We've taken a tired Astra CDX 1.6 16v auto estate and converted it to a 2.0 16v Ecotec with manual gearbox. In this episode we get a new air cond condenser and a radiator fitted, new front suspension and brakes and get the engine to fire up. But... not on the X20XEV management, we've had to use the loom and ECU from the C18XE we bought for now while we wait for a new cam and crank sensor to arrive.
The Ashley four branch manifold is designed for the later type X20XEV so we had to cut the end off and reroute it, making a custom exhaust from various pipe fittings, a universal cat and silencer, Sportex race tube and a GM backbox. Still plenty to do but at least it starts and drives and can be moved around under its own power!
The Omega also makes an appearance with a couple of new brake pipes, a track rod end and some rust proofing to get it ready for MoT.
