previous disposal as installed. I have left as is and haven't seen any issues from it, yet.
If i'm imagining things, please correct me... but it appears you placed the disposal waste line seal over the outside of the pipe and flange (right around the 17:00 mark)... when the gasket included with Badger disposals is supposed to go BETWEEN the waste pipe flange and the disposal discharge outlet. I waited to see how it ended up, and around the 17:45 mark, it appears you tighten the discharge pipe directly against the disposal with no seal between the two.
I had to double check my literature and it shows the waste line seal inserted into the tailpipe opening first, then the provided tailpipe on top of it. The way I installed it on the video is slightly different than the provided instruction, but I have done it this way several times now. I haven't ran into any issues with leakage before since the gasket still forms a seal around the pipe flange and the flange plate. I even filled my sink and ran the disposal to pressure test the seal without issues. Tomato tomatoe I guess.
At the 15:26 mark you say "since you have a garbage disposal you are going to have to knock the cap out" but did you really mean to say "since you have a dishwasher connecting through you are going to have to knock the plug out"?
@@ThisGuyProductions I wondered about that afterward..I realized that's what you probably meant but if it wasn't for you being so thorough I wouldn't have figured that out.
Is the old disposal hard wired into the homes wiring? If so, that is a new one for me. Also, do you have an outlet under the sink for the new disposal?
@@munchieswithmorgan2654 Can you send me a photo of your disposal, and where the wire is running to? Also, if you can get me the manufacturer and the model number. I can do some quick research. mark@launchpadb.com
Installed mine today, however its not turning on. It runs from a switch and not a plug in so I wired it to my switch connection but its not making any sounds
I would check your breaker box to ensure it isnt tripped. I would also verify the breaker on the unit hasnt tripped. Finally, and most bothersome, double check the wiring on the electrical plug in the bottom of the unit.
I'm in San Antonio Tx, so if you are local I can definitely help out. I am not a "certified" repairman though. I also considered hiring someone until I realized it wasnt too complex.
This Guy Ugh, I’m all the way over in Portland, OR. I’ll have to give you some ideas on videos so you can help me remotely. Projects I’m working on: fixing creaky wood floors, fixing old/wonky recessed light, and figuring out what to do with my bathroom door. Bathroom is so small and the door swings the wrong way. Maybe a barn door? Love, love your humor. I’ll watch your videos even if I have no projects to work on!
@@randizimmer2366 Thanks. I'm always open for suggestions. You can use a pocket door, or just change your door to swing the opposite way. Portland is lovely.
This Guy you should make a video about installing a pocket door. If one doesn’t exist already, is it hard to install? My house is only 800 sq feet so I’d love ideas for small spaces.
@@randizimmer2366 It is a challenge to install cause it requires to basically tear out the wall and replace the wall studs. It would require a subcontractor, but would be worth every penny.
Whirlaways are loud, intense sounding and cheaply made in china. All Anaheim disposals are made in china. Names like whirlaway, waste king, moen, general electric etc. are not up to par with the earlier models of back in the day. They are all the same model with different badges. You are better off with an insinkerator and plus they are made in Wisconsin.
Good video but the little pictures are incredible annoying, almost couldn't get through this. Just show us how to do the task and drop the idiotic pictures.
@@ThisGuyProductions i enjoyed the video but i do agree i dont mind the overlays but its the fact you had so many dont get me wrong i hear ya with meme culture but an over abundance is distracting you did have some good ones i think hes just saying it was to many other that great video im goin to my girlfriend's tomorrow to this same install so i def needed the research as im not ultra handy and this was a big help the only difference with her is im not using a cord and running the wires from the plug to the disposal (power and water off of course)
