Exactly. While the song is of course great to begin with, Rachel's delivery makes into something special. The smoothness, the gentle aspect transforms it into a truly amazing piece of music.

Yeah, sometimes smoothness can remove some of the energy of a piece. Sometimes a breaking voice can convey a lot of emotion, for instance. But this particular smoothness IMO is better for the simple reason that it's thematically about dreams and romance and an almost ethereal otherworldly beauty. It's thematically appropriate to have smooth as silk singing. I like both though!
