Millennial here. I found your channel today and I wanted to say I'm excited for this content that I didn't even know I wanted! I subscribed. Hello all.
If your friend is Thomas Dolby, you're even more cool than I thought, David. TD is so talented and the hair look amazing! I'm glad I got to see Thomas in Montreal some years ago, amazing gig, and I wish he'd come back!
It was 1971, I had hair down to my back and for some stupid reason decided to cut it shoulder length. Left the neighbor's house with shorter hair, turned on the radio as I glanced at the new style in the rear view mirror and for the first time heard that Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young song: " Almost Cut my Hair " BUMMED OUT 4 SURE
I wonder how that turned out for him. I understand why men and women feel like they should always have a nice head of hair. It's highly valued in society and associated with youth and vitality. I don't think there's anything wrong with hair pieces or wigs, and I think today, they are much more acceptable to people. I think it just depends on the quality of the piece or wig, and how comfortable a person feels in it. Thanks, David.😊❤
@@mattychristian Same here. Sometimes I dream I brush it. Luckily my head is nicely shaped. Some people even have dents in their head. Anyway. Just go with it. Work out. Be a bald muscle guy.
@@Thomas1984. What gets me is that we can go to the moon and back, invent AI that’s smarter than us, and all the other impressive achievements, but still no way to get your hair back without spending a fortune to transplant. Boggles my mind. I know it’s tied to genetics and testosterone, but the person that actually figures out how to do it naturally is going to be ridiculously rich.
Too cool. I am female, and bald men are awesome 😎 it has never bothered me. Bald or a full head of hair, I am more interested in a mans interior 👍 not the exterior.
I think his hair looks very natural, but he looked good bald as well. He clearly gave a lot of thought to it before he took the leap…and I think he is right, hoe you feel about your hair or lack of it should be the deciding factor. I love your kicky glasses David, are they new? I think it is fun to play with our own personal styles and not be stuck in a rut. In my family, the women never cut our hair unless someone we love dies. Usually we cut a lock from behind the left ear, close to the scalp. The time it takes to grow out enough that you no longer notice it, is the time it takes to adjust to the loss of that person from your life. That doesn’t mean you don’t still grieve the loss, but that it is no longer so sharp and overwhelming as when it was fresh and acute.🖤🇨🇦
People should do what they want to do to feel good. And others shouldn't shame anyone. Wear a wig, go get treatments, a hair topper, or go bald. But do what is good for YOU!! Wigs have come a long way. You don't have to spend hundreds or thousands to get a good-looking wig. Even synthetic ones look great.
David you sure do know some gifted and talented people that you have the pleasure of calling friends like (Ellen Starr, Ara Dinkjian, Marvin Plummer, Anton Schwartz, Thomas Dolby and Peter Thomas) that you have feature their works on your channel at one point very impressive. P.S. I am sure that they think you're a gifted and talented filmmaker and cameraman as well.
Losing hair can be humiliating, for some people more than others. Females, males... There may be different causes and 'patterns' to the hair loss, but when it comes down to it hair is (and is biologically) a HUGE part of our identity and sexual display. I credit people who can live it down when their hair fails... But mostly, admire the b4lls and panache of people who take steps to keep or retrieve what hair they can. The way you are treated, regarded by people can change 180º depending on how you style/wear your hair. If I had one "altruistic" wish to expend on humanity, I'd wish that anyone down in the dumps about their hair loss could get it back and feel that "AW YEAH" of identity+reputation RECONCILING
Hair pieces were seen as emberassing because of the occasional emberassing situation that would happen back when they weren't attached to the head as good as they are now. And because of how much they have advanced they have lost their botchy image. Nobody even talks about them anymore and I think that's because you can't tell, nobody notices them on people anymore. They have fallen into obscurity from the public mind even though they are there. So Mr. Dolby talking about them and giving a testimony might give someone who was considering a hair transplant an alternative option to think about. In fact I think now it's hair transplants that have become the new emberassing thing people are snickering about. Because of how weird the hair starts to look when the balding progresses. In contrast hair pieces seem be the smarter solution nowadays.
Been going bald for the last 10 years. Still have long hair. Rocking the Hulk Hogan look 😅 But honestly though, I do want hair plugs. I can't get them due to pre-existing medical conditions so a hair system is the way I have to go. I've never felt ashamed about doing this and I always said I'd be 100% honest and open about whatever I got done. It's important to break the stigma. That being said, I feel no shame over being bald, but I just don't want to be. Once it's gone, if you bring it back it's basically a fashion accessory so hey, may as well have fun with it! Also, Thomas's hair looks awesome. Good for him.
I say (If it makes you happy do it!) Thomas always looks great either way!👍 And his musical talent is just beyond words!🎶 Personally I like balding, comb some skin over, looks fuller! Lol😂😂😂✌
@@drewpall2598 Absolutely Drew! Kojak! 😂👍 And many others!! Personally Idc about what anyone looks like, I'm only drawn to what's on the inside: hearts & minds are all that matters to me! 😁❤💛☮✌
For people in showbiz it's maybe a little different, insofar as people may be paying a lot of money to go see them in concert, so a little razzledazzle is to be expected. They're only human, can't be expected to defy aging forever, but I don’t think most people want to see a really low effort presentation. So long as it looks good, does it matter how real everything is? Would audiences rather see a gap toothed grin over some tooth implants for example? Makeup and wigs have always been part of putting on a show, so I cut performers a little slack on that.
Last time I saw Thomas Dolby onstage and here on your channel he was smooth surfaced like me. Now I don’t recognize him….yet as a performing musician he needs to mix it up and present a new new image!
Lol… we lived in Melbourne in the 1990’s. The highest rated radio show was breakfast ….“Lawyers..Guns and Money… that show’s highest rated segment was …. Rug Watch >>>>>. Famous people in Melbourne were outed for wearing a rug…. Hahahahahahaha.
Im sorry, too many tats to suit me. And just not attractive on women to me. Im 71, have a "decent" head of hair, but if I go bald, I'm "close cropping" it. I'm just happy to still be alive. If I were wealthy, I may feel differently.👍
