Just a short one showing the huge number of illegal fireworks the other night. It was crazy!

Appreciate the way you ended it by talking about “banning things”, and that you didn’t like seeing that done. Yes, people need to be more responsible and aware of the fire danger fireworks present. Especially this year here in So Cal. I’m a volunteer fire lookout at Palomar Mountain State Park lookout tower. Again, this year is already a busy one for firefighters. So, please, everyone be vigilant as the wild fire season could possibly last all the way up to December and beyond. Thank you, Mark!

We get the same crap here in Milwaukee and there's still quite a number of homes with old wood Construction plus they had cut back on the number of fire stations. They think a fairly large apartment complex burned down because of this. Seeing this certainly sheds a bad light on the city is it also puts a damper on the song The Streets of Bakersfield which I've always enjoyed

Thanks Mark, I thought we were the only ones who had to listen to the sound of dollar bills exploding every 4th of July. After seeing your video and reading the comments I get the feeling it is a bigger issue around the country. When we moved here (Washington State) in 78 Vancouver, WA had the biggest fireworks display east of the Mississippi (their claim) which was alright if you could stand the traffic afterwords. Now they have been discontinued and personal fireworks are banned due to wild fire danger as we are not soggy around here anymore. Every 4th though you would not know they were banned as some towns still allow the sale and use so still very noisy on the 4th.

It's ashamed what has happened to California. No consequences for lawless behavior.

Thank you Mark for posting this. I live in the SoCal desert and every year for two days it’s like a war zone with all of the fireworks going off. This year was no exception and the fireworks are anything but the “safe and sane” fireworks sold at the fireworks stand.

Here in Fresno, a part of the metal mortar off of one of those big fireworks, fell short, and a piece of metal shrapnel lodged in a friend's AC unit, just cost him $15,000 to replace. Weather here is up to 114° now, so he had to have it fixed.

Thank you for posting this. Same thing here in Visalia. My neighbor had a firework show and my front yard, roof and backyard is littered with burnt out paper tube pieces, plastic parts and what ever unburnt material was in those things. Luckily nothing was set on fire. We had to sedate 2 of our dogs. So what is so fun that we had to hunker down in our home and calm our animals?

Try recording from your location, just add to drone footage, no one will know the difference but it will give viewers the idea of the intensity of the fireworks. PS - Agree with your comments, fireworks were also out of control in my neighborhood

It's July 6th here, and it still sounds like a warzone. All the fools are setting their own money on fire buying these.

I sure agree with you. The fireworks have gotten out of hand. July 4th has become an opportunity for some to get drunk and do stupid things.

Hi Mark, thought maybe last night would be much quieter than the 4th, Nope! Right around 11pm (and went on till almost 2am) they started launching shells over my direction that were so loud and had so much force, that I thought the windows would crack or shatter, scared the he__ out of the dogs. So, I called the non-emergency police number and after about 5 minutes of ringing I reported my complaint. I knew most likely nothing would be done probably until the next watch comes on duty at 7am. Last I heard, our P.D. is about 140 to 160 short of officers. I don't blame anyone for refusing to sign-up for a relative low paying, high-stress dangerous job. The people setting off the illegal fireworks are drunk and or high and most likely have little self-control or concern for anybody else but themselves. But I'm afraid the writings on the wall, life's too short to put up with this nonsense. Even though I can't quite afford it and if I can somehow, make the finance numbers work I will move out of state. I'm one of those born and raised California people. I just read where the state is starting to hurt financially because too many high earners (which are being replaced by an inflow of low earners) and large companies have moved out of state. The costs and excessive regulations of everything in this state is out of control.

Part of the problem is mixing fireworks and alcohol. Reason goes out the window especially at parties. Funny that people complain about inflation and the cost of food, rent, cars, etc, but yet they pony up for industrial strength fireworks. Your $ goes up in smoke, I guess it’s priorities. Can’t legislate stupid.

About 20 years ago, and a thousand bucks was real money, my friend and I bought a $1000 of fireworks 💥 in Merrilville, IN and blew them off at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway! We bought several, and I don’t remember Benjamin is 1000 or several thousand large rolls of fire crackers, and blew them off either in a pile, or is a long string, from both ends. I do know, that we live off of higher love them in the infield long after the race was over. A cop came by on a three wheeler, and said that he’d give us 50 bucks to blow off another one!

I share your concerns in particular in an area where dry conditions exist. Unfortunately, people are not responsible enough. Here in NC we have community organized fireworks displays and they are well accepted. Still, some advice resistant citizens think they do not have to follow the law. SMH

Long Beach, CA sounded like the allied attacks on Bagadad during the Iraq War (when they displayed such on television, years ago), but on steroids with continuous rumbles and no gaps. And the fireworks lighting up the horizon in the distance would have been a good backdrop set for a WW2 movie where the Germans bombed London during the Blitz and you could see it all light up from miles away in the countryside. If they are suppose to be illegal in CA, then someone needs to tell people because it seemed worse then previous years. And I heard some idiot lit a firework alight on his head and paid the ultimate price.
