We keep trekking East up towards Port Augusta in S.A. and in between we stop at Baird Bay for a night and go check out the Sea Lion colony over at Point Labatt.
I do some more rod building and finish off the fishing rod for Simon's wife Jo which turned out lovely! Also working on the first Hezza Slaya rod which I'm keen to finish and test out soon on some Hezza's somewhere...maybe we'll christen it at Walpole World Champs!

The rod is a thing of beauty Jed, awesome work. So sorry I can't join you all for the Hezza WCS Comp. Work taken me to Adelaide 😳😳. Wish I was there, I hope you good people have the best time ever! Have a beer for me! My sanity saver is I am in Shark bay for 2 weeks not long after I get back! Love the video, LMAO at you peeling crabs Jed, That is how I do it! Weird how there never seems to be a lot of meat left in the bowl. Stay safe crew, blessings for you to you both! Stay safe, have fun! 👍🍻😁

Oh nice nice!! Do you know what Blank he used? I'm still yet to restore an old rod. I have Kelly's grandfathers beach rod which is an old Len-Butterworth which I'm keen to restore. 👍👍

Glad you clarified on the jet boil thing because I love my jet boil and I love my crabs and I love my morning cup of tea but that trifecta can’t operate sustainably using the same jet boil 🤣 Just let me know how to pronounce that bay when you figure it out - for the rest of us 😂

Oh yeah I tried the crab cuppa a few times...it was not a good combo 😐 🙅‍♂️😆 I don't think I did work it out in the end! I'm useless 🤦‍♂️ haha

Just a heads up...locals call Bairds Bay as Beards Bay. Yeah I know, we're a wierd lot. But we also call nearby Sceales Bay, Scales Bay. Maybe we need better edjamacation 😂

Lovely work on the rod mate. So perfect. I'm looking forward to a handy hobby when i semi retire. Summer has finally arrived in SA. Then it gets cool again. Port Augusta is around 5 hours drive from my house. So far away from me. Hahah. Dire Straits. Haven't done the images yet mate. Flat out with vintage. When heat comes, the grapes come off. I gusse i could email you the pic and you could print it yourself. Up to you mate. Thanks mate. Need get me a jetboil. Hahah😂

Cheers Nath! Yeah it turned out lovely in the end, very nice all-rounder 👌 . No stress about pics mate at all, we'll be flat out on repairs and re-packing for NT next week then punching north up through the middle so whenever it suits ya 👍👍, Hopefully a good grape season over your way too! What's on the crumpets this morning? 🤔

Oh nice thee ole Promite! I was a big fan on Ozimite but can't get it anymore 😔 Yeah I did google how they are made and looks complicated, would be a epic skill to have 🙌

@oldmate_adventures yes mate. It most definitely would be worth it. It's all about the temperature. Hard because i keep burning the bottom before they start to bubble and pop

Cheers Craig mate 👍👍, rod building thread epoxy has no smell so she's all good! The 2 part for the grips kinda smells a bit like araldite but that's bout it. 👌

Yeah I hadn't really thought about it till you mentioned it. Haha yeah fibreglass resin smell would be not good!
