The final part of the Vectra rebuild. Some of the video clips are a little out of sync, especially the first one due to footage being recorded over a long period. Anyway, the car is now road legal and in use again as a daily driver!

You were luck! Many many years ago. I had a v6 cdx. Satin red and beautiful. Unfortunately, one evening while I was out to dinner my youngest son decided to have a teenage 'flip out', get drunk and take it for a drive. On close inspection of the aftermath, he'd just clipped a kerb, which had blown out the front N/S tyre. But he's continued to drive it, which meant the front tyre was flailing around the wheel arch. Destroying the arch liner and ripping out the alarm box. This in turn had caused an electrical fire which spread back to behind the dash. Effectively wrote the car off as the new cost of replacing the complete loom was astronomical. Beautiful car, FSH from new with every extra. I was furious, as you'd imagine. But his little drive was short, and fortunately he'd managed to not hurt anyone or damage anything else. Sadly, it was just the beginning of a long decline for him that ended his short life just a year later? Life is cruel, life is hard!
Great turnaround on the Vectra, it looks very well indeed now. That rain was something else a few weeks ago, I didn't realise how bad it was and went out in the Cavalier and nearly ended up backwards on the M9 after hitting standing water. Toyo Proxes are crap in the wet!

Seen this car close up today .its a nice looking opel vectra cdx in the flesh Its a nice restoration job .its been 6 years since i have seen a a cdx. It was Good meeting you today dougie .the knowledge you have for these cars is class .Thanks for the tip about the criuse control as well .hope the opel grill sets your vectra off again with the widemouth v6 bumper cheers

great job dude, i did my apprenticeship at vauxhall in the early 2000's and this was always my favourite colour for the vectra's. not often we saw a 2.2 but we got plenty of brand new gsi v6's. the odd cavalier 4x4 was also a treat to work on.
Loved the on the road wheel alignment, going to use that myself in the future next time i need to change a rack end. Also love the Rainsport tyres myself. Had them on my 1800 Corsa C couple years back and they were really good even in the snow.
Great content Dougie and great to see the Vectra road Legal again. I seen the white cavvy in Livi last weekend at a car meet but never put two and two together till I seen it on the video. Looking forward to the next video already.

Was wet most of last week up here in the Highlands. A few day it's been dry this week. I heard there was crazy rain in the south. Good news about the omega. The vectra looks mint now 👍
Nice one Dougie the vectra looks much better those front pipes are a pain I had the same issue with a calibra it kept blowing ended up welding a flexi pipe in place instead of clamps

Looks good with the phase 1 gsi wheels on mate but good idea for the winter to take them off I love a b saloon I had a silver t plate Sri 2.5 V6 what a machine would love another in my life it's just finding a good one greedy on the juice though
Nice work! A shame about the V6 being the donor, I get it. Hopefully the engine and other bits go to other cars. I do like the wheels on that donor Vectra! I'm partial to Vauxhall/Opel, especially since they were GM.
@@OnceDrivenForeverSmitten worth checking the timing belt hasn't jumped a tooth, we used to get the ends of ty wrapping from the factory resting in the V then dropping into the timing gear and acting like an extra tooth. Reset the timing and all OK. If not the cam covers are worth a fortune, and I've seen people fix the inlet manifolds to the garage wall - looks great
Great stuff I have those exact tyres on my Vec b Gsi. Lovely tyres and another great video dude. It's good to watch you keep one of the best looking cars around on the road. Gotta get mine through the CT (French MoT) too just gotta find a cat as mine was Decatted before I bought it.
Those flexi joints are always fartin, I done my cavy one up for MOT, and it loosened up on the way to the station and started fertin, guy let i pass though!
Dougie loving the channel! As someone who owns a 2.6 CDX with beige velour interior can I ask what happened to the lovely looking 2.6 CDX that you robbed panels off for the 2.2 repairs? I would love a black leather interior swap for mine.
You just proved that older simpler cars are the way to go for those of us not interested in "PCP" deals, where you never own the car and if anything happens to it, you pay for everything and your insurance goes through the roof. In Ireland your policy is loaded if your car is over 10years old and virtually no one wants to insure it.

Very good video. I have a question for my first car I wanted a opel Astra h saloon. I was just wondering did vauxhall do the version or should I go to Ireland and get one as they are rhd. 👍🏻
