Hello Kudos Thank you very much for your extremely kind comment on my coaching. I am delighted to know that my clips are helping someone like you. Thank you. Lee

Yes 100% If you fully stop and then make action, you gain everything and you lose nothing. You must try this skill. It will be more powerful, more deceptive and be able to make shot in very small space. Lee

Thank you coach Lee !! By follow your series, my smash is improved a lot in very short time. I had trouble with smash before. I put much force but by wrong actions the shuttle's speed was still not high. Besides, I missed the shuttle many times and accuracy is not good as well. Now, with Lee's techniques, I have got powerful and accurate shots.

The steepness may bit different but if small person jump bit more and move bit faster the disadvantage can be overcome. Lee

I meant change the grip to turn counter-clockwise by 10º like what you said in this video. I don't hit out of bounds anymore with this tip =). Thanks a lot Lee. I also found more power with this change in grip technique.

I do like Lee's techniques very much. Although it is not too difficult to perform (to me, an unprofessional badminton player), these skills are really effective.

You say change it to your "inwards" please check it again. I think it should be "outwards" Probably your racket face used be facing on your left direction if you have not changed your grip. if you change grip 10% to right way your pam and racket face should be facing straight forward. Please check and be careful to not to change it too much(just 10%) I do hope your smash get better with it. Lee

In that case you should get more behind shuttlecocks. Shuttklecock must be in front of your body so you can hit down andf with steepness. Lee

Hi, I just want to try and answer your question before coach lee corrects me :P. 1. Jump smash is one of the hardest skill to master amongst the variety of smashes. One, because it requires fast racket swing, thus fast timing. Two, it requires your jump timing (which you will only master after learning a very decent smash) to hit your shuttlecock properly. If you can do this, then the jump smash will give you a winning angle to force your opponent off-foot, or force a half lift, to finish it.
@coachingbadminton
@coachingbadminton 12 лет назад
The most important thing is to change your grip 10 degree out way that will give you straightness and much more power. Sorry about the echo. Lee

@coachingbadminton
@coachingbadminton 11 лет назад
That is a good question. I believe it should not be different because of singles or doubles. Whether you play singles or doubles you will be doing all the shots, smash, net kill, clear, drop, smash defense and so on. Which racket should be used is depending on your power, weight and style. In my vpersonal view player would be better not to use too light racket, even balanced or bit heavy racket is better. I will make clip for more detail reasons why. Lee
@coachingbadminton
@coachingbadminton 11 лет назад
In my view, hitting at the highest point is not practically right. The impact point should be high but it has to be in front of your body not above your head. Try to do drop 10 times using both impact point. You will make more miss takes when you hit at the highest point(above your head) There are so much more benefit to hit in front and dis benefit when you hit above your head. Lee
@coachingbadminton
@coachingbadminton 12 лет назад
The way to find out the way to hit very hard is to practice. Even you do it wrong you muct practice in this way you will be able to find out why you can not hit harder. When you know the reason then you can change it step by step. It is not possible to improve your level from 2 to 10. Have a possitive mind set and practice then you will only get better. Please let me know how you get on. Lee
@coachingbadminton
@coachingbadminton 11 лет назад
If you look at your grip carefully, you will be able to find out. Your grip must be fully griped before the shot and during the shot your finger must not moving. I think the way grip the handle is may not right. Check the clips on grips and compare with your grips. Lee
@coachingbadminton
@coachingbadminton 11 лет назад
I think you should take the shuttlecock. If it is flat you have to do flat smash/drive. You have to choose best shot on each situation. You can not do steep smash when shuttlecock is coming flat. Lee
@coachingbadminton
@coachingbadminton 11 лет назад
Try to smash forward rather then try to hit it too steep. Try to hit it in front of your body not above your head. Try do not winding up rather make your action compact and simple. Lee
@coachingbadminton
@coachingbadminton 11 лет назад
Forehand grip is turned more then smash grip. Even forehand grip is different to how much you are taking infront of your body or side, behind of your body. Lee
@coachingbadminton
@coachingbadminton 12 лет назад
Your thumb must grip the racket and it is better to have your thumb hold the grip deeper so all your finger power can go to the shuttlecock. Lee

It is simple just fallow your racket and arm to the corner you would like to hit then it will go there. Lee

Hi Sir, You might know that I am one of your huge fans from India, as usual I agree all your points and so helpful it is. Thanks for it first of all. My problem is I personally feel that whenever I hit (especially forehand) smashes my thumb finger (not too much space between the thumb and index finger) comes above the all others fingers which helps generate more power and convenience. Even if I deliberately struck my thumb finger somewhere between the middle and index fingers it doesn't gives me more power and I end up with doing mistakes with those smashes. I think I could merely help you understand my point.... If it is unclear please let me know sir... Thanks once again

To smash with neutral or pan handle grip is not right in my view. What I am asking is to change grip from neutral grip 10% to forehand grip way(not pan handle, it need to change 50% to be pan handle grip) Lee
@coachingbadminton
@coachingbadminton 11 лет назад
1. set your racket and your arm near to your face not behind your head. 2. take shuttlecock in front of your body 3. use your wrist not your shoulder 4. Try to smash gently first to fell it right then try hard smash 5. Please view all the smash related clips and practice. Good luck. Lee

I am so pleased to know that you are the one who really needed this clip. You are perfactly right, if you turn too much you lose control, vision, recovery and power. Normally it is caused by not changing grip. One more think I would like to stress is make it happen rather thyen it happens automatically. I would like to hear from you how you got on with it. Thank you for posting your comment. Lee

All your vids are so good...Im a newbie in badminton and i love it a lot. However i can't get you at around 4:00 cuz there is too much echo. Could u please explain it again by comments? What i really understand is by holding the grip this way, most of my smashes will go to the left, right? And what do i need to do if i wanna get my smashes to the right of the opponent's court? And from what i can hear, in order to hit it straight, i need to change my grip a little bit like u do, right? Please h

Lee is a great teacher and i like his videos very much. But... - The role of forearm-pronation will be too weakly pronounced. This is a Lee speciality and he will have a lot of success as trainer. But in my mind, it is not state of the art. - When a good player turns the shoulder, like Lee does in the video, he will look at the shuttle and to the net and not to the side. A beginner may look to the side, and therfore is this a good hint and advice from Lee. Look here for example: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-R6gK4ye6LQM.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UYAGyp4W0hw.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eH6qFJoySf8.html... Never the less, Lees videos are great and he is still a great Badminton-teacher!

Coach, I have the same question as musa as well. I am not sure if I should hit the birdie at the highest point for drop, smash, and clear because the birdie will go too high and my opponent will hit it back easily. Should I use my wrist to press the birdie down when I hit it at the highest point? Or should I hit the birdie just a bit lower than the highest point? Thanks

sir Lee, I always have a complain of paining arms. I do not know why. Is is due to hitting with wrong grip ? or is it due to excessive smash played by me. I always play a attacking game. Please suggest what may be the possibility of arms pain.Please help.
@coachingbadminton
@coachingbadminton 10 лет назад
There must be reason/s why. If you smash with good skills, it should not give you such pain. Thry to make your impact point much more in front then before, use more wrist then your arm then before. These may be able to help. Lee
