I really don't get it. The people who disliked this, must be very sad and bitter individuals. Surely, you'd only know to come to this soundtrack, because you know the game and if you know the game and wanted to check out the soundtrack, it'd surely be because you liked the game and the soundtrack. I don't think it's possible to like the game and not like the soundtrack, so the people who found this, must have disliked the game so much, that they thought "Fuck.. I'm going to go dislike the soundtrack on RU-vid too, because I'm a bitter cunt" WTF LOL?

Or they missclicked. Or they listened to different soundtracks on youtube and landed here by randomly clicking options in the sidebar and actually didn't like it (which means they have bad taste but not necessarily means they are bitter). Anyway, best RPG ever made with a really great soundtrack. It brings back so many fond memories.

This is a terrifying game. I am playing it for the first time right now, 13 hours in. It is very difficult sometimes, even on normal difficulty. At least two times I got really frustrated with it, but I made it through these situations and that was very rewarding. It's not quite like any other game, not even BG1. No matter where you go, everything feels so alive and dangerous. All quests feel important and it's always a difficult decision what to do first. The inn in the slums of the main town gives off an atmosphere like you are going to get skinned alive any second now, like you're about to get eaten by some rough people who eat nails for breakfast. In other words, this could be one of the greatest games I have ever played.

First time i stubled around the graveyard district and the tombs, not knowing what i was getting myself into. Or the feeling of leaving the city for the first time, to roam the lands like in BG 1. Finding the Weathertop Hills and an strange tomb which felt extremely important, even thou it had nothing to do with the main quest. Moments of horror the first time i found a secret door in some random Inn, only to find a Lich which my juvenile brain had no idea how to defeat (because to hell with spells who needs them?). The invasion of D'arnise Keep, running from Trolls because i hadn't paid attention to the briefing from the captain telling me to use fire or acid. I love how powerful you become in the game, but to me nothing beats the first playthrough of this game, where you feel mystified by all the different enemies and locations.

One of the best games ever made. I still remember the day I first heard this music. One of the coolest things about BG2 is that you got to start the game as a character of decent level with plenty of abilities. Actual D&D: I cast fireball! BG2: I cast timestop and quicken, which in combination with my magical robe reduces the casting time of my spells by 3. Then I use the remaining time to cast 14 magic missiles, 6 fireballs, 5 lightning chains, 7 fingers of death and timestop again. That gives me enough time to summon 18 giant spiders and give all of them greater invisibility and improved haste.

That first theme while you're creating your character... I was a wee lad and absolutely enchanted by the music, whenever it went: as it was pounding, I began creating a mighty fighter, than while it got mysterious - a wizard, then a ranger or paladin when the music became philosophical and tragic... and then it repeated itself and I began my character anew. I've spent hours, probably in that manner, fantasizing, imagining these characters in game and their fates. And boy, did I know what great game was ahead, waiting for me to start!

The sadistic villain. More villains attack the first one. Khalid dead, no hope. Prisoner dilemma by an escaped efreet. Golems, dryad slaves, weird rooms, fire plane, hidden libraries, and a traitor infiltrated among us. Suddenly, you burst into a sunny, bustling city controlled by oppressive mages. This has to be one of most gripping and clever introduction chapter: a driving quest, a feeling of weakness, several factions, and a constrained world opening up.

Absolutely. There are many good game scores around - people rave about the various Elder Scrolls sound tracks, for example - but this one really does stand out as exceptionally fine and atmospheric. I agree with BG2 having one of the best soundtracks ever. Very high level of skill behind all those tunes. But then again, they used so legendary voice actors in this game that I'm not hugely surprised that the soundtrack too is superb! Another game that I remember has amazing soundtrack is Grim Fandango. Pure art from start to finish! In my opinion, this is how computer games should be made. Pretty much everything in BG2 is great. Gameplay works nicely, graphics are beautiful, soundtrack and voice actors are brilliant, the story is amazing and pretty clever too and the game overall has amazing atmosphere. They just spent so much effort in making a good game that it certainly lasts time very well. Then there are those games that have amazingly good graphics and gameplay might be good too but the story and atmosphere are bad so those games get old the minute that they can bring out a new game with better graphics...

What's truly astonishing here is the consistency of quality this soundtrack delivers. You reliably get great songs from most experienced composers in the industry (Inon Zur // Jeremy Soule // Duke, Stafford, Haley // Pokrovsky // Wall+Hulick ... and many more). But every single piece, every single bit of this soundtrack works perfectly. The overarching atmosphere is stunning. The tension is gripping. The individual themes (Jaheira, Good, Evil, Viconia ...) are daunting and continue to haunt me to this day. Lastly, I think 'Domain of the Dragon' is probably the best single bit of videogame soundtrack ever composed. It is beyond great. It's sublime.

Merci Michael Hoenig.
