I love the line "what part of her is frail?" so much. It says so much for both of their characters. Bakugo wants to win and be number 1, but he wants to do it fair and square against worthy opponents.
I love this episode because Iida and the crowd are treating Uruaka like she doesn’t stand a chance against Bakugou, but when Bakugou treats her like an equal opponent, he’s seen as a bad guy for “playing around.” I love that Aizawa had NO hesitation to back up bakugou’s actions. He’s not doing it maliciously, he’s giving her the same fighting chance he’d give someone like Kirishima or even Deku.
This was such a good episode for Bakugo for me. He spent the entire fight showing nothing but respect for her as a fighter by never letting his guard down and assuming she always had a plan for him, and then defended her as being anything but frail after the fight.
@@thrilla72 To say that with such certainty is a bit rushed. As you saw, Ochako said herself she didn't really have a plan for what to do after her last move, and when it comes down to it we simply never saw what would have happened, because Bakugo solved all the issues with one blast. You're forgetting how powerful Bakugo is, both being brawny, but also brainy. She wouldn't necessarily win even if she did manage to touch him.
@@MrPeopleftw Yeah he MAY have used his palm blast to stay in the arena even if he was made to float but it'd be difficult to control and he'd be tired. A draw then?
@@thrilla72 She never stood a chance. At any point. Even if she touched him, that's not going to help her at all. He's an exceptionally skilled close-quater fighter, but he can also fly without Ururaka's quirk. Making him weightless would have just made him faster and more lethal. She made him sweat, but she never would have beat him.
The interesting thing about bakugo accusing deku of giving uraraka that strategy is that uraraka WAS pretty much doing her best to channel Deku. She made a risky plan that also put her in harm's way, but she had a strategy. It is indeed similar to the way Deku fights and Bakugo recognised that. Of course, we know it was all Ochako's work.
That’s interesting. They’re all actually taking inspiration from each other as they’re learning to become the best heros they can. Deku taking inspiration from Bakugo, Uraraka taking inspiration from Deku. Love it!
Fun fact, Horikoshi originally planned to put the vine girl in class a, but her hair was hard to draw so he put her in class b so he wouldn’t have to draw it all the time
So when Bakugou says "that was close" and his hand is shaking its not only because her attack almost hit but his body was starting to get worn down from using his quirk so much, she managed to push him close to his limit.
If Katsuki wouldn`t use his full power against her, that would mean, that he had no respect to her as an opponent. But he respects her for her abilities. So it should be, no holding back. In fact, holding back ist what Katsuki hates most, if other do that to him.
Ochaco put up a really good fight, but "power is power" and I appreciate that Bakugo didn't hold back... it was awesome how he blasted all the debris falling down.
Holy fucking shit. This episode never fails to give me chills, even after seven years. It has to be one of the finest moments in the entire series. Uraraka's phone conversation at the end got me to cry again, just like always. This is such a powerful, emotional, brilliant episode. Uraraka and Bakugo are both such fucking legends, and I'm so proud of them. Utter classic.
Another thing a lot of people miss, aside from saying "What part of her was frail" Bakugo also calls her by name in their fight. He never calls anyone by name. That was the moment she had his respect.
Bakuto, the calmer brother of Bakugo 😁 Yeah, Bakugo would do almost anything to win, I think that goes for a lot of the students too. But in the case of a matchup between Bakugo and Uraraka, Bakugo has a quirk advantage. There are not a lot of options for Uraraka to counter Bakugo, plus he can do a lot of damage and can use his quirk to boost mobility in a way Uraraka cannot. Uraraka is pretty much against one of her worst matchups when fighting Bakugo. Gotta feel a little bad about how quickly Yaoyorozu got beat by Tokoyami. She should have attacked or made a long range weapon. Maybe a flare launcher to create enough bright light to disable Dark Shadow and some weapon to gain an advantage in close combat against Tokoyami himself. But clearly this indecisiveness is part of Yaoyorozu's character for now, hopefully she can grow. Bakugo vs Uraraka turned out how everyone expected, but a lot of important things happened, including Aizawa telling everyone off for even thinking Bakugo should hold back or that Uraraka could not take it. In the words of Batman from Batman: The Brave And The Bold; "The hammer of justice is unisex!" Uraraka clearly demonstrated her abilities and intelligence for those guys looking for potential sidekicks in the special seats, coming up with a few tricks, such as the jacket substitution with smokescreen cover and of course that impressive trick of levitating the debris created by Bakugo's attacks. Attacks which Uraraka had no choice but to take directly in order to make her plan succeed. It did cost Bakugo everything to protect himself, but clearly Uraraka's spirit was writing cheques her body could not pay out, so she fell. If she had held out for a little longer, maybe Bakugo would have been drained enough for her to make contact, but then again, floating all that debris must have taken a huge toll on Uraraka too. Ultimately, that fight shows both fighters in a good light. Uraraka for doing as well as she possibly could given her opponent, and Bakugo for taking what should have been a very lopsided fight on paper very seriously. It's hard to find fault with either's conduct here. Actually, if this had been a real fight, all it would take is Uraraka having one team mate and Bakugo would have been too weak to fight the second hero. Given Uraraka's "weak" quirk compared to Bakugo, that could be seen as a very good trade. The fight reminds me a bit of Hinata vs Neji in Naruto. Both went all out and wanted to continue fighting but their body simply took too much damage and they fell. Well, at least Uraraka probably won't make anyone think she is stalking the MC lol. Present Mic brings the hype!
Arguably Uraraka's best fight in the series. Also a really nice touch that they put emphasis on how Bakugo is recognising her, not as a pebble or someone to step over but as an opponent he has to be locked-in for. Everyone underestimated her but he assessed her correctly and didn't. Still loving your MHA reactions! But I also absolutely wanna recommend Tower Of God to you. I'm sure you'd love it!
Bakugo's constantly equating loss to death, and I've always interpreted it as him just getting into his own hero mindset. As a hero when you fight villains with super powers of their own and no moral compunctions, YOU might be trying to take them in alive but there's no reason the villains would do the same. To Bakugo, losing a fight to someone could be the same as losing his life and there are tons of MHA villains who prove him correct
What I love about Deku even in these early seasons is that, while he has no spine when defending himself when people talk shit, the SECOND you disrespect his friends, it does not matter if you’re his childhood bully or the number two hero, he will shut that shit down IMMEDIATELY.
bakugo v uraraka was an amazing and memorable fight. complete with the emotional weight that came with her motivation. going in, i know uraraka's gonna lose, but i'm still team uraraka anyway. kudos for aizawa for standing up for his student like that. i feel like a lot of people misunderstand bakugo, so it's nice to see someone taking his side and help him even when bakugo himself didn't think he needed help
@@flowerweaver22 Literally the same thing... lol "What part of her is frail" (Sub) is the same thing as "I definitely wouldn't call that girl frail" (Dub). It's quite literally exactly the same so not really sure what's "more real and touching".
Fun fact: when Uraraka talks with her parents, she changes accents. She talks with a "countryside" accent, which in Japan usually means she basically comes from a lower income family with respect to her classmates
What many people don't realize is, Bakugo never used his left hand prior to destroying the debris falling. He stored sweat because he never underestimated her and was always on guard
I like that even though Deku is sheepish when initially addressing Bakugo and Endeavor, when they start talking about someone else (Ochaco, Shoto) his demeanor changes immediately. He always puts others before himself
Bakugo's left hand was spazzing out. He definately pushed himself harder than he thought. He respected gravity girl so much right there. Nothing frail about her!
Never liked bakugo never will, the fact u need to try to appeal and explain to people why he is an interesting character, just doesn't work. Todoroki on the other hand is and interesting character. No explanation needed.
