I messed up almost everything in my first lap and hit a bomb and still won using these tips and tricks! God tier gameplay and expert MS paint usage has to be worthy of your sub, but I will settle for a "Good job, Val!"
Great guide, third try after watching it. I was groggy from sleep as well. I had such a lead that I was able to hit one of the blocks around the cactuar gates and still win.
Thanks for the tips and chocobo build; I didn't have that helm (missing one golden plume and can't find it, grr) so I stuck with Shinra Helmet, and used Scorpion Greaves instead just bc I touch grass a lot lol. Took a few tries but got it fairly quickly thanks to watching your video first. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of Cure spells, they say!
Happy to help! Yeah, when I originally posted this, I felt like there was a lot of leeway with the build. Thanks for posting yours as an alternative in case other people come to the comments looking for some! Congrats!
Thanks, this guide really helped. I beat all the other courses on 2-3 tries, but I kept struggling on this one. I was able to beat this in 3 tries with your setup :)
OK, I struggled with this for hours. Beat it on my third try with this method with a perfect run. I skipped the air time each lap and still finished by a clear margin, ~1:52-54 per lap. Thanks!
Oh my god. Thankyou so much for this chocojump idea. I had never used the ability and it worked in a very different way to what I imagined. I used this in conjunction with hugging the left side in both water areas, and won by a huge margin.
Yes!! Happy to help! I did not expect it to be this powerful. I used it with the intent of jumping a cactuar gate or two... Did not expect it to last as long as it does! Congrats!
Are you gonna practice this race? I'm looking for the optimal build and route. And your chocobo's ability looks quite interesting (never tried it actually)
I may revisit it to find some new methods, but I haven't touched Chocoracing since I beat it tbh lol. This video is doing well and I'd be down to make more of these if there is enough interest!

@@valstarlight yeah fair. I also only just started doing some chocobo racing just for fun xD So there's still hope I'll have a challenger haha 😁 really wish they added an online mode in this game
So tough man. It’s definitely the most chaotic and random of all the races, which is why it’s easy to panic and just snowball into fucking up a ton. Also, and I know everybody feels this way, but fucking fuck those cactuar gates, seriously. I would’ve been done with this FOREVER ago without those.
Yeah, it feels like they threw in everything from the previous races without structure or any idea of how the race would flow and just said: "Good luck!" But yeah, cactuar gates were ruining all my ruins too until I found this method lol
Haha, sorry! ... I have a bad habit of this, I'll get better XD I write Epic Fantasy (like 300+ page books) so I'm always like "This will be short..." (it's never short)
I don't even remember that one. I was probably using chocobubble still. This was the only one I really had trouble with I think. What makes the Alexander one so tough?
I still haven’t finished the story yet but I saved this video for when I have to complete this mini game which, by the way, this game have a lot of!! 😅
This race had me vexxed for days lol had to take a break and come back... still couldn't beat it... watched your vid took a few tries after getting used to the ability, but yeah completely smoked everyone. It's funny I would get mad mainly at the cactaur gates... I'm normally good at knowing when to go through... the issue with this damn race is the cactaur gates appear after an incline you have to drift on so you can't initially see how soon they opened or closed so you gotta guess. Really dumb design lol glad that chocojump completely eliminated the need to get a read on the doors. Thanks for the tip dude. I changed the gear up a bit but yea... master drifter to increase speed after a drift with all the drifting on the stage, I felt this race has so many annoying turns and I had no problem building ability energy so I just added cornering from the helm, then just put hyperion armor to make me faster in the last lap.
Happy to hear this helped you! Yeah, the gear can 100% be tweaked. Those cactuar gates were ruining me, so I did everything in my power to find a way to just completely avoid them lol... Did not expect this ability to let you skip them ALL every time.
Neat. Didnt know you could just jump over them lol. I used the robot chocobo to do most of the later races. I enjoy being able to electrocute opponents that get too close. It did require me to establish strats for gates - saving yellow boosts to zoom through in time and sometimes just slowing down to guaruntee id get an open door.
Yeah, that just never seemed to work consistently enough for me so finding out I could just jump over and skip them was great. I didn't try the electrocuting one. I'll have to go back and play around with that!
That's how I felt too by the time I got to the Alexander race. I just kept going 'why does everything ALWAYS have to be pushed to the point of frustration to where you don't even care when you finally succeed?' Got SO sick of collisions. I am sure my neighbours heard me doing that race. I was having a fun chill day of chocobo racing and then it became something that took my entire day, wore my thumbs smooth and I still have Bahamut to conquer. They just don't know when to quit.
@@valstarlight See, I’ve done that (50-49, so don’t believe guides that say he can’t get less than 50!), I’ve A ranked all the piano pieces, and finally finished all the races. I don’t THINK I have anything else awful to do other than hard modes of stuff that wasn’t so bad? But still…don’t get me wrong I’m proud of beating this stuff but I am not sure the game would be worse if the minigames were not just a little easier!
@@mixanblend Good to know. I actually came really close to winning once(he messed up and I got cocky) so I was more annoyed at myself than anything, but I will go back for my revenge soon lol. Nothing else really bothered me mini-game wise as far as difficulty goes and the fights that are hard, I enjoy figuring out ways to beat them, so the rest isn't too bad. I think it's the controls that bother me? Like some of them are just uncomfortable to play and some options to modify what you use would be nice. It's a single player game so not a big deal if it makes it easier for you by say, letting us use the face buttons instead of the triggers for some of the games.
Thanks, so much, for this. I had been banging my head against this race for ages, using a variety of 'bos and gear. Using your setup and route I did it first attempt. Legend, mate.
Really good video and tutorial. I got it on about the 5th try after watching this. Thanks! So many of these race videos no one explains anything. Your explanations help *A LOT*
Happy to help! I'd really like to make more content for the game, but I fell behind a bit and I'm not sure if it's worth pumping them out. Maybe I'll try to make some more detailed ones like this and see how they do. Thanks for the comment and the nice words!
@@valstarlight If you focus on the more difficult endgame optional challenges, they'll probably get some take-up as people who paced themselves playing the game are now coming up against that stuff.
@@mixanblend Great advice! Thanks! Yeah, I took a little bit of a break from the game because I was putting so much time and effort into streaming and content creation. I am about to tackle this stuff myself, so maybe inspiration will hit, and I can find some helpful tips for people.
Hey Kevin, I haven't tried it without the helm but I honestly think the strat would still work without. I would try to look at whatever gives the most intelligence, but also avoid anything that changes your ability(like the merc hat you get from the sidequest with Kyrie!) - let me know if it's still viable without Saurian helm. I honestly haven't tested it! Good luck!
@valstarlight thanks! Yeah, those cactuar doors were a menace 😆 I kept having to restart the race because they would close as soon as I got to them. Definitely wasn't a fun race that's for sure. But persistence paid off!
Yeah, that was my problem too. No matter how much I thought I calculated it perfectly I would still get caught and lose so much time lol@@kevinburke1325
I respect this. Always used to say it that way too. Ever since they started putting emphasis on the "TUAR" part of it, I started to adapt... But I still like the way you say it better. I should revert back!
