Traditional games at Bajaur Festival comes to an end!
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority, District Administration Bajaur, Bajaur Scouts and Tourism Wing Merged Districts jointly organized Bajaur Festival under the management of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Department of Tourism, Culture, Sports, Archeology, Museum and Youth Affairs to promote Sports and tourism in the area.
The event was held on 15th and 16th of October at Bajaur Sports Complex Khar Bajaur.
On the final day, thrilling activities including cycle race, jeep rally by Frontier 4x4 Club, bikers rally were held besides traditional Attan dance and instrumental and cultural musical performances.
Deputy Commissioner Bajaur Fahad Wazir was the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the event. Project Director of Tourism Wing merged Districts Ishtiaq Khan, Assistant Commissioner Bajaur Zohaib Khan, and other important personalities were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Bajaur Fahad Wazir said that “Bajaur is a peaceful city, and it is blessed with many tourist attractions sites. The purpose of organizing jeep rally and motorbike rally in the festival was to highlight the tourist places to the world, in near future we are planning more activities in this area to involve the youth and locals of Bajaur”.
Ishtiaq Khan, Project Director, Tourism Wing Merged Districts, said that “ the aim of the festival was to promote the tourism and sports of the merged district Bajaur, we are also planning to arrange such type of festivals in Kurram, Tirah, and Waziristan as well. Previously we have organized various activities in the merged areas of the province, including Khyber, Orakzai, and other districts. We are also planning to launch new tourist spots, rest areas, camping pods, and other tourism projects to facilitate the tourist in every possible way”.
On the previous day, the festival included a local traditional music concert, tug-of-war, martial arts, and various other sports competitions were held among youth.
School students also presented various tableaus during the festival.
