My cats and I are waiting in breathless anticipation for the whole Seed Catalog to arrive. Any day, any day, any day now. And yes, I read the catalog aloud to the cats, and they adore it.
This is one of your best videos! It is nice seeing the flowers and veggies, but it is also nice seeing some of the wonderful staff members who work so diligently behind the scenes. Look forward to a better growing season in 2023 than what Olympia had in 2022. Best wishes, Kate - 11/1/2022.
My first order from Baker Creek just arrived today! I can't wait to get planting. I'm going to give the free seed packet to a friend who lives in a cooler area.
I am in the Andes in Cusco, Peru and have been planting Baker Creek Seeds since 2020... I have had great results. My stocks are coming up. Waiting for my Apricot Lemonade cosmos Brush Strokes Viola, Miniola Heart Aqua Heart Viola and Salmon Janina aster with a bunch of more vegetables and greens. Great additions to our wild biointensive garden.
Great video and so enticing, each and every one! You guys are amazing and my only seed company ❤️ I'm 72 and gardening for over 50 years. Now I'm down to a small space and pots so I'm super picky about only buying the BEST👍
Great video and John L. At the start would make a fine Wild Bill Hickok reenactor. Can hardly wait for my catalogue. It's a work of art and very informative.
I put a big order of seeds last night. Cost of veggies and herbs are going up and Vancouver Housing Authority in WA banned our personal gardens and pulled them all out during Covid. So I am trying to grow things I can on the patio in full strong sun zone 8b. Wish me luck and pray for me to succeed, and I promise to accidentally spill some where people can pick it too. 😂
Hi, David. Aha, you are a fellow Washingtonian! Vancouver is roughly 110 miles south of where we are in Olympia - so you are not too far away. Good luck with growing all sorts of things on your patio! How nice that you are willing to share! My garden is only 6,357 sq ft - wish it were bigger... but we do the best we can with what we have! Take care! Best wishes - Kate - 1/25/2023.
GUYS YOU'VE GOT ME CRYING AGAIN!! The amount of knowledge that hardly ANYONE knows, that you are sharing, is insane and amazing 😍 Have you thought about putting together a book of valued edibles that noone really thinks of or knows, for educational use?!
Based on another commenter here, I would love if you made a video showing recipes how to use some of the more rare or unusual herbs, fruits, vegetables. I can be shy to try or buy and I do not know why!
I love the edible flowers! My calendula is still going strong I planted it very late so I hope I get to see it bloom. It seems to like the cooler Temps we have been getting. What edible flowers are heat tolerant? For zone 8a nevada.
@@tracycrider7778 I tried that this year and didn't far with it, but I did plant late it was cold Here early spring. I planted morning glory over them they were so weak just pathetic, maybe I need better seeds will try again with Baker seeds this time. Thanks Tracy :) The Nasturtium is what I'm talking about, borage I grew in California, it grew like crazy there. :)
If you are able to grow pansies in the coldest part of winter, they would be an excellent choice, and they are are a favorite edible flower of ours. Butterfly pea flowers are edible and very heat tolerant; just be sure to plant them when there is no longer a chance of frost or very cold nighttime temps (they like it above 40F at the coldest).Cockscomb and celosia are also quite heat tolerant and make nice edible flowers. Thanks for asking!
@@RareSeedsBC Thank you, I will be adding those to my list. It gets cold sometimes but doesn't usually stay cold, sometimes can get high teens low 20s. So far I still have tomato plants with tomatoes ripening. Waiting on my Calendula to bloom ,think I'm seeing them begin to bloom. I'm so excited.
Hola,es hermoso encontrarlos,saber de ustedes,me gustaría comprar un catálogo y semillas,cómo lo hago,soy de Chile,novena región, Ciudad lautaro.favor responder.bendiciones
Have you testing that these aren't invasive to certain areas? It's a large fear I have because I'm currently removing several horribly invasive plants which were once though of as "pretty"
Thanks for your question! We do our best to avoid plants that are known to become invasive; however, due to a changing climate and micro climates, we can't guarantee that some plants won't grow a bit "too well." If you have questions about specific varieties, feel free to email us at rareseeds.com and we'll try to help you navigate this. Hope this is helpful!
One type of ground cover plant is popular in WA, and is not considered invasive but just flowering plant for borders. Guess what? In one apartment complex it took over like a weed. We could not get rid of it. Nobody else complained to the nursery but me. It is not listed as an invasive. I agree, sometimes things are invasive in SOME STATES and hard to grow and safe to try in others. However, be aware that potentially anything can become “weedy” with the right soil and climate, and heck you may wind up with tomatoes being your bane! 😂
Hi there! Here are some cold-hardy pollinator plants that we recommend: Any type of agastache, bee balm, chives, clover, echinaceae, gaillardia, poppy, sweet alyssum, and yarrow.
No! We are packing and shipping seeds for the 2023 season now. Ordering early is the best way to get your top picks; seed companies including Baker Creek are still encountering supply issues, which we are doing our very best to manage.
@@thebarefoothomestead Yes! We have seeds on order, so please keep checking back on rareseeds.com or register for a notification when it comes back into stock.
@@sandrajohnson9926 The Whole Seed Catalogs have begun to ship. Free catalogs are available. If you have not received one, please visit this page to have one sent: www.rareseeds.com/requestcat/catalog
For some reason I got two catalogs on the same day at my residence. Private message me and I’ll give you my information so that you can delete one of my accounts with you so that you’re not sending me 2. I was so excited to get the catalog and I can’t wait to place my first order!❤
Thanks for your question! Eating any home-grown varieties is part of a holistic health approach. That said, chamomile, calendula, butterfly pea, toothache plant are some of our favorite useful holistic plants. Hope that is helpful!
Never again. I bought 15 different kinds of seeds from you last year. Followed instructions to the LETTER. TWO of the 15 grew as expected. What a complete waste of money.
I am so sorry to hear you have had an issue with our seeds. We provide a 2-year germination guarantee and would be happy to refund or replace any item that did not perform up to your expectation. We also have some very knowledgeable horticulturists on staff who would be happy to provide growing tips or advice on any item that has given you troubles. This year was a very trying year for all gardeners with the high heat and drought conditions that seemed to have plagued most of customers. Please feel free to reach out directly to us at rareseeds.com.
I ordered two parcels from you and paid for them. The site says a tracker number from Easy Post, but the problem is that there is NO such tracking number on the site of this company! neither from the first parcel number 004523418, nor from the second 004525860. I hope that this is just a misunderstanding, and not something more unpleasant. I would like to receive an answer - where are my parcels?
Please reach out to customer service at seeds@rareseeds.com. We are very committed to helping customers resolve issues with orders. Thanks for reaching out here.
This happened to me last year on a 30 ish dollar order that said they delivered it to my farm. I checked with each of the few surrounding fatms and no one had my seeds. It was an order that a customer wanted me to purchase special from this company. I felt like they truly did not believe need bit they did send it again after a few back and forth I believe it was a shipping issue and not their fault but as a small Disabled farmer I could not afford to replace my customers seeds. So I'm thankful
