They are stock 2wd knuckles that I reverse reamed the lower ball joint and tie rod end. The reason my wheels aren't cambered as much as some other trucks to see is I raised my upper control arm mounts 4 inches higher than stock to help correct camber. That might also be why you thought they were 4x4 knuckles was by flipping the lower ball joint you get about 3.5" of drop. A 4x4 knuckles is 2 inches taller than a 2wd.
@@tylerfalch2765 a frame Z is when you cut the frame in front of and behind where the lower control arms mount. You raise that whole section up 2.5 inches and weld it up with braces. Basically it's taking the engine and suspension and raising it up 2.5 inches so the truck sits flat when aired out. Before I did the Z, the engine crossmember hit the ground first so the front of the truck was higher than the rear.
Ppl always say to me why put this much work into a vehicle I tell them because I love doing it and It feels good when ppl injoy it bad ass truck dude grate job....
Thank you very much. I actually just sold it last weekend. I used a Lincoln Mark VIII 2 speed fan. I removed the bleeder plug out of the housing that leads to the upper hose and installed a thermal fan switch from a 85 Ford Escort. Run it through a relay and your set up is complete.
I'm getting ready to have a shop bag mine soon. I knew about z-ing the frame in front, but did you feel it was necessary to drop the motor, or was it a cosmetic choice?
When you Z the frame it lifts the engine up. in order to keep my drive line angles correct, I lowered the engine back to where is needed to be. My pinion sat higher than my transmission output shaft at ride height so drive line angles were important.
Awesome job on the truck, it looks really good. Very nice detail on the gauges and the controls. What diameter is your cooling fan and where can I get one for my truck?
What kind of spindles do you have they don't look like regular spindles they look like four by four.have a 2005 ram about to bag it.but I'm having trouble figuring out how I'm going to do the front suspension. Your RAM is one of the cleanest dropped Rams I've ever seen you wheels dont butterfly up as much as all the other ones.I really don't like that butterfly look.ur truck sits clean and straight.can u let me know what I can do to keep the straight look#good job on ur truck.
I just got done dropping the reaar of my truck as well , I came across a issue though, how did you manage to tuck the read tires in ? I have about 1 finger of clearance from tire to fender .
Wish u were in tx .. Wld wanna see it in person .. Considering doin bags on my ram but still not sure this is a major motivation .. Props bill seen ur truk up on fb lowered rams
I have a 04 ram 1500 and was going to get deep lipped wheels like yours. I had a question, how deep of a lip can you get without having to shorten the differential? If I get a 7in lip the guy that I’m buying the wheels from said that I would have to cut the differential 3in on both sides
I narrowed the rear end to make sure it cleared with out rubbing. Since I was making a new bed floor I never measured to see if it would clear with stock wheel tubs.
The fuel cell was mounted behind the axle. 26 gallons made from aluminum. I built the truck 17 years ago, but I'm not sure if I posted a video of the rear suspension. You would have to look through my RU-vid.
Hehe, it jumped. What's the total you have in this build and have you done anything performance wise to it? Also, why haven't you swapped the front facia for the facelifted version? And why no SRT hood/bumper?
Nfamous I've seen does a good job. Honestly I would take your truck to them and let them install the parts they recommend. I'm sure that they use quality parts.
Can you send me detailed pictures of the frame z if it is not to much trouble, I have a 04 single cab I'm doing and am my other trucks did not require this mod to lay out. Thanks BTW sweet ride
Nice ride! Ive got an 04 2500 with a cummins. I have looked everywhere that I can think of for bags for the truck but always come up empty handed. Do you have any suggestions?
Thank you. If it's 2wd, Michigan Metal works makes front kits. The rear can be done with universal 4 links. If it's 4wd, Kelderman makes a great set up. Good luck.
Hey bill how much will this run me I want to do it on a single cab sir but professionally I read about nfamous great work and also horror stories about not doing the job right
Love the compressor idea. Were can I find a set like this. I have the same truck but doesnt lay as low since the cross mimber by transmition is in rhe way
I built the bracket and attached it to the frame. I made another bracket to hold a pulley between the power steering and balancer, and the motor mounts I made with poly urethane bushings so the engine doesnt move.
It's a Lincoln Mark VIII fan. I dont remember the exact specs. It's a 2 speed fan. Low is something like 2800 cfm and high is something like 4500 cfm. I run mine on the low setting only and it usually isn't on longer than 1 minute. You will need an 80 amp relay to run it.
Sorry ignor that response. That was for my C10 I built. I had to make new motor mounts because I Z'd the frame 2.5 inches so I had to lower the engine back down. The trans cross member I used 3x1 box steel and then spaced the trans up to get 4 degrees on mybengine angle and notched the back of the cab a little to clear the drive shaft
Sick truck man! I have a 2015 black edition ram that I want to bag. How much am I looking at roughly? Any heads up and how does it ride? I'd greatly appreciate it bro!
depending on a lot of factors like quality of parts, size wheels you want to lay out on, and how pretty you want all the custom work, can run 3k to 12k
Ozzy I fabricated all my stuff on my own, so I have no idea what it would cost where you live. I have heard good and bad things about just about everyone. You cant please everyone. Remember this, cheap ain't good and good ain't cheap. It also depends on how low tou want to go and what size rims you want
I didn't use a drop kit. I built this 11 years ago. I built upper and lower control arms and a 4 link. I z'd the frame 2.5" and notched the frame 9 inches.
The bags were cheap. About $300 back when I built it 13 years ago. It was all the other that was expensive. Designing and building everything because no one had Dodge stuff in 08 like they do now. You can buy parts to bag them now. I had to design and build it all myself.
I actually have a 02 ram single cab fully bagged on ss7s also but when its laid out the front still sits about 2.5" off ground under bumper but the frame and cross members are only about .5" off ground.....any advice
I Z'd the frame 2.5" so the engine cross member didn't hit the ground first. then made new engine mounts to lower the engine back down to keep drive line angles correct.
Well just like yours and leaving the oem stock rims just like the ones you had on your dodge and I'm in Texas there's a place called nfamous that do this kind of work im willing to pay good money I just need to know what goes into it so I can purchase stuff at least one by one like I said watching this vid convince me to get it. Thanks for the reply sir
I built this 13 years ago before there were kits for Dodges. I designed and built my own narrowed control arms, rear notch, 4 link bars, and fuel cell. I believe Michigan Metal Works has a lot you can purchase.
I almost traded it a few months ago, glad I kept it. I am not ready to sell it. No matter what I sell it for I will loose. They go for between 15k and 20k if real clean. I'm still not done with it yet though. Thanks for asking.
On my engine there was a pipe thread plug on the upper hose housing. I found that an early 80s Ford Escort had the same thread size and kicked the fan on at 208 if I remember correctly.
Adventure Atv I did all the work myself and didn't really keep track on how much I spent. Plus I don't think I would want my wife knowing how much I spent.
It was a crap ton of work. 13 pieces of dash and most had to be hand sanded because of the complex curves. The end result was worth it but I got nervous everytime someone got in the truck. I was constantly telling people to be careful.
I bagged it myself. I don't remember how much I spent total because it was 13 years ago. I built the notch, 4 link, fuel cell, upper and lower control arms, Z'd the frame, did the bed, and a lot more all about the same time.
@@bnii2 I read more comments and saw that you had cut the read end 2in. If I did that would I have to get new bed tubs? Or cut them out so the tires won’t hit them?
