So when I knocked her out I thought she was dead and I looted her of all items. The last hit was a butt of a great sword and apparently that always knocks them out even if Non-Lethal is turned off. So when I discovered her in Moonrise in front of the boss, she was buck naked which was hilarious
One of the funniest spoilers I’ve read, because I did just that and haven’t made it to Moonrise yet. If she weren’t so horribly toxic and rotten inside I would probably feel bad for her. But her panties look good on me…
to be frank, i feel like it's kinda on theme in a weird way. like they were so disappointed in her complete and total failure with the grove that they didn't even afford her a cloth to cover herself
I looted her stuff when she was knocked out too, and was wearing all of her stuff. In moonrise she just had her camp clothes on, so I guess they fixed that. So now I have two sets of her camp clothes and underwear. But when I went to level her up, before giving her anything else, on the screen she was just a floating head and hands. Her body was invisible lol
This video released exactly as I was busy taking out war drums and knocking out Minthara at the Goblin Camp! Glad to hear there's more ways to do it now.
Summary from someone with 650 hours on bg3 with multiple runs successfully recruiting minthara(good and evil runs) •eliminate princess gut in her private quarters (to avoid her calling reinforcements) •break the war drum next to minthara to cause “temporary hostile” stat •last attack on minthara must be melee without spells. •some say to keep her underwear on as it caused them bugs, but I have not noticed •defeat dror ragzlin as usual •notify halsin This is what I usually do, and I have not encountered minthara moonrise bugs for 3 non-evil runs. The only time I encounter problems is if priestess gut was eliminated after knocking out minthara. If halsin is also in your camp, he won’t be bugged. But he will share a camp spot with minthara in act 2. Also idk if this is related but I usually progress act 1 in this order. Grove, goblin camp, Ethel, saving florrick and defeating “paladins of tyr”, celebrate with tieflings, under dark and mountain pass.
Question - have you tried this method since patch 6? I’ve been getting the bug where the game won’t check off the leaders even if they are dead if you knock out Minthara. I’m trying to find out a way around it and I’m about to give up. I’ll try your order and do it without long resting and fingers crossed!
@@mandydinibefore patch 6 my game would hard crash at moonrise every single time. That save wasn’t playable anymore I took a break from BG lol. Hopefully this time that doesn’t happen.
After patch six it’s even easier to recruit her, just agree to her plan to raid the Grove and non-lethal KO her there, that’s all there is to it. There were so many things that could go wrong back at the camp, the Grove is a better option especially for those who are having problems
@@hadriusreznor3247 calling him coward is wild haha. Hes the one asking you if you want him to fight with you inside to Goblin camp. Youre the one telling him yes or no. If yes everyone is hostile inside the Camp, if you tell him no hes going home and you can talk with Minthara afterwards.
I'm playing with a buddy of mine who wants to stay non-spoiled, and I kind of hate that the only ways to get Minthara and Halsin on a good playthrough require meta knowledge/cheesing. I wish there was a more organic way to do it without workarounds :/
@@DaveVersteeg you've grasped the basics of alignment, congrats. Was there a reason you thought you needed to explain that to me on a two months old comment?
@@Inkcharm i just got this post yesterday, that is how RU-vid works, maybe you don't know. You say you "i hate" getting a mass murdering psychopath in a good party takes a workaround or cheesing. When you play a "good" party you kill that drow were she stands. I just wanted to have a talk about this great game. I "hate" your passive aggressive replay...so FU.
Legend , Thankyou. I went through with killing the teiflings with her to see how it turned out, 3 big battles and you end up back in camp celebrating with minthara, she seems like she wants to get kinky but then betrays you in camp. I was gutted that I missed knocking her out in the castle but this video saved the day, Thankyou. Do not betray the tieflings cause minthara will want to drink your blood back in camp anyway. And I hate the way the goblins chase around scratch when in camp it annoyed the crap outta me so I picked the one up chasing scratch and threw it into the water
Man, I had just passed this part and was in act II my first playthrough when this patch dropped. Tried to knock Minthara out at the emerald grove betrayal to attempt recruiting her later just to find out she wasnt at moonrise when i got there. If i had waited a couple days maybe i could have recruited her. I suppose I'll just have to play through again, what a shame 🙂
I am currently on Honor Mode, so i cannot test things without save files. and i have some question. I want to kill Priestess Gut in her room first, give location to Minthara, and kill all goblins in the main hall, and finally kill Dror Rargzlin for the loot and mind flayer worm. Next i teleport to the grove and full rest and finally fight Minthara, do you think it will work?
I'm doing this in durge honor mode and that siege got me really nervous. It's my first time playing durge and honor mode. But I did it! No tiefling died. Thank you for this!
Nice video, well presented, thank you. Just as an aside, I met with Minthara at the initial point in the Goblin camp (defiled temple) and attacked her and the goblins after NOT agreeing to help. I concentrated on knocking her out non-lethally there, instead of bothering with the attack on the grove, and she still appeared in Act 2 in Moonrise Towers. She was recruited after saving her from the dungeon.
Thanks for watching! Yea sounds like you might have done the other method. Another video I have last year was the method similar to what you described.
Yes, act of faith that she turns up in Act 2 after the initial knock out. I've done it twice. Once she was there on the floor after the battle, I looted her and that was that until Act 2. The second time, oddly, she simply disappeared! Her body was not to be found anywhere. So I thought it a glitch, however, strangely the loot was in my inventory. Nonetheless, there she was in Act 2 getting roasted by Kethrick. @@thepeoplesjewels
Just to be safe: always defeat Priestess Gut first! I know this is a different method than taking all the leaders in the goblin camp, but this game has a risk of bugging out when the order of events is done out of order. It’s okay if you pick up items before the quest asks you to, but every problem I’ve run into had to deal with me going/speaking/doing something before I was told by an npc
what about Dror Ragzlin? I tried this guide step by step but left Dror Ragzlin alive and knocked out Minthara outside the Emerald Grove but she didn't show up and Moonrise.. Any advice?
Keep in mind that even after all game updates until now you are still not supposed to recruit both Minthara AND Halsin at once (they use the same camp spot). However the game devs after feedback have added dialogue, fixes, and methods for Minthara to make it easier to recruit her without bugs while also saving the tieflings AND Halsin (you had to let both die before released game updates).
@@guguyaoyou can recruit both, but their camp situation isn’t fixed😂 sometimes it’s hard to select the right companion because they fuse into one. In my experience it’s only once you reach late Act 3, Baldur’s Gate camp(specifically outdoors) where they don’t share one spot. Minthara dialogue is still not polished enough though, but there are some improvements in each patch
@@josephsmith886 No. In the room before you go into the Warg Pens to free Halsin there’s a ladder along the wall. If you climb it you’ll be on the wall above where Minthara is and you can just climb down the ladder on that side. Saves you time running out and around through the main chamber.
@@PitFriend1 sorry...misread. yeah, I found her just fine at the goblin camp. Lead her to the Grove after saving Halsin and turned in her but knocked her out. Her body was gone after a long rest but when I finally made it to moonrise, she wasn't pleading for her life. Instead it was just the goblins.
In my slightly evil run I used the opportunity to try out Minthara. She had some great, compelling, really well acted scenes where I was truly moved, but then, most of the time, she's just kinda evil, take over the world style. I guess it's kinda hypocrite to cry for mercy when you wouldn't do the same for no one else. I wanted her to change but she's not that sort of character. I wish she could be just toned down a bit. Like, stay ruthless but show some amount of heart from time to time. Like the kind I gave you.
Phew. I had tried this in Patch 1 and it obviously didn't work. Minthara would essentially die and her body would simply disappear. So glad they fixed this! Thanks for the video.
You can kill every goblin in that camp except Sazza. It doesn't matter. Sazza needs to be alive if you want an achievement only though. Otherwise you can kill her too. It has no bearing on recruiting Minthara. You can knock Minthara out at any point in the game and still recruit her. However, if you want to compete a quest for more experience points then knocking her out during the siege of the grove is best for the goal of maximizing the experience pointsl. For me, I initially talked to Minthara in the camp. Told her I was going to help. She then leaves and I let her. Once gone, I dispatch every goblin in the camp and town. Doing so has no bearing on the outcome of the siege. After a long rest, I head to the grove and start the Siege. I side against her as this video shows. I have far more barrels placed though so I can 1 shot everything but the group containing Minthara in the back. Then I just clean up the extras and knock Minthara out. Can even loot her if you want to here no problem. Play through normally until the Moonrise towers then follow what this video shows. It really is much simpler now and more rewarding experience point wise.
I wish she had a full different reaction and even question why you help her in this case. It is somewhat fitting her character to not snitch on you, as ketheric is done with her anyways and you are probably her best bet, but her behavior needs a fine tuning still. Honestly I don’t think she should live without metagaming, but it is fine in a second or third playthrough
I guess that the way I have been doing it hasn't been good enough. I have just been releasing the goblin in the grove through the secret entrance to gain some trust, speak with Gut to get her to talk in private, talk with the Rag, release the Bear, keep him with me and then knocking Mithy out in the Goblin Camp with non-lethal attacks. Surprisingly enough, you can actually divide and conquer the rest fairly easily from here. If you are a Drow, you can resist being up to sleep by Gut but you have to fight her one on one, and if you can pass some difficult checks you don't get exposed by the dead mind flair. So it is then easy to use speak with animals to convince the spiders that you are their god and have them attack the goblins, taking care of most of them if you manage to keep them alive. Sadly I have not made it to act 2 yet to see the results of these actions because life keeps me busy and by the time I get back to it, the mods I have been using need to be readjusted.😅😢
Hey, can you please update an info about Minthara when you reach Moonrise please. Knocked her out in Goblin Camp too while fighting with whole camp. I hope she will appear for me in act2...
@@whereisboris depends on the condition of the fight. She had to have the "temporarily hostile" status (its a buff) when she was knocked out. This is the status NPCs get when you destroy something, steal something or get caught pickpocketing someone. However, when a goblin plays the drums it removes the "temporarily hostile" buff, alerts the whole camp and turns all NPCs fully hostile. Knocking someone out in this state used to be counted as a kill even if you knocked them out, but maybe thats changed. If you want Minithara you might want to reload but Id do some more reading, maybe its easier now.
@@onesolopolo4194 I’m too far already. But in this video minthara have shown up even after a siege of goblin camp, so I hope she’ll be there in my case too
I feel they need to change her initial interactions through this method. It doesn’t make sense that you’re the reason she fails you show up and yet she doesn’t call you out. She doesn’t have any real extra reaction at all and then even when you free her she doesn’t confront you about it. It’s really stupid and I think the other message makes sense partially but this one doesn’t really make any at all at least the weights executed it could make sense but it needs some extra narrative points. Also, the first way made no sense either if she recognizes that you’re the one that knocked her out, it should rely on disguise, or some other form of knocking her out without being recognized I’m fine with her joining you on a good run. In fact, I think it makes more sense than her joining you on an evil run given her motivation has nothing to really even do with you. It just has to do with getting revenge on the absolute for betraying her . But it also makes no sense for her to join you if you’re the one that betrays her in the first place and she knows it was you, so I feel like you should be able to knock her out and recruit her not to even on a good run, but it should be stipulated not on her being temporary Lee, hostile or whatever this quest line is, it should be based on you to feeding her and knocking her out in someway while disguised or invisible, or some other way unrecognizable
@@theomnidegenerate5236 They could make it that she does recognize you but realizes that telling Kethoric that you're the one wouldn't help her either. Since Kethoric was going to have her killed regardless because of her failure to retrieve the weapon.
They did say in patch note that they fixed some of her dialogues so that she doesn't give spoilers all the time. But there might be still some untouched.
@@nixzxin well, the problem persist for now, I recruited her yesterday (with the “traditional” method) and she started to talk about the Emperor, later I killed Isobel (Dark Urge run) and her reaction was talking about the Emperor again, it’s a funny bug.
@@bergmn_ same, got "spoiler" about emperor even before this reveal happened in game. Now she is always talking about "Gale should not explode himself as he was told"
It's such a turnoff she throws people under the bus and fears death. For a harden warrior like Minthara, it's unbecoming for her to beg for mercy. Now I have no choice but to romance default Shadowheart.
I hope they fixed the jumping AI bug, sometimes the party AI shits it self and the companions wont jump on their own getting stuck, even quicksave/quickload does not fix this, and the only way to fix it is by manually selecting the character to make them jump. That damn bug had always annoyed me. I just hope when the Definitive Edition comes out they squish that bug.
so basically: i got exiled by my people becauce i failed, because YOU betrayed me... and now you are standing here and asking me, if i want to join your party? ok, lead the way, i love you...
You actually don’t have to go to war haha. You can just knock her out in the goblin camp after triggering aggro mode on her (steal her candle in front of her)
It's a shame they don't have it that if you give her wrong directions that you find her locked up in Moonrise and can persuade her to join you that way.
Is it possible to have both Halsin and Minthara and you camp at the same time? Are we limited to one or the other? Asking because that would be both an interesting twist and make for some fabulous conversations.
Maybe I'm missing something or I'm just thinking too hard, but does anyone else find it strange that Minthara doesnt immediately out you as the one response for her failed raid of the Grove?
So, doesn't saving Halsin bug this out? My friends and I are trying to do this run, but everywhere we see online, people say that having both Minthara and Halsin in camp at the same time bugs her out, as they share the same space at the same tent. And saving Halsin automatically has him join your camp at the end of Act 1... We even tried not interacting with him whatsoever, knocking Minthara out at the goblin camp, and killing the other 2 leaders, but he still ends up joining your camp if you long rest at any point in the Act 1 area after defeating the goblins. Is there a way to remove Halsin from camp (without killing him)? Can you refuse his offer to join your camp permanently after the curse questline? Because you cannot refuse him joining you leading up to Act 2. We tried, there isn't an option.
Im on Patch 6 Hotfix 20. If you send a conjured creature into Moonrise to check if Minthara is there it wont work, she wont be there and it will look like the whole recruitment process was a failure. I tried this because I was doing a BEELINE to check if Minthara was alive at Moonrise after the Goblin Camp business.... I believe there must be some cutscene (perhaps the guards out front of Moonrise?) that is required in order to relocate Minthara to Moonrise standing before Ketheric. And until that cutscene takes place perhaps Minthara is stored safely in some inaccessible location in the game world after being knocked out? I should mention that I employed the older method of stealing in plain sight, turning Minthara temporarily hostile, knocking her out in the Goblin Camp before completing that whole mission and saving Halsin.
Your essentially baiting Minthara into a severe tactical disadvantage, I felt sorry for her , how Ketheric expected her to acomplish anything with Goblins is beyond me, they are about has threatening has gangsta grunts from Halo
@@charlesboots6508 someone in the cult didn't like her, and set her up for failure, my money is on Zrell , no other absolute leader had to use goblins, look what Marcus had, and he was a recent convert
A shame that this doesn't work with the hunter in the swamp that hunts astarion. If you knock him out he is still considered dead and won't appear in the hunter camp in act 3.
I accidentally killed Minthara because I didn't know finishing enemies with arrows is always lethal, even if you have non-lethal turned on. My head cannon is that Astarion was always well aware.
Still has a TON of bugs. I have successfully recruited her exactly once. Knocked her out at the Goblin city then in Act 2, I telekinesis her from in front of the throne back to the doors. One time only she stayed non aggressive. All the other times she went red. It wasnt giving me the dialogue when they take her below. Some kind of glitch. Last time I made it all the way through the Moonrise tower, knocked her out again, she goes green. Healed her to full. She stays knocked out. Inet searches say give it minutes sometimes hours and a knocked out person wakes up. Not the case. Let it run overnight and she was still knocked out in the am. Tried healing tossing potions, threw water on her. Cant help her so it stays bugged. . I can try this betrayal way but every time in the past that I have knocked her out it didnt go well when I got to moonrise.
I followed all these steps, got to Moonrise Towers and there was no Minthara. Just checked my save games and I did the Druid Grove battle two days before Patch 6 released. 😒 Guess I'll have to do another palythrough. Still, thanks for confirming that what I did is the correct way to do this.
Finally they made it official, using the exploit to get her did not sit well with me, now they need to add a few voice lines referencing your betrayal. As her suddenly forgetting about it, would not make much scene especially since she is Oath of Vengeance Paladin and would not let your betrayal go unanswered. THEY "ABSOLUTELY" MUST ADD NEW VOICE LINES. Also you have to roll a D20 to persuade her to join otherwise she turns on you!
You can trigger non-lethal damage while she's still at the goblin camp without all of this fuss. Talk to her, make her sure that you'll raid the druid's grove, and after the conversation take down the scrying eye or the war drum in her room (you may as well attack her or any of the goblins in her room, but this will alarm the other goblins in the camp quicker - scrying eye and the war drum used by enemies in there will alert the other goblins). This will trigger the "temporary hostile" buff on her, which is the only circumstition under which you can meet her later at Moonrise after patch 5. Just make sure you use melee attack on her to put her down to 0HP, not ranged nor magic. Also, you need to kill the two other goblin leaders before taking on Minthara or at least deal with all of them within one long rest - Priestess Gut can be killed sneakily in her room, although I'm not sure about the Dror Razglin. I know that after knocking out Minthara and dealing with the other leaders you'll need to leave the goblin camp and never return until the start of act 2 (she'll remain here unconscious upon reaching the Moonrise)
Thats great. I hated having to follow a very particular obtuse protocol to recruit her. Keeping her alive under ANY circumstances should lead to her being punished in Moonrise towers which is our chance to save her.
Minthara was not inside moonrise tower, she was outside on the road under the bridge area. Now I can't seem to find her! I can't see anyone else with this or the cutscene that she did.
@@02091992ablegoing in blind that’s def true, but being able to setup barrelmancy nonsense through this method makes it a lot more manageable and it’s just a neat way to see things play out differently
It's easier, but this is better. You can actually play the battle at the grove and still recruit her. Missing it, is like giving up on a crucial part of the game.
@@alessandrogarofalo9951 The thing is that with the method of doing it in the grove you do not have to worry about long resting causing a quest to glitch. But I usually play on balanced so I can dabble a little in multi classing and it is pretty difficult to deal with her then the other 2 leaders without long resting. Worst one is her and Razgolin. She usually uses hold person on one of your group which since she is a paladin allows her to critical smite the target. Razgolin is the weapon he uses that makes him hit like a truck. But if you pull off the poisoning outside on the goblins that fight is much easier since it cuts the numbers you have to fight by at least half. I like to kill them all just leaving Minthara knocked out on the floor. Cause I like to use the temple route to go to the Underdark, but I also unlock the way from the Zenterium hideout as well.
@@02091992able I see your point, but I mean, goblin camp is full of explosives. Just go there, make Minthara leave. Deal with priestess gut, then go to save halsin and fight Ragzlin. Put one character in the platform above the arena, then use a character to place the explosives. Shoot a fire arrow or a firebolt and boom! No more Dror Ragzlin. Go back to the grove and fight minthara with the high ground.
What happens to Priestess Gut and Dror Ragzlin if you betray Minthara at the gate? Are they still at the Goblin Camp to fight? Do they show up later in Act 2?
Gut and Ragzlin are still at the camp- Although all goblins are now temporarily hostile towards you. Not too sure about them showing up in Act 2 if you don't kill them in Act 1 (killed Gut before betraying Minthara, killed Ragzlin after betraying Minthara).
When I visit MoonRise Tower she is still knock out, the cutscene run normally but the quest to freed her is stuck since she is still knocked out in ground not went to dungeon😅
I've recuited minthara in an evil run, but now she's stuck at the camp! Once i try to get her out the butto is blurry and if i try to teleport into act 1 the game says that one companion is not ready to travel... Someone knows how to solve this? (i've already tried to silence her and the tp, but nothing happened)
May I ask? what's level of your character? why they have that much hp?, in my run when I get into the goblins camp my party level is around 4-5 and never get hp more than 50
She's still not at Moon towers for me. Wtf! I did the same thing as the video too, but my save was before the update patch 6. I was close to the moon towers hopping the patch would fix her being at the moon towers when I first enter the place. She still isn't there...
Thank you for this video, but i have a question,. What happens to the kill the 3 leaders mission does it just become null and void or can we still go back and kill the other 2 for their loot?
Yea, I think they will be gone from the Camp. If you still want to kill them, there was another method I have on my channel where you indeed kill them and not doing the siege battle.
Did the order of defeating the leader matters? I tried to knock her out first (temp hostile), kill gut second and ragzlin last with the drums destroyed first. After the long rest the knocked out minthara just wasnt there and halsin/zevlor quest is not progressed (cant quicktravel with halsin but still managed to get out by the side entrance of the camp), I bring halsin to grove but no one notice him as theres no cutscene of him angry to the druid 😂
i actually went through the nightsong quest first and came back to the grove a couple of times where i left her there unconcious during the grove attack, which she then aggro me. I guess no way to recruit her now.
It's an extension of what was already in the game from a patch in December. Normally you have to go to the Goblin camp, find her and commit a criminal act with her witnessing it to goad her into combat. Doing this by Theft, vandalism or assault. But not by attacking her directly. Putting her into temporary hostile stance. Then you would have to use non-lethal melee attacks or unarmed until she is rendered unconscious. But the kicker comes after that point as you have to then kill the other 2 leaders without long resting. As doing so would wake her up and cause the quest to bug out. Cause the quest conditions check for her is either dead or knocked out. You would have to turn in the quest and long rest after, usually at the party the Tieflings have at your camp. This method could be easier, but I think in ways it can be harder because you have to save the Tieflings from being killed by the goblins and the two spiders that also are in the battle.
Yes both method still works and you can recruit both. Can’t say which is better. It’s more of a personal choice. I like the one I showed in the other video as that’s a pure good method. But method in this video is much easier to achieve.
