Hi, Gopher. I just want to thank you for all your content ❤. Been watching Skyrim for a few years now and I love both your gameplays and your rants! Even better: Short swords 🙃 Dagger is 1d4 Short sword is 1d6. A rapier is 1d8 but you lose the off hand attack (bonus action). Astarion is not proficient with shields, but Rapier+shield is a solid build for a melee rogue in BG3 (Assassin or Arcane trickster.)

As for a game to play just for yourself, this one is actually perfect for that. There is so much replayability and there is just so much that differ just based on race and class. There's also the Dark Urge option, which is absolutely something you should try at some point, either on your own or with a friend you can definitely get many campaigns out of this. So once you're done with this on streams, it's for sure worth a playthrough on your own in private. My own reason for not watching as much of your fallout or starfield series are mostly a setting thing, I prefer high fantasy with magic, mystic, elves, beasts and dragons over the post apocalyptic and space. (Also I just grew up on Elder Scrolls and it's always gonna appeal to me if it is in that world) So on that note, yes yes yes, I'd be so down for Skyrim again, both new character or any one of the old friends making a return.

32:53 Larian threw players a bone and made it so Wizards, Clerics and Paladins (who prepare their spells) can change what spells they have memorized at any time if you're out of combat. In tabletop you can only do so during a long rest.
@palazard95
@palazard95 9 месяцев назад
Its so wild to see Gopher just default to remembering Vancian casting. Spell Slots are a resource to spend on any spell you have memorized or prepared. Bards, Sorcerers, Warlocks, and Rangers memorize their spells when they level up. Clerics, druids, and paladins prepare whatever spell they want from their class list at any point during the day. Wizards do too, but they dont get their entire class spell list. They have to add spells to their spellbook either by destroying scrolls or by leveling up. Back in 2e and 3.5, spells were prepared by choosing what spells you wanted to cast and how many times you wanted to cast them each morning. That is referred to now as Vancian casting, based on Vance, an author who came up with that idea for spells.

So if anybody's curious the way spellslots for prepared casters in 5E work comes from the Arcanist class in the Pathfinder system which itself is a fork from 3.5E. It's very convenient not having to memorize say two casts of Magic Missile, one cast of Shield, one cast of Mage Armor etc. just prepare it on the list and cast whatever combination you need when you need it.

Fyi you're playing a bard a bard is more of a suport class. So if you're planing to stay in the back lines buffing characters then good you picked the right class. Frontline classes damage dealers Fighter Barbarian Paladin Monk Range damage dealers Rogue Ranger Support classes Bard (buff) giving bonuses to attacks, saves and advantage. Druid(crowd control) Cleric (healer), Magic offense Wizard Sorcerer Warlock
@CrazyxEnigma
@CrazyxEnigma 9 месяцев назад
Bard can be anything depending on which subclass he picks it's one of the strongest classes in the game and 5E as a whole. Lore is all about making what it currently does up to eleven all the skills and all the spells with magical secrets you can take spells from the wizard list and pick whatever suits what you're doing go for damage or better cc. Wizards and Sorcs are by virtue of the spell list and in Sorcs case metamagic better but on Balanced it doesn't matter. Sword is one of if not the best ranged damage dealers in the game flourish with dual hand crossbows is obscenely powerful and it's no slouch in melee either better as a multi in this case but again on Balanced Gopher won't have any problems once he gets familiar with the mechanics.

A good way to remember which is which... 'can'trips 'can' be done any time. Whereas you have to rest a 'spell' after casting a 'spell'. Though, cantrips are usually weaker versions of whichever type of similarly-available magic options there are. --- I actually remember to 'Like" Cyberpunk when I run those episodes, like as soon as I load them up. So don't think it is going unappreciated, at least by me... I only ever remember to do so with 2077, Skyrim, and New Vegas/3/maybe 4. For the other series you do I'll sometimes remember, but they're usually just background Gopher while I play my own games, instead of episodes I actively look forward to watching, and are easy for me to forget about. The pacing on Starfield is what kills that series for me, not your RP'ing. I still watch it, cuz Gopher, but if you aren't running around a town doing something interesting (like the recent dealing with Ashta, or earlier when you were helping the miners) it just kind of drags on. At least there, you're character gets a chance to REACT to things in-character, and you know, BE a character in a world. Doesn't matter how good of storytelling chops you've got. For example: You hear of a point of interest to go see -> warp there -> 80% or more chance of a space battle (generally of attrition, lots of "BANG BANG", and garbled speech on the other end) -> land where you need to land -> see where you need to go on the 'map' and shoot a few hostile critters on your way there -> get there and then shoot a few baddies either before OR after getting to your objective (you know to keep is 'fresh') -> head back to your shop, or another location on the same planet, and shoot a few more hostile critters -> take off for space and head back to where you got the initial quest - > and have another 50/50 chance of another space battle -> turn in quest... Rinse, Repeat... only so many ways any one person can say "oh cute critter" - "OMG VICIOUS *shooty mcSHOOTY-BANG-BANG" and - "Oh. Look. Starborn appeared. What a shock." Whereas, you go on a quest in the other games I mention, there's dozens of things to do just getting from point A to point B. Just think how much there is to do on a simple walk from Whiterun to Rorikstead... Bugs to catch, a wandering pooch, maybe a small patrol of imperial guards escorting a prisoner, a couple wolves to take care of, maybe an assassin or a wandering giant, then there's a few points of interest right on the map, like a fort or two, a giant's camp, and that one rock formation with the Shrine of Zenithar under it (or was it another shrine, it's been a while). PLENTY of things to organically work off of as a character. :)

You shouldn't need a mnemonic device to remember cantrips are weak spells you can use all you want, and leveled spells require spell slots to cast. This is literally TWO very simple pieces of information, it isn't difficult to keep straight.
@1WolfFan
@1WolfFan 8 месяцев назад
@@haku8135 *You* shouldn't need one, and *I* shouldn't need one either... But we're used to d20 systems and understand the mechanics. It's not that easy for people who aren't familiar with "weird dice", or new-comers to tabletop RP-gaming, or younger kids who are just stepping out of Chutes and Ladders or Monopoly to try other styles of games, or even people who have played a lot of video games, and love the RP aspect of some of them so much that they decided to try the tabletop versions of roleplaying. Heck I didn't even know there WERE cantrips before I learned the official system; I just thought ALL the spells worked like cantrips (also thought magic regenerated over the course of a day, lol). I was one of those guys that played a lot of video games, and really enjoyed all the cool things you could do. I hadn't even gotten to the part where I liked the Role-Play aspect yet, when I picked up my first couple "For Dummies" book, THEN went ahead and read several source books, cover to cover. And while Baulder's Gate covers the mechanics VERY well, and pretty much IS D&D; that's part of the problem. It has ALL the mechanics; and ALL the mechanics at once, can EASILY overwhelm even good RP-gamers. There's so many things to try and learn if you don't know d20 systems (let alone DnD specifically). It's not hard at all to miss the 'simple' things, like cantrips v. spells; or long rest v. short rest, or what abilities last all day until the next long rest, and which ones are only good for one roll; or the difference between a class ability, a cross-class ability, and a racial ability, and a skill. There's a reason so many people are recommending Gopher pick up some source books and learn some of the mechanics that way. It would be less overwhelming than all that this amazing game has to offer. But he's got a lot going on in his life, and doesn't really have that much time to get into it. He has enough "homework" with editing his various RP-series.

Totally agree regarding that Cyberpunk conversation with Vic, and the thing is, it would have been SO easy to cut out those lines for 2.0. Maybe they'd have needed to bring back the VA to smooth things out, but I don't think it would have required much. The way I tend to view Vic's prognosis, is I compare it to those situations in RL you sometimes hear about, where people are given a terminal diagnosis, and yet they still manage to hang on far longer than anyone ever expected. It's honestly the only thing that makes sense, not to mention that if you grab the iguana egg during the heist... that thing takes something like two months of game-time to hatch without the mod that expedites the process...so.. given that timeline, it is very clear V survives for longer than "just a few weeks." Anyway, as always, thanks for the stream; it's a lot of fun to watch you play this game, and like everyone else here, I'll be really interested to see your reactions to various characters and events.

22:28 I chose the second one because I read it as meaning ALL a person’s deeds. Ie, if you give your neighbour a lift to the grocery store or drop in on an elderly person living alone or in any way at all give up a portion of your own life to nurture others. Conversely, if you play loud music in your apartment at 2am knowing full well you are disturbing the entire block or park in front of the doctor’s driveway. In other words, I think anyone that brings more ease than distress are more worthy.

It's definitely making things interesting watching you burn through all your spell slots in a single fight or on healing when you could short rest. I'm just glad you've figured out how preparing spells and spell slots work by the end of the stream. The preparing spells is actually very similar to the memory system in DOS 2 if that helps further clarify. I hadn't considered you were using your memory of 2nd edition D&D as a frame of reference with this games systems, but yes 1000% things are way different in the 5th edition which this game uses as its base. As you saw with the "speak with dead" spell reading what things do in its *entirety* can really clear up some confusion eh? I'd say this game is pretty big on RTFM if you want to know what's going on most of the time. I'll leave off with saying that I'm looking forward to seeing you learn to ration your resources like spell slots more efficiently to the point you're getting through easier fights without needing to spend any.

@Sp4rt4nSl4ya no it mean make them face a bigger threat. It's why you should always have a fighter with you. They get up close and personal. Tell me you see someone running up to you with a really big sword. Are you worried about the one that is far away from you or the big sword swinging to cut off your head? The thing I don't understand is everyone seems to play a bard but doesn't play a bard like how it should be played. A bard is a support charater that does buff giving plusses to attack, and saves etc. But not one plays them like that and wounder why they go down so fast. It's why they have bardic music. It inspires their Allies to battle giving them bonuses. I see 1 bard, 1 Rogue, 1 cleric, 1 wizard. Not really a good line up. All of them is pretty squishy. Yes Rouge are damage dealers but they're range and depend on fighters/Barbarians/paladins to keep them busy. The damage that comes from the Rogue Comes from their sneak attacks. How it should be at the very lest is 1-2 fighter/Barbarian/paladin 1 Rogue/Ranger 1 cleric/Druid/bard 1 wizard/Sorcerer/warlock At the very least. Or 1 Fighter/Barbarian I'd go for the Barbarian because they can rage which makes them a tank with a lot of damage. Bard (buff charaters) Druid (crowd control with some healing) Cleric (healer that can turn undead) Or how I do it I (play rogues) 1 fighter 1 Barbarian 1 cleric And me the rogue. Might switch out the cleric with a Mage of some kind if I need to do long range area damage. I keep my cleric back healing the Frontline while I stay to the shadows doing sneak attack and doing massive damage. If someone wants to go having and slashing Bard is not the class you use People seriously need to learn about the classes and the races. Because a bard is not going to do a lot of damage theor rapier is more for self defense. If anything they are closer to rogues they are more range. And even then they don't get sneak attack bonuses. And rogues has more skills then any other class. I really hate saying people is playing wrong. But at the same time I'm like "what are you doing! Use your bardic music so they have bonuses to attack! You're a bard FFS!" Lol Strategy and tactics is very good for D&D If you ever played TTRPGs before you will know there is no saves if your charater dies it's dead. You roll up a new character. There is no undo button. There is no "Humm? Let's see what happens and if I don't like it I'll reload " You tend to be very careful of how you do things. Especially at low levels. Because you can't resurrect anyone. If you learn about what the classes is about and the races you can get a really good idea what race is good with what class and know how to set up your party and you don't always have to waste healing and other resources. If someone plays a bard I'd expect them to have a very high charisma. Because it's kinda important to a bard. They are the smooth talkers, the performer's, the ones that can get any girl/ guy they want into bed. That's a bard. Rogues can do that to but bards has Charm person. Rogues don't. How I would set up a bard Theo I would never play a bard or a paladin STR:10 DEX: 12 CON:10 INT: 10-12 WIS: max CHA: max Skills: persuasion, Deception, Sense Motive, and Perform

@@amehayami934 you say no, but then describe the exact same situation I did with extra flavor. I was speaking mechanically because "distracted" is vague and for anyone unfamiliar with the mechanics like Gopher might not get specifically what that implies, after all being on fire could be considered "distracted" by most. You clearly seem to know 5th edition rules well and prefer an optimal play style, but you've gotta remember the last edition Gopher played was 2nd, and he's not the type to sit there min maxing his character and playing perfectly optimally to the classes strengths either. He's still learning so he couldn't even if he wanted to, just give it time and he'll get the hang of how each of his characters work eventually. In the end he's only playing on balanced so it's not like he has to play optimally anyway. I'm more of the mind that sometimes the suboptimal builds can be more fun or interesting because it leads to more critical thinking and improvisation to get through those tough situations where the min maxed build would've made it trivial and boring. Being able to effortlessly stomp opponents is still fun to me, but I generally prefer that in games like Vermintide and Doom, not strategy games like DOS or BG3.

TES6 will be a disaster. IMO Bethesda have been concentrating on the Engine Development and dumping on the Story developers, so FOLON has made them look bad because of the story development. It's also just bad IMO that the AAA devs like BGS are trying to make bigger, more complex, more time consuming, and by corollary more expensive games. IMO They would make more money by making smaller games that take maybe 50 hours of play time including side-quests with regular DLC's of similar length. Love your work, regardless. Yeah having extensive experience with CRPGs this stuff is easy for me to figure out but for people who don't know and have no knowledge of anything it's not very intuitive. Easy to take that for granted.

@@Dionyzos I'd say an in game tutorial is too tricky to pull of using the D&D 5e rule set it's too complex to explain in short burst pop-up style, even seasoned players mess up rules all the time. I guess the next best thing is reading the 5e Handbook, or as we used to say in the good old days: RTFM.

Regarding CP2077. I played on PC and had been following the development for years. They so over promised and under delivered at the beginning I quit playing after a few hours. I still have a bad taste in my mouth about it. Plus the main story is meh, IMO. Several of the side quests/gigs are way better to play through.

FYI this isn't skyrim you can choose to do practically anything. (1) look at things in 3D meaning top, bottom side to side. (2) you can right click on objects for more options. Like stack, throw, place etc. (3) you can do practically anything. If you think it you probably can do it like (hey big heavy objects over a ground that is cracked and is only held up with a peace of rope? Maybe I can shoot it let it fall making a hole in the ground so I can get in.) Hey barrels filled with oil how about I fire ball or ignite that and burn all my enemies 😊 etc. Infact it doesn't only apply to actions your words can help too If you are good enough you can convince idk a devil that is stupid enough to order his demons to kill themselves and to kill himself.

I'm surprised anyone believed them to be honest. It sounds like they promised the impossible. I think this is one of the reasons I tend to avoid the hype and just keep my expectations grounded in what currently exists rather than what game companies promise. But then I lived through the era of adverts promising that you would be irresistible to women if you wore Lynx deodorant :) The main story in CP2077 is great BTW, but that's judging it as a whole rather than how it starts. Not sure how I'd rank it's first few hours though. It's hard to sort of evaluate to be honest because it's barely even started at that point. But I'd imagine you got as far as the brain-dance at the very least, and honestly I thought that was really good.

I was disappointed because it wasn't at all impossible what they promised. From the very first announcement they said it was gonna take a long time. Enough time for great things. And, though god knows the Witcher series wasn't without (sometimes major at launch) troubles, they showed incredible growth and skill from their first game to their third game. If they could've held on to that line, it would have been an epic game. Probably not quite as shiny as the adverts, sure, but stuff rarely is. A lot of stuff that got added was great, but it already should've been there. And I don't particularly care for pointing fingers at specific people years on, but somebodies effed up big time, because it wasn't impossible and nobody's gonna remember C77 for all the cool things it did, because the things it didn't do were glaring, even without promises, false or true. @GophersVids

Tries to put a chest inside itself by mistake, makes a conclusion that it is impossible to put a non empty chest inside another bigger chest... Oh boy. I wish that the chat instead of telling Gopher how to min max his stats would tell him how the UI works, or how some mechanics works in general. For example - i think he still doesn't know that the button that highlights interactible objects doesn't highlight nearly close to everything. He already missed some content because of that. Would be nice if someone told Gopher to not rely on that button too much. Or hinted him that he can move objects during combat so to create barricades or to make a trap with explosive barrels. There is so many things player can do here - this game is much less about dry stats and numbers than other similar RPGs, but so far it seems that Gopher is oblivious that.

@Nyarurin 9 месяцев назад
@@GophersVids I’m sorry. I wrote the comment right as I saw your confusion with chests. The chat did indeed correct you on that pretty quickly afterwards. And by the end of the video I saw you noticed that the button doesn’t highlight everything. Didn’t care to change my comment as I didn’t think you would read it. I understand that you will miss some content inevitably especially as you are playing through this one live on stream. But also as a fan of your modded Skyrim and Fallout LPs, where I know that you know those games all ins and outs, I guess I am just kinda used to the idea that whenever you choose to miss content there - it is a part of your RP, a part of your character’s narrative story, a creative decision on your part. So when you are missing content here because you simply don’t know about some game mechanics - that does generate some frustration in me. I know that it is a part of a blind playthrough, I just wish that ppl would help you to get a better understanding of those mechanics sooner rather than later, as I crave to see you making informed decisions and RP-based decisions, not just stumble around in a dark. Anyway, in case you would happen to see this response I want to use this opportunity to give you a few tips on the game (no spoilers): - When a few of your characters are next to each other on the chain of turns you can freely switch between them and make actions on any of them in whatever order. - Pay attention to the spells that require concentration - not only a character can only concentrate on one spell at the time, but also if they got attacked they can lose concentration dispelling the spell. That works both for you and your enemies. - Unlike many other isometric RPGs this one behaves somewhat as an immersive sim. Which allows some non typical ways to deal with your enemies. You can manipulate a lot of objects in game, move them around, put them in your inventory (you can even take corpses with you), use their explosive or other properties. You can pick up your enemies (if you have a character with enough strength or you are dealing with small enough enemies) to throw them in to each other or in to traps or even to their death from a high place. Don’t afraid to think outside the box and use the environment - this game will reward you for it with success and memorable moments. - Magic is not only just damage numbers and buffs - think how spells could effect the environment or how they can displace enemies, you might find something fun and beneficial. - When you go in to stealth during combat you can see an afterimage - that is where the enemies remember seeing you, so if you remain there they might check on you and find you right away more easily. - You can dual wield some weapons which will also allow you to do a second attack with your left hand using a bonus action (this for example works for daggers and small one-handed crossbows). - The damage you mainly see on a tool-tip for a weapon depends on the stats of the character that is holding it. You can see more detailed info about weapon’s damage under big number. - You can poison your weapons and arrows Leonard style, or tip them in fire or toxin on the ground. - You can destroy doors if you have strong enough source of damage to go through its damage threshold. - You can jump (z by default) and it is required to fully explore the map. - You can see on the map what areas are exploreble - the no go zones are darker than areas where you can walk. I have found many secrets just by staring at the map while pausing for a tea.

the reason why people Arnt watching starfield is because starfield was pretty well hated on. they the whole "empty worlds" argument plus the randomly generated content. there's just a general frustration with Bethesda that they haven't been addressing for many years. what exactly that "issue" is widely depends on person to person. i thank the game don't look bad but i thank starfield issue is for players who intentionally avoid the main story and just end up on randomly made copy past maps.

People don't like Starfield because it's bad. There's not ONE thing, not one argument. It's just bad in a LOT of ways. It falls flat in so many areas. The story is awful, the faction system is incredibly bland, none of it interacts (if you become a pirate that doesn't really MEAN anything, it even breaks some quests), the weapons are lame, the actual design of the universe is suuuuuuuuper boring. It's all humans and the technology is pretty generic. Compare it to Mass Effect, with a massive galaxy to explore with interesting people, awesome alien designs, and a personality in everything from the tech to even just outfits. Starfield has traded quality for quantity, and it really really shows. There's loads of videos on why Starfield isn't good, and none of them have claimed it's ONE issue.

@@haku8135 i was just saying in general and as Gohper said some people did indeed like the game though general the game is being panned i think mostly for its stigma as a bethesda game. like for a moment forget Starfield was bethesda and was made by some other studio. youd call it an alright to pretty mid game. not the worst game you ever played by a mile. BUT becuse this game is yet another time sink thats killing off your chances for the next Elder scrolls or Fallout to come out before you die of old age or worst yet the game coming out bad because of a lack of innovation and a change of engines. thats what Starfield is. its making them think Bethsda is going to screw up while taking longer. imagine if starfield 2 happens and the work cycle its going to take for now on for them to make 3 games back to back while refusing to outsource or let anther company try there hands at the series even though fallout new vagus and ESO are some of there most popular titles? star field is more symbolically troubling them really a bad game... could it have been better? yes, did bethesda make a no mans sky level of a promise that equally fell flat? yesbut honestly i dont care about the game save for that there idea of inovation if star field is any exsample is going to make the over 10 years of waiting for anther Elder scrolls game not be worth it.

To me for Starfield the only stuff worth watching is the main faction quests which are actually good. All the side stuff is very underwhelming to watch. That's not a hard rule, Skyrim or fallout have more decent side content for some reason. Starfield's just fall flat for whatever reason.

I feel like the NPCs in Starfield are more "alive" than they were in Skyrim. Apart from a day/night/weekly schedule, I feel like the faces are a hell of a lot better. But IMO the lack of a schedule was more of an issue with city design than anything. Most NPCs don't have houses to return to and leave from.

I genuinely don't think they'll learn or grow from this. I'd loosely hoped Starfield might be the turning point of BGS getting back to their roots and really delivering some A or even B tier content again, but they somehow fell short of even Fallout 4 despite all the criticism that got. It's going to take some serious changes in how they operate, manage their teams, and who's leading said teams for them to even come close to making tes6 compare to any previous tes games. They can start with not scrapping good features from previous titles in favor of over simplified ones that feel arcadey.

@@Sp4rt4nSl4ya That they don't. Just about everybody criticized the voiced protagonist and still they were going to do it until they themselves realized it wasn't going to work when they could've avoided wasting that amount of time and money if they actually listened to criticism. I think a lot of the problems they have are because Emil is in a lead position and he shouldn't be. No design document as one example is insanity.

Its way too easy to miss encounters, secrets and even legendary equipment in this game. There are hidden places that you need to uncover with perception, shrink/transform yourself, jump, teleport or just fly to them. You need to remember that this game also has verticality to it. And there is A HUGE ammount of secrets in the game. As always love Your videos.

Interesting undead guy; friendly & philosophical... As for answer Gopher give him - sorry, but it's nonsense; you really thing that life of a murderer is as valuable as life his victim? Don't you think that life of poor victim, who never harm anyone is not worth more than life of some senseless killer who kills for profit or for his own amusement? So, I would give answer that your deeds determine how valuable our life is. I guess it's fantasy version of trolley dilemma... You can even say that I even disagree with undead guy and we are no equal in death either - all people die but some are remember far more than the others. So, yes our deeds determine value of our life even outside of context of this game.

In terms of starfield, its really the lackluster worldbuilding that makes all of bethesdas forgivable issues in other games absolutely unforgivable. Writing has been simplistic since oblivion which you can forgive if you can build your own in an interesting world. Starfield just is uninspired and constricts you with a lack of interesting stories to come across. Makes it hard to justify any of the other issues and overshadows any of the wins
