Great game and thank you !!! For bringing to us and this memorable game. I was 14 years old when this soccer match was happening - we were just new and young in this democracy, being happy that we are free from very oppressive government. Bafana bafana at its best !!! Put a cherry on top by win their first ever African cup of nation and hopefully !!! That will not be their last African cup of nation trophy ! May, God of mount Zion bless the work of your hands and also this channel
All of them bafethu, with the great substitute Mark Williams killing it in less than 20 minutes, really deserves lifetime award, team effort by the way, best Bafana ever with the 1998 World Cup Squad, I was 23 in 1996❤❤❤❤SA
I remember this game vividly! This was our most complete and balanced squad. Every player in this team, including the subs were world class players! Doc, Shoes, Fish, Williams, Tovey, SSSSIIIIZZZZZWEEEEE! OMG the list goes on! I just love this team. I hope Bafana can get back to this soon!
Support that Sizwe Motoung would put going foward is amazing, he even contributed on the first goal. Nyathi also used to do the same.. having right and left back that plays like that helps to create pressure on the opponents.. remember Cafu and Roberto Carlos..
No he will not be the best ever because when it comes to defending he find wanting the only thing he can do is to intercept so ways he can be the best ever sorry
@@PhumezileGaxela-hz9obHe was doing his job, thats how Bafana won Afcon. He was the best, always the danger man in Bafana midfield. There were 6 defensive players in that team.
@@PhumezileGaxela-hz9ob What must he defend when his role is to attack? Speaking of Zinedine, Jay Jay Okocha, Messi, Ronaldinho... Who amongst them was a defending midfielder? Rather say you prefer player so and so over him but rule out that he was the best in what he was doing.
Alfie of HITC Sevens channel has made interesting short documentary re the way this tournament is treated by media in Britain & many other places & I’m determined to catch up on what I’ve missed & enjoy every moment whilst outdoors it’s 0 degrees C , dark & overcast . 😁👍
In 1996 I had just completed my high school national exams in Uganda and I watched this match with tension Tovey-The captain,Mark fish and Lucas Radebe were my favorite players,Dr Khumalo was also good ,entire team was good
South Africa team can make meaningful impact in the tournament They are good, don’t write them off I’m a Nigerian but I still give it to bafana bafana over Nigeria,we have major injuries
You know what happened? After Bafana won the trophy, all those players were replaced by young stars. Instead of replacing them bit by bit. That was the end of Bafana Bafana.
Benny Mccarthy. Bradley Augustin. Andrey Rabutla. Quinton Fortune... Jomo brought in those players in 1998 Afcon in Burkina Faso..I think the problem started there
😂 philimoni that was not good how can you be turning your friends like that forgetting they are called father's at home forgetting some are bread winners in there family 😂😂😂😂 phili
U guyz why we no longer seeing white South Africans on the national team????The likes of Mark fish ,Tovey etc added something extra Whyyyyy no whites on National team
Ghana, Cameroon, Egypt, Tunisia and all other big guns thought so, but that Bafana Bafana team had no reason to fail, not especially in front of Pele and Mandela. So no need for excuses, excuses, excuses.
