As a rookie with the Browns, Baker broke Peyton Manning's rookie touchdown passing record. And now he is getting quality coaching (other than Stefanski, his head coaches were Freddie Kitchens and Hugh Jackson!) Many Browns fans and teammates still respect him.
As a BOOMER SOONER FAN!! and someone who watched Baker Mayfield transfer to OU had to set out one year (NCAA RULES THEN) would have been the starting QB if he could play after his transfer from Texas Tech. That is how long most of us have watched #6. I am so glad Baker and his family have found a HOME with the #tampabaybuccaneers. Have a Great 2024 year Baker and Buccaneers Fans.

How long has it been since Mayfield has gone into a season knowing he's the starter, (not splitting reps to compete for the starting job, or joining the team late in the season)? And although he'll be trying to get comfortable in still ANOTHER new system, at least this one will have some familiarity. On top of those really important things, he's actually going to go into the season with some chemistry with his main targets, (another thing he's had VERY little of in his career). PLUS, from what I'm reading, he's going to be given more leeway to change plays at the LOS. Baker is super smart! I think this will be a HUGE thing in his favor.
I'm glad to see another fan actually knows Mayfield's history of being in terrible situations with the teams he has been on before the Bucs.....I'm sick of hearing that Mayfield has been on 4 teams in 6 yrs like he's the reason for it ...whatever it is Baker Mayfield seams to be a scapegoat for terrible coaches terrible systems and teammates that just suck.....even 2020 when he got the Browns to their 1rst playoff win in 30 yrs it was a great coaching job using Mayfield's..limited..abilities that did it ....Stefani sucks and a liar..blameshifter punk... Finally Baker got a real break in Tampa and finally for the first time in his career there's continuity and stability plus familiarity in his second year ...he's loved by the fans..his teammates..coaches..front office...and all of SW Florida..he's home now..he said it himself...I'm on a team I feel comfortable with in a city that's embraced me in a place I call home and for the first time in my career I'm at ease and actually truly wanted . I feel respected here and here in Tampa I'm going to give it all that I have and bring another title or two along with all the great teammates that are here ......

No job in the world that requires skills has people who are good at it, then forget how, then go back to being good at it, etc., etc., etc., Football is a "TEAM" sport, and NO QB can consistently succeed without decent support. A QB who with exceptional wheels (the Lamar Jacksons ) has a much better chance of looking good without good support around them. But as soon as a D makes him play QB, their QBing short-comings are exposed.
You nailed the two most important questions: 1. Can the new O-line help Rashaad White average more than 3 yards per carry? 2. Can the Bucs young defensive players step up? They have to pressure the QB without Blitzing so much. Will Calijah Kancey, Yaya Diaby, KJ Britt, and/or Chris Braswell become household name(s)? If the Bucs answer 'yes' to these questions, they will not only win the division but could win the conference
Ok so to clear this up. Cleveland did not trade Baker to the Panthers until a few days before training camp started. He had no offseason to learn the playbook or the other players or the coaches. It was a screw job by Cleveland to make Baker look bad to ease the backlash on the Watson trade. Then halfway through the season the panthers fired the head coach traded Christian McCaffery and benched baker. They were tanking on purpose so it’s not as bad as it sounds for Baker there really

I was really hoping, that Canales would stay, but Baker has experienced so many OC and at least he has been working with Coen before. I really hope Baker can develop a little more. I got the Bucs going 10:7 in the season.

Great analysis. It’s the Bucs division until someone else proves us wrong. Insane how the media still doesn’t predict them to win division when we’ve won 3 years straight and have made some solid additions in offseason. Just need to get the wirfs contract done and Bucs are in there. Run game should be improved which is just gonna elevate baker and the offense. Hopefully graham barton turns into an all pro. Would be nice to have all pro wirfs next to all pro center Barton 🙏🏼
I was a critic of Baker Mayfield myself. I dubbed him as "Baker Trashfield" in the past. I'd have to apologize to him as I can call him that no longer. I just wish that my Panthers were on the up and up. We'll see come September.
I may be jumping the gun. Haven’t even finished watching yet so excuse me if I am. But the reason the secondary was bad wasn’t because we were blitzing. It was a catabolic cycle of having to overcompensate for shortcomings on one facet of the defense. 4 man Pass rush was bad so it left the secondary in coverage too long, can’t fix a 4 man pass rush without studs and unfortunately we didn’t have any. So what’s the next best option? You blitz but then that means you rely on your DB’s to all lock up 1 on 1 or you have holes in coverage with zone because you’re sacrificing personnel. Although Bowles is incredibly creative and “blitz happy” he blitzed as much as he did last year because he had to, not because he wanted to. Everything on this defense is symbiotic, so once one group underperforms there needs to be slack picked up by other groups and that just isn’t sustainable over a 17 game season. Once he gets a true Batman to Yaya Diabys Robin, this D will go back to how it was
When you got Mike Evans and Chris Godwin it doesn't matter how the run game is. These dudes put up numbers regardless of the QB so, if the QB plays well they can win a lot of games. I think the Bucs are gonna play a lot of 3 safety looks where they have Tykee Smith and Winfield alternating slot and free safety. Watch out for Kalen Deloach as the undrafted LB out of FSU
I am expect TB to win the Division. I am a Carolina Panthers fan, I can see the Panthers winning the 2nd place. Don't be surprised Atlanta Falcons doesn't make the Playoffs.
I don't get all this talk about the Falcons suddenly being some huge threat because of Cousins. I'm not saying he's not a good QB, but the idea that somehow they're now this major force seems concocted to me. Just offseason talk. I think with the Bucs the major question mark is the new offensive coordinator. I really didn't think Canales was gonna leave, but the question is going to be consistency with Tampa. Last season they came out of the gate hot (beat the doors off of Cousins' Vikings btw), and after about 4 weeks went through a down period in the middle of the season before getting hot at the end again. If they can avoid that kind of drop off (same thing happened with Brady in 2020 actually) then they're still gonna be the team to beat in the division. It's just a question of how the offense looks under this new guy. The addition of Barton is a big piece too, and how the line comes together, but I'm less worried about that part of it than the overall offensive scheme and how it's executed.
Let's see going from Marcus Mariota and Desmond Ridder to Kirk Cousins who can actually throw the ball and is a competent QB is the reason Falcons have the hype, not too difficult to understand that. Any competent QB play last season they win more games even with the bad playcalling of Arthur Smith.
Yeah I don't understand the hype either and he's mediocre at best and coming off a major injury and learning a new system and apparently the dirty birds have their doubts since they drafted a QB in the first round instead of getting help for cousins
@@DineroWizdom I'm not sure what your getting at. The NFC South is a hard fought division every year. These teams are gonna play each other hard and it's always gonna be a win some lose some scenario, but overall I don't see the Falcons being some demonstrably improved team just because of the addition of Cousins.

Cohen only called plays for the Rams a couple of games. I hear that said all the time. He did call plays at Ky so he does have play calling experience. Not much in the NFL.
i think Cohen will be a upgrade over canales, canales seemed too stubborn at times. Cohen seems to consistently put points on the board for his offenses, gonna be easier for the team to win games when the offense actually scores, especially with a bucs D that consistently keeps opposing teams under 22 points.
Ahhh yes the saints. Split 1-1 in the regular szn. Last time they met in the playoffs the bucs sent Brees to retirement. But yes correct the saints always beat them when it “matters”
I thinks there’s a a sect of buccaneer haters that wanted to believe that Tampa was going to fall apart when Brady left. I sort of agreed with them as a Bucs fan at first, I thought Tampa was going to be trash last year, but when I saw them in the preseason, I could immediately see that they were a much better team than we all thought. There are a couple things I think you are wrong about the run game was not as bad as you say it was the problem is it wasn’t an explosive run game they didn’t get a lot of big plays but to have a rb get just under 1k yards you can’t say it was a terrible run game and the defense is going to be great especially with Jordan whitehead back and also Tristen wirfs needs that new contract so we don’t have to worry about baker getting hurt
Baker a franchise qb? Sure he is a better qb than any the buca have had baring Brady. I'm not sure Brady would have done as well as Baker with all Baker has had to endure. 8 coach's and staffs. Cohen was with Baker before so that change will be a familiar face. So expect more from Baker. Has Baker ever had a season where he threw as many or more ints than tds?
Youre underestimating the secondary. And completely downplaying what HIMfield Jr and Whitehead can do. Not to mention HIMfield isnt one of the best safties, he is the best, period. No one has ever done what he did last year
