There's actually a tabletop RPG that does away with explicit turn-based mechanics. Obviously there's some limits imposed by the fact that the DM can only acknowledge/keep track of so many things, but every action (and their damage) is handled by rolling a pair of d6s - and in practice, the flow is largely dictated more by theatrical descriptions of actions than by anything else. Silly nonsense like one player catapulting another through the air for a ridiculous attack goes much more smoothly than in 5e for example. Can't remember the name of it for the life of me though.
There's several whole genres that do that. You might like PbtA, which uses it (games include Avatar, Thirsty Sword Lesbians, and Rapscallion), but there's also other games like Seventh Sea, Spire/Heart, Nasty Brutish and Long, and Honey Heist! Have fun!
Nightsong can single handly clear the moon rise tower is surprisingly lore accurate tho. wouldn't expect less from a literal daughter of a goddness lol
Okay but I'd love to see this with the mod that increases max party size so you can have a dozen insane adventurers sprinting around and bashing people in
You should do a “become what you kill” challenge. Anything you kill in combat you become it in the middle of combat. Start as a paladin, then become a goblin, then become the netherbrain.
@@lukas8708I have no problem with the speed, but makes sense especially in Act 3, because the enemy encounters become way too much for me especially when they bring their own summons in Act 3 and I just have four party members waiting for their turn after 5-7 Combat Rounds.
I was never gonna use this mod because I didn't want to deal with the level of chaos. But I was curious how it would play out. So thank you, Bouch, for giving into the urge to try out ridiculous things in BG3 once more!
Honestly I think this mod needs 3 main things 1 a pause button (this makes combat easier) 2 better party ai /ai in general 3 the ability to use spells than need to be used in combat in real time combat
The first one completely defeats the purpose of real time combat. The best choice, which I don't know if it would even be possible, is to add some sort of slowdown.
@@dotXyore I mean for the main part every other dnd game that has real time combat has a pause button Either a pause or a slo down option it doesn’t matter but it’s a nice option either way
@@dotXyore real time with pause is how basically every single other DnD inspired modern CRPG works it's a great system and it's definitely much different than turn based
I've always wondered what the game would've been like if it wasn't turn-based. Thank you for making this a reality Mr. Modder. Really hope that it'll eventually make it to the PS5.
Cool until you meet enemies that reduce all incoming damage by a flat amount lmao I guess those would have to have custom programming? Ex Ketheric reduces all incoming damage by 2.
@@alliu6562 A way it could work is the enemies getting their hp in unbreakable stacks. That way you did their entire hp in damage but still can win against damage reduction
If anything you proved how well Larian's engine handles time manipulation and how carefully constructed it is So much so that you wove around any progression-blockers and delivered a truly unique demonstration of a playthrough. The Divinity Engine will never cease to amaze me with how flexible it is for RU-vid Creators.
This is the funniest thing I've seen on youtube this week, it's so satisfying to see you break the game with the Glut! Solo Honor mode with this mod is probably an absolute nightmare....... you should try it LOL
Maybe once it’s updated more it would be possible to do solo honor mode, but as it’s shown in this video I’d honestly wager it’s literally impossible 😭😭
Never had a doubt since the beginning, but if this doesn't prove it, nothing will. You're easily the best player this game has ever seen. Aylin and Glut blew my mind but what followed? My mind is blown. Impressive beyond words. Never stop making content.
The animated spores ability is super cool, but it doesn't count the creatures brought back with it as undead. I know, I tried to use control undead on one
@@Bufos.Gusing a mod that disabled the level requirements l, I was able to find out that control undead can control Ketheric thorn, Malus Thorn, and even Ansur, however the other two thorns and Balthazar all have immunity to the control undead ability. They actually have an effect that simply states that they are too powerful to be mind controlled. I think the reason why is pretty obvious for why ansur and Ketheric don't have it, larian never intended anyone to be a higher level than them especially at the time of the fight, so it would be impossible anyway, but I find it hilarious that Ansur-level 17 undead dragon-does not have an immunity a level 8 undead necromancer does
@@SebasTian58323 yeah its realy hilarious. Considering he is strong enough to resist the elder brain and can revive himself. He's just too powerfull for this 🤣
As always, very interesting and fun video! Maybe you can make another one when the mod is more stable? ...I wonder when Morgana Evelyn will try this mod 😆
I love how even tho Karlach probs isn't the best choice here, Bouch just decided to engage the grindset and make Mommy K do her thing anyways instead of re-doing it and pretending it never happened.
Honestly, the fact that this game was turn based is the reason I picked it up, I've NEVER enjoyed the real time nature of most crpgs. It always feels like a nightmare to control... Kinda just like this mod, so good job dev I guess ;D
I finished my first pure evil playthrough today but the final battle took forever because I decided to summon the entire pact of allies, so imagine one turn.... felt like forever, so I watched youtube between each turns....... with that said....... I wondered "isn't there a way they can skip the NPC dashing and wasting my time!?" Then I got this recommended on my youtube. My conclussion: I will never take it for granted again.
5e combats without turns feel like when an entire bar, soaked with hard liquor and barely able to see straight, decides to have a free-for-all fistfight
that glut tech sounds incredibly fun, I always wanted to get him out of there since so far I have only been messing around with him in the underdark, I have used Anders as a spore servant since he can still use divine smites and he has extra attack so i essentially get a free level 5 paladin, and i have also used it on dror ragzlin and sarth baretha, but now i can try with even more enemies
This was amazing, love the smell of Brie wafting through the video. Would love to see you do this with a companion play through similar to your previous one.
Oh look, a mod that turns BG 3 combat into BG 1/2 combat... Oh, wait...its way more chaotic cause its ACTUAL real time, and not Bhaalspawn saga realtime
hey i have an idea for a run idea, you can have one op race mod and than you play. however the rules are, no healing in combat that isnt spells, no leveling up unless you die, no poitons in combat. than you see if you can beat the game, with the least amount of levels. ps great content!
I don't have the greatest knowledge of the game, so I don't know if there is enough of it in BG3 for it to make sense as a run, but an idea I had for a challenge would be a "debuff" run. Trying to get all those debuffs like loosing an eye to Ethel while avoiding buffs like the awakened parasite from the creche
If the mod author adds a 6 seconds cool down to every action, and makes actions that require you to be in combat to activate based on the presence of NPCs marked as red on your map, they will have made BG3 into Dragon Age Origins
I think you might be able to bring Raphael with you into the Overworld by knocking him out with a non-lethal attack. Doing this is enough for the exit portal to open and he recovers from any incapacitating conditions after one turn, including knocked out.
I really hope they won't fix a bug of taking Glut to later acts! It's so much fun! Yeah spore servant Mircul mind control is still not an option without a mod, but you still can take for example Gortash.
