Bal-Sagoth Albums Ranked 

I discovered B-S in 98 when Battle Magic was released. One of the most unique bands to ever exist and it's truly a shame they've been silent for so long. I don't agree with your rankings, but just happy to see people give them some love! My favorites are Power Cosmic, Battle Magic, and Starfire Burning though I love them all!

Starfire Burning is THE MOST PERFECT SYMPHONIC BLACK METAL ALBUM OF ALL TIME! But ALL Bal-Sagoth discography is exeptional! One of a kind!

I've always wanted to find a group to talk about Bal Sagoth's lore, things like: how the imperial lexicon looks like? How was the battle between Zurra and Zuranthus? those kind of things.

Bal-Sagoth is one of the best and most underrated symphonic black metal bands around. Here would be my ranking of their albums and they’re all amazing: 6. A Black Moon Broods Over Lemuria 5. Awesome! Love this band, so ahead of their time. Black Metal combined with Power Metal & Symphonic Metal.

Sick..long overdue! One of the best black metal bands of them all. Check out Kull also. Black moon takes time but it’s incredible. Wouldn’t rate it so low. That said, the other albums are amazing.

Finally, Bal-Sagoth albums ranked🤩🤩🤩 Thank you so much!! Atlantis Ascendant was the first Bal-Sagoth album I bought, and listened to it so many times, and that's still my favourite album ever, too!! But in my ranking I would switch Chtonic Cronicles with A Black Moon Broods Over Lemuria (and the other albums, I don't know... random ranking!) because, I don't know, maybe that wants... tends to be a "perfect conclusion" of their story, you know... How could I say -SPOILER ALERT- the cosmic horrors arrive on the world and swallow everything -SPOILER END- , that "dirty" sound that underlines so well (for me!) the concept, the atmosphere... and maybe I was (too much I'd say) influenced by some bad reviews about A Black Moon; so that's why is so down in my ranking, I agree with you. A Black Moon is a good album, the title track is maybe the best song on it, and is my favourite one, but it is still unripe... They will do better later, for sure, starting right from "...Ice-veiled throne of Ultima Thule" or how-the-fxxx is named😆 (I too have the cds here in the nearby, for a check, but I am tired... so, fxxx it😆)

I agree with most of your rankings, but here are mine (from least favourite to most favourite) In all honesty, there is no bad bal-sagoth album. 1) A Black moon Broods over Lemuria - I feel like this one is an aquired taste and takes some time to get used to. It doesn’t have many symphonic metal themes to it, I would even go as far as to say that it sounds more like a death metal album than a black metal one. Still a really nice ambience from this one. 2) Cthonic Chronicles - This album is great, I really like the theme for this one, I just feel like the tunes aren’t as memorable as later songs. 3) Battle Magic - Naked steel is an INCREDIBLE song, and dark liege of chaos as well (to complete the splendour of a thousand swords trilogy) 4) The Power cosmic - This one just has so many memorable songs with really catchy tunes, and it really represents symphonic black metal in all its glory. 5) Atlantis Ascendant - This is a really well thought out album, with some incredible songs, you can tell Byron Roberts really did some historical research for these songs. It’s truly enthralling and as you said it feels like you’re on a journey to Atlantis. 6) Starfire burning upon the ice veiled throne of Ultima-Thule - This one is just… flawless. Every song is memorable, and the emotions that I experience from this one are esoteric and delphic. It truly is an ethereal album.

Greatest band of all time!!! Their new band is called kull! I actually have cthonic chronicles at 2nd! To be fair they have never released a bad album, not even a bad song in my opinion

Found out about these guys in a zine. Shame a new album hasn’t been put out recently. Apparently the frontman is the only one that doesn’t want to make a new album and the other members do and they formed a new band I’m not sure what it’s called though

Cthonic Chronicles > Starfire Burning > Atlantis Ascendant > Power Cosmic > Battle Magic > Black Moon Broods All of them are 10/10 for me so these are very narrow margins.

Despite being an extreme metal fan since the mid-90s as a teenager, I've only really got into BS in the past 12 months.

My first record from them was Atlantis Ascendant back in 2001 but they were on my radar cause they were part from the Cacophonous Records and that label was pure gold, then I found Battle Magic and the Starfire, and they became My holy Trinity lead by Battle Magic, amazing stuff, the latest album it isn't so bad but it's ,y least favorite

they've never been black metal at all, black moon was death metal maybe, but they were always lumped into that genre probably because of the time they got semi popular and the label they were on. i definitely got into them when i started getting into bm stuff back in the 90s. i lost interest for a while after battle magic because it seemed like sagoth-by-numbers even though no one else sounded like them and it was a bit too silly but i like silly things again now. but anyway whatever they are they make me happy :)
