Yeah, this is why I'm more a fan of watching later uploads too. Though even if I was into watching actual streams, I'd still consider it an "experience" and not a "service"; I watch playthroughs because I like the personality and unique touch the streamer/tuber/whatever has. I'm not going to complain unless 1 of 2 things happens: 1. There's some kind of fake out, like they SAY they're going to play something and then they literally don't. Or, 2: They act fake. Like, they don't seem to have a genuine personality at all, and so it changes constantly to satisfy people who pay and feel entitled to order said streamer to "dance, monkey, DANCE" Honestly, I kinda wish he hadn't streamed this and had instead done one of his offline recording LPs. Not really sure why he went with streaming it, as the amount of inventory managements required to play properly (money gets pretty important as the game progresses) is really pretty high. Personally, again, I actually don't mind watching a playthrough with that in it. I like to hear what the person playing has to say about stuff, even when sorting inventory 🤷‍♀️ Maybe I'm just an old fogey, but I don't feel entitled to "demand" anyone do or not do anything in their playthrough of whatever game, even if I'm paying (I could simply... NOT pay next time). It's... weird to complain about what's in a gaming video. Rude, actually, is the word that comes to mind. But that's just my opinion. I get Gopher is trying to be conscientious to his viewers, and good on him... But there is such a thing as too nice and I just really think he sometimes goes overboard 😂 (better than not nice enough, of course. So, whaddya do, y'know? Eh 🤷‍♀️ Just, good to know I'm not alone in this thought process, I guess 😂)

Just a little quality of life tip, if you allow it: you can switch characters during the fights, if they 'stand' next to each other in the turn order, on top of the screen. Like here at 2:11:28 you can see Astarion and Shovel next to each other in that line and both their portraits are bigger than the rest and somewhat intertwined with each other? Its useful when you want to use one character but the other stands in the way. Say you move Shovel away and Astarion gets couple of feets extra movement distance and so on..

"I wanna say I'll do anything I can for you" Says the guy who literally said "No you're NEVER going to DRINK MY BLOOD, are you insane" Lore time. Vampires, are NOT well received in, anywhere. NOBODY likes vampires being around except the REALLY weird crowd. If you found out Nathan from up the road, the nice guy you've known for years, has always been a swell member of the community, was a vampire there'd be a mob with pitchforks and torches converging on his house within the hour. Every even marginally suspicious event, ESPECIALLY random deaths whether vampiric or not, would suddenly be connected to him. So Astarion as a vampire in a VERY new and crazy situation getting caught, feeling bad about it, opening up to you, and then you going "Screw you, never gonna happen, absolutely not, you're mad if you think this is gonna happen" basically means he made himself vulnerable and you came just short of literally stabbing him. Trying to turn around and go "Well I definitely wanna help you for sure" becomes disingenuous. The options you selected were a VERY firm "Absolutely not" which is why you don't suddenly get the option of completely flipping, and is also why Astarion isn't especially cheery. From his perspective he's someone who is sick and all he needs is a small blood donation that costs you nothing, and you not only rejected him but slapped a sense of finality on that rejection. Not to say you can't mend the relationship, this is Baldur's Gate 3, but it's certainly a rough start when you're literally bound together by your shared affliction. It's also not going to be mended over one sliver of his story. Some less depressing lore now! You've acquired a book about the Necromancy of Thay. Thay is featured in the DnD movie that came out somewhat recently, Honour Among Thieves. Which is a great movie btw. Anyway, Thay is a country quite far East of the Sword Coast. It is a Magocratic nation ruled by the Red Wizards, very powerful Necromancers. Necromancy, much like vampires, is generally disliked in most of Faerun, so a nation full of the buggers you can probably guess, has gotten quite good at it. Illyn Toth was apparently a Red Wizard in disguise, snatching up people in this village where he posed as an alchemist to use as experimentation for resurrection magic, having the desire to revive, well.... Someone. Probably important, but VERY dead, making it VERY hard to pull off. In fact, he narrowed down his last option to a True Resurrection spell. This is a 9th level spell available only to Clerics and Druids. It also has a price tag of 25,000 gold pieces in DIAMONDS, so it's pretty damn hard to pull off, even in a well run campaign. This spell is appropriately powerful though, even if the body is entirely destroyed, this spell can form a whole new body during the resurrection, and it can even cure being Undead, fully returning the target to proper life. Naturally it fully regenerates the body, so missing limbs, lingering wounds, of course all restored. For this spell to work, the creature must have died less than 200 years ago, and their soul must be free and willing. This spell as with all resurrection magic fails if the creature died of old age. This Necromancer clearly experimented on quite a lot of people until he realized the ultimate revival spell was his only option. ...... Wait, is this less depressing?

General idea for efficient looting is: Food -> send to camp (he's already doing that) Jewelry -> Add to wares (the actual option for this when right-clicking) Weapons and armor -> they can weigh a bit, but Add to wares anyway, subsequently give to someone strong or send to camp if it's too heavy Most other junk -> ignore If anything is worth less than 15-20 gold it's usually best to not bother with it, you'll only get about half of that when you sell it anyway. Doesn't take too long once you get used to it. There's nothing wrong with frequent visits to a vendor either. You usually need to long-rest pretty frequently in the early levels anyway, and the vendors update their stock whenever you level up and refresh limited items on a long rest. Now I'm just wondering if he'll encounter the final two companions before doing too much? He already walked right past one of them without noticing them, which to be fair is very easy as they don't stand out too much in the area they are. I've heard stories of people who literally didn't encounter them at all because of this.
@haku8135
@haku8135 7 месяцев назад
The correct method is. Just loot all if it's all food and potions and stuff. Junk items are light, so grab them too, cause the money adds up quickly. When you need more inventory space, go into your supply bag and shift click to highlight everything and send to camp. Gems and normal jewelry control click and add to wares. Same with weapons and armor, especially if you're playing a strength build, loot all the things. Have a strength character on hand to be a pack mule, but if you just offload at a vendor frequently, you'll rarely run into problems. You can sell everything, the only thing I ignore is like rotten food. So you walk a little slow to the merchant sometimes, WADDLE WITH PRIDE!
@holysecret2

For weapons and armor I pretty much just used my Skyrim calculation: Anything with a ratio of 1 weight to 10 gold or more I would pick up. Scaling slightly based on my current proximity to any available vendors

On the subject of Starfield. I dropped that one after a few episodes. Not because of Gopher, but the game itself. Seemed too generic and boring to me, also no immersion mechanics or feel at all. Maybe if modded heavily in a few years it would become somewhat playable - but it looks like even mod creators are abandoning the game. Sci-fi isn't rly my genre anyway, although i can like it if it's good. The feeling of being a captain that Gopher mentioned - to me was very nicely achieved way back in Unreal 2, even though it wasn't even an rpg game nor did it have an open world. But the moments you spent in your ship interacting with it and with characters inside it - succeeded in creating that feeling for me even more than Mass Effect. I haven't played SF myself nor do i plan to, but from what i've seen - it rly doesn't look like it is able to pull up the fantasy of traveling a universe full of intrigue and mysteries to discover. The world and NPCs just look super plasticy to me as a set for a bad B-movie.

So on the subject of looting. My simple solution that i used in my game: just dedicate 1 character withing the party that has the highest strength (probably a fighter) and just send all loot that you are intending to sell to them the same way you are sending lockpics to Astarion. Then when trading - switch to that character, sell all garbage and transfer the gold back to your main. Simple as that. And when you find something you don't want to sell or are unsure but also have no use for it at the moment - you can just right-click on it and send it to camp to sort it out after the stream.
@IncapableKakistocrat
@IncapableKakistocrat 8 месяцев назад
The reason Karlach is always mainstay in my party is because she's always carrying all the crap I need to sell. >transfer the gold back to your main I don't do that at all because gold has weight, and by the time you get to act 3 you'll probably have 20-30k, which is 20-30kg. If other people in your party have the gold on them, it gets used automatically (thought you might have to click on 'balance offer' a couple of times - the first time it just takes all the money you have on your character, the second time it'll start taking money from the other characters). It's annoying this only works for when you're paying for something, though, i wish it also did it so you could sell stuff from multiple characters' inventories without it resetting the trade.
@Nyarurin
@Nyarurin 8 месяцев назад
@@IncapableKakistocrat i don't remember gold having weight, nor do i think it was using gold from other characters. Maybe new patches changed something? Either way, this method worked for me pretty well. My main is a cute wizard girl with minimum strength and i love to have a lot of gadgets, potions and scrolls on me, so optimizing my looting routine was very important as i only had on average 5-10 points of weight free for loot.

@@Nyarurin Gold definitely does have weight, one gold is 0.01kg. The weight isn’t something you notice in the early game at all because you have so little, but by Act 3 you’ll *definitely* notice the weight. I’m pretty sure that’s been the case since the start. In my current run I’ve managed to get so much gold that my bard literally can’t hold it all, so the party gold is split across everyone with Karlach having the bulk of it.

I never found the Pleasurable Deal interview! Thanks for that, I read the original book but never knew there was a follow-up - such fun little details strewn about really reward exploration. One gameplay mechanic tip: you don't need the torch in the weapon slot; there's a light source slot that you can then toggle. My opinion: I don't mind watching inventory management - I've even heard some people find it satisfying to watch - admittedly, I won't pay as much attention when it's happening, but it's no big deal. If you cut it, viewers could get confused about your loadout. When it comes to complaints, I'd suggest balancing them against all the people who *didn't* complain about it before changing how you act - reacting to a potential minority is laudable but maybe unnecessary. Like when you cut the intro chatter, while I appreciated it, the majority were disappointed. Then again, maybe that means it's good to test things out... I'll shut up :D

Hey Gopher- this is one of my favorite series! I look forward to it every week. Part of BG3 is inventory management and I don't mind it. These are long videos (like the length of an extended cut of LOTR) and I think a lot of people watching this are doing something else in the background (I paint minis), and not intently watching every second, so I don't think the inventory parts are a big deal. There's also a sort button for everyone's bags at the top, I think you'll get used to sorting and selling things pretty quick.

@Gopher, Tips that seem relevant at the end of the stream: below the party portraits there are two icons; if you mouse over them they will give you the options and keyboard commands for grouping / ungrouping the party & toggling group stealth. On American keyboards those functions are on G and Shift+C respectfully. Also, regarding inventory, you can shift and control click to select multiple items at the same time to drag and drop or use 'send to..." commands. Cheers

I honestly don't mind the inventory management. As somebody else mentioned, it's easy to skip ahead, or I can just open a new tab and surf a bit. I also sometimes have these running while I'm attending to the dishes, cooking or whatnot... and I have to admit, my more sadistic side finds your inventory/loot/encumbrance struggles vaguely amusing. :P That said, however, I'd be amongst the first to concede that BG3, much as I love the game otherwise, does not exactly shine when it comes to inventory. If I recall, the DOS series suffers from similar problems.

Howdy Gopher! In regards to the inventory management complaint of "too many menus, oh lord there's so many, wha wha wha". It's honestly a very, very silly complaint. Anyone who comes and watches a livestream that can't be cut down or edited of a game with lots of inventory management/menus and is somehow expecting high stakes, riveting and constantly engaging/exciting content is a silly little fool, and needs to run down to the corner store and pick up some common sense. I'm not bored by inventory management personally, and I would happily watch you spend half an hour doing just that out of spite, though I'm sure you wouldn't actually do that. I urge you to please just play the game how you want, and what feels right to you as a player when it comes to menus. You only get to play through a game for the first time once so don't let silly people make you feel like it's a bad thing for you to sort your loot. Much love 🤙

I'm only getting frustrated because I get the feeling that Gopher is playing for chat, not for himself. Or at least 50/50. He is getting so distracted by donations and by the pressure of chat watching, he is constantly making references to people being annoyed and not wanting to bore people. I watched ALL of his Witcher 3 series and enjoyed every moment of every episode, and likely so would I have any BG3 Let's Play that he might have done. But the streaming experience feels very different to me, I'm not getting into it. I did enjoy his Minecraft streams, but that's a different kind of game, where comedy and silly situations enhance the experience, I don't think it fits the RPG experience well though.

It's like with a lot of ratings on the internet: 9 out of 10 don't mind and like it. 1 doesn't. 9 stay quiet and watch it with enjoyment, 1 must shout out how aweful it is. The one thing that makes inventory management frustrating here is that Gopher's attention is being split between streaming, chatting and learning the game. If this was a Let's Play, I would be more patient and empathetic with any required learning time. I also think the learning would be faster, and also without feeling beholden to chat it's probably easier to tab out for a couple minutes and google something. For an RPG, I want the game's systems, story and characters to be the sole focus of the stream/video, not myself or other chatters. Whenever the attention is divided like this, I don't feel like I'm getting the RPG experience, and nor do I feel that Gopher himself does. With a stream running you will always be incentivized to make jokes and IRL references and play to an audience, which I don't think fits well with an immersive role-playing experience.

@@GophersVids That doesn't surprise me actually, from all of your previous non-Bethesda series that I watched I gather that you like to let the game do the talking, and experience it at its pace. Starfield: Had a lot of fun. Bunch of stuff I'd rather they'd gone a different direction with but there's rarely a game I can't say that about. Heck, even Red Dead Redemption 2 which is in my top 5 All time Great Games list. I spent all that time as Arthur and I was very disappointed that I couldn't complete many of the challenges as Arthur - The epilog felt a bit like a grind but there were some really enjoyable parts to it. Catching up with the the gang was fun, and hunting down Micha felt pretty good. Starfield, if I get back to it, I won't bother with outposts at all, which means I probably won't bother with scanning planets to 100% and I'll probably spend too much time in the Ship Builder (which is what happened the first time). I would like to move back to companions that I enjoy - there seems to have been an epidemic of annoying companions in games recently (last 20 years)

"We're not long resting until I finish this place. I'm not long resting after one bloody fight." As someone who has, just a sec, 491.2 hours currently in this game and considering you have VERY little damage potential on your team (You REALLY need Lae'Zel and to go back to the bloody Druid Grove and actually explore the damn place) especially with how against even CASTING your damaging spells you seem to be with how many slots you wasted on grease, you need a long rest. Long rests aren't decided by how much time has passed, they're decided by how badly you screw up, and that fight was ATROCIOUS. Grease is a GREAT spell, making your enemies slip is REALLY good literally all the way to the end game. Casting grease to spread FIRE, isn't very good. Water and ice are good, fire is just like kinda sorta annoying. Against Phase Spiders, it's basically useless, they don't walk, they teleport. Your current build is very heavy in support magic, and control, which isn't bad, but you need to follow your control UP with DAMAGE. Astarion is an excellent source of damage, but you are using him horribly, trapping him in a corner with a bunch of bloody fire, not getting sneak attacks off, and not even getting much chance since your grease which would give Astarion chances for sneak attack is on FIRE. You also seem to be really against MOVING. You hunker down in ONE TINY AREA and just spam healing through enemy attacks. That's only BARELY working currently and you're burning healing potions. Not even that much later in the game, that's going to crash and burn HARD and you'll just die. Just like you'll die if you try running around with Shadowheart totally tapped on spells, Gale basically out of spells too (remember he can regain some slots out of combat) and in need of a proper suite of spells, not just MORE control spells with just magic missile for damage. Again, magic missile, good spell, but only in certain situations. You've just wasted so many spells, you're like 4 episodes ahead of me so I can say this, stubbornly running ahead with most of your resources drained is how giant phase spider queens eat you for dinner. Also, Vicious Mockery is better than your crossbow. The crossbow can deal a BIT more damage, sometimes, but Vicious Mockery imposes disadvantage on that enemy's next attack, making it less likely to hit. So it's like you're dealing damage AND shielding an ally with one action. That's big money.

However watching him play NG+ more than once is an auto skip for me unless it's a montage. We don't get enough of his theatrically edited content. Watching Gopher have more fun with Starfield then I did is actually fun. Watching Gopher go through the same quests over and over again as the same character sounds tedious. Not as tedious as playing it myself (stopped at NG+ 3) but still that's to much even for me.

@@Legacyartist I didn't mean watch him play through the same quests in NG+, I mean watch him specifically play new and only new content with his NG+ character, rather than a whole new character playing the whole game.

The problem with people's expectation for Starfield is that they either wanted it to be a space sim. Or, they were expecting every single square inch on every single planet to be handcrafted and unique like skyrims map, which is physically impossible. People came in with the wrong expectations or impossible expectations and were disappointed when what they wanted was not possible to meet. At its core, starfield is a good game it's not amazing, but it's pretty good.

Expecting a good space game is not unrealistic or impossible to meet, its the bare minimum.

@@Nighttemplar559 I think the original poster was specifically talking about space 'sims', which are a more specific genre. Think "Elite Dangerous" or "No Mans Sky". I think he is suggesting more people were expecting THAT sort of game, and of course it wasn't. It is a space game, but it really was not something most consider a space sim.

I think the real issue is that for a scifi game there is almost 0 science and very uninteresting politics. I think using their own ip was the real mistake here. If there took some novel or series like ringworld, foundation they wouldn't have to rely on devs who are experts as being devs to do the worldbuilding or add the science part of the sci-fi. It just seems like there was no ambition put into the worldbuilding and at its core bethesda is about letting you interact with an interesting world the way you want to.

@@shetlandapache949 Exactly, I think of it as a Game of Thrones situation, when they had books to adapt it was great, as soon as they ran out of books the show immediately started to plunge in quality. Bethesda was lucky to have had already established IP''s to work with, and as soon as they create their own, their lack of ambition and vision immediately became apparent.
