Looks like they might have used baby powder, that protects the skin from fibers, but only a good wind would protect their lungs.

That baby powder you saw was actually fiberglass dust.

@@BlueRockAdventures Ouch, I have heard that baby powder will fill your pores and keep fiber glass dust from itching you

@@BlueRockAdventures gracias por su respuesta, mas bien la misma pregunta pero en este caso que tipo de poliester, la polyester Isoftalica por su buenas propiedades o la polyester Ortoftalica de uso general , gracias por su tiempo , soy aficionado a la fibra de vidrio y estoy por construir una panga de 7mt de eslora de los modelos japoneses que son muy buenos por su diseño, y otro detalle aqui en Peru en su mar costero es fria, promedio 14°c y en Centro America y el Caribe son de mas temperatura, eso tambien influye en la vida util de una embarcacion de fibra de vidrio segun los expertos, gracias por su tiempo

@@omieyouknowme about 2 months. My builder had some health issues that extended the process.

@@BlueRockAdventures I can understand the health issues. I’ve been working on boats since I was 15 and working with these chemicals can take their toll on you. However, with the right PPE “which these folks don’t use” will save you from health issues. Great original panga though. Thanks for sharing.

You're right! I wore a mask everyday and begged and pleaded with them to also. At the end of the day they are grown men, had plenty of masks available but said they were uncomfortable and refused to wear them. I appreciate your concern and believe me I did my best!
