Airas Nunes de Santiago (1230-1289)
was a cleric and troubador, perhaps from Santiago de Compostela, who served in the Castilian court of Sancho IV from 1284-1289. His poems were strongly influenced by Provençal poetry, and though limited in number (15 survive), they touched a wide variety of themes. He almost certainly collaborated with Alfonso X on the Cantigas de Santa Maria and may actually have composed the larger part of them.
Let's dance now, all of us, three of us, friends,
under these trees of flowering hazel,
and any girl who is a fair as we are,
if loving a friend perchance,
under these trees of flowering hazel,
will come to dance as well.
Let's dance now, all of us, three of us, sisters,
under the hazel thicket's spreading branches,
and any girl who is as fair as we are,
if loving a friend perchance,
under the hazel thicket's spreading branches,
will come to dance as well.
For the love of God, oh friends
while we have the time to do it,
under these flowering stems,
let's dance in beauty,
and she who is as fair as we,
if loving a friend perchance,
under these branches
where we dance
will come to dance as well!

Bailemos ya nosotras tres, ay amigas,
bajo estos avellanos floridos.
Y quien fuera garrida como nosotras somos garridas,
Si sabe amar,
bajo estos avellanos floridos
vendrá a bailar.
Bailemos ya nosotras tres juntas, ay hermanas,
bajo estas ramas avellanos
Y quien fuera galana como nosotras somos galanas,
si sabe amar,
bajo estas ramas de estos avellanos
vendrá a bailar.
Por Dios, amigas, mentiras no decimos
bajo estas ramas floridas bailamos,
y quien buen humor tenga como nosotras tenemos,
si sabe amar,
bajo estas ramas, donde nosotras bailamos,
vendrá a bailar.
