this is how i played my sorcerer tav too, it's the best gale romance i feel like. gotta knock him down a few pegs or he'll fall victim to his own hubris. it's almost like someone forgot karsus's folly🙄i put the "magus, be warned" scroll in his inventory and made him carry it around to keep him humble.
fr he was the party member orin kidnapped and my earth elemental accidentally smushed him to death during the fight and i didn’t bother reloading…he got what he wanted i thought he’s finally dead lol
I don’t get this joke. He doesn’t at all ever do this aside from at the Circus. If you romance him in Act 2 and be an asshole after he says he’s feeling fragile and insinuates that but he then apologises immediately. That’s about the only times he does it… and neither are actually serious. Like did anyone play the game or?
I heard that when his voice actor did that line like that, it was unexpected and got a huge laugh from everyone. He said it's his favorite line in game.
For some reason I find it very funny that Astarion HATES it when he's sent up to the Clown but loves when you do it to someone else. What a lovable piece of work
@@foxhoundslug not an adlib, it was in the script, but Tim Downey said he made up the delivery because there were no notes about how to say the line. After that his directors told him they hope they can keep that line delivery in even though it's unconventional because they thought it was hilarious
After reading comments like this, I assumed that the person doing the licking would be doing so directly, and not tearing off a piece and licking that instead.

Man wish I knew I could get Karlach sooner I got her late durring act 1. Without really thinking about it. This was before I understood how the "Approval" system really worked So I totally missed out on her romance option... sucks she's hands down one my favorite characters!

Considering how this was his first relationship after being groomed for years and he put so much thought and soul into it, I can understand why that comment would shatter him. Especially considering he would never actually blow up unless Tav literally asked him to.

@@grymmoire There's no point in the game where Gale blows himself up because he's mad at Tav. If you push him, ignore his condition, or commit too many evil acts, he simply leaves and dies in a hole somewhere, even though he absolutely could've taken Tav out with him. I'll never understand why people whine about Gale so much, but make every excuse for Astarion, who literally laughs if you let children suffer or claps when he sees gnomes enslaved. If you do a run where you only seek Astarion's approval, it'll lead you to doing some of the most fcked up things in the game. On top of that, I've seen mountains of comments of people making excuses for his ascension, to the point that they actually argue he still loves Tav (even though if you read his mind the game literally says otherwise), but they call Gale arrogant for ascending and trying to become a god that cares for the common man. Wild.
Reminds me of when he tried to show me how to do magic. First time I played as a ranger which I believe ia a half caster class, so they can do some magic but get half the spell slots and whatever. So it was fine. Second time, I played as a bard, which is a full caster class, just like cleric and wizard. I'm not sure if there were checks but easy, or with advantage etc., but I kept choosing the [Bard] options and managed to do the trick easily. I then said "I could've done it myself you know" and he was like "oh you're hard to please huh?" 😂

@alyssaolson7964 in the blighted village in act 1, I think it was the apothecary building(cant remember exactly), and there's a basement with a lever that takes you to a hidden basement area, it'll take you there.

If your romancing him he will make a comment about his love making. You can reply with "It was fine" and He goes off on a rant about "Fine" and threatens to blow himself up.
@@givebackmybreadstickshonestly? I can understand him on that front fr. I felt like he was genuinely paranoid about his orb and worried it could blow up if he isn’t in control of his emotions.. I actually kind of relate to that, having uncontrollable emotions and feeling like the slightest inconvenience will ruin you.
I find it extra hilarious for some reason that there's always Astarion behind you while you taking a piss out of Gale 😂 bet he loves every second of it 😂 one other fave moment is when he's tryin to flirt and you ask him if he's talking about his cat 😂😂😂
When he backtracks out of insulting Tav and their hygiene by admitting he likes the smell of their sweat then tries to end the conversation with an intense awkwardness
am i the only one who laughs at gale because whenever he's like 'im gonna explode' it feels so much like a pregnant woman being like 'this is bad for the baby!!' except instead of hurting the baby uh. an entire country explodes or something
@@KimbersismSamexhere. Was like, ‘okay I only know of Astarion rn, I’m assuming I’ll have no choice but to go with him. Then Gale came and his story was so… beautiful? It was such a gorgeous storyline that really hit home. And he reflects humanity and it’s flaws in such a good way.
I haven't had the pleasure of playing with Gale yet because he ragequit my party on my first run and then I chewed off his hand on my second. But he seems hilarious. I like that little detail of seeing Astarion react to his speech about things that are "fine."
There's something about messing with someone who cares a little too much about your opinion of them. It's why people go after toxic partners, because even if they don't care about you, they care about what you think of them. It's better that than just indifference to what you have to say. Cat and mouse is better than cat and rock.
Cat and mouse is better than cat and rock... pinning that. Very insightful... Gale is overeager and reeks of desperation and I think that's why so many of us clown on him so easily. But on the other hand, he is dedicated and would bend over backwards to prove himself to his friends and lover. He surely doesn't deserve any of this, but thankfully he is just a sexy cartoon character.
Gods if only we had a party of 5 instead of 4... I love my team of Tav/Shadowheart/Gale/Astarion but I'd love to have Karlach in my party for at least one playthrough so I can truly see why everyone loves her so much, but I can't bear to part with any of my favourite team.
@@Kimbersism My real life d&d game is 4 players (so 5 people including DM) so a party of 4 is very natural to me but this game has way too many incredible characters to be so limited. 😭
This is my favorite party setup too (my Tav is a druid), but I swap Gale with Laezel sometimes. I think my game might be bugged or something, because anytime I had Karlach in my party, she was totally silent. Bummed me out. But I do have a much bigger appreciation for Laezel now, having gotten to know her better!

The first conversation is really weird if you take into account the fact that it's entirely possible for the PC to not only also be a wizard, but also several centuries older than Gale 😅
I played a Mephistopheles Tiefling Sorcerer in one of my playthroughs, and he gets very salty if you choose options like "uh-huh, I can do that ~without~ having had to study for years." He's so bitchy; I love him.
In the Gale camp cause he'll love you even if you go the mind flayer route at the end. He legit would love you if you were a worm. 😫😭 (There’s a myriad of other reasons, but that's definitely one of them that just makes me melt.)
Playing as a sorcerer leads to so much butting heads with him, it’s a nice rivalry that becomes a wonderful friendship or relationship. I was gonna be nice bc I heard the Sorcerer lines can be pretty condescending but my guys first camp interaction was being dismissive of me because I wasn’t “learned” in magic so he started it lol
Picked a wizard, didn't really think much about the fact we already will have a wizard in the camp. Then he proceeded to shame me at every turn . This is why Astarion is more likeable, Gale. At least he makes fun of all of us equally or almost equally
yah i chose a sorcerer and i totally would’ve romanced gale over astarion if gale didn’t talk down to me abt magic and the weave as soon as i met him 😭😭

@@elenalizabethI played a sorcerer in my first play through, and other than the circle interaction in Act 2, he does actually stop making comments when you romance him. He actually stops making comments in general eventually from what I’ve seen, I think he just feels the need to prove himself ‘useful’ in the very beginning, so he acts overconfident to achieve that. Though his behaviour can worsen depending on your choices with him. To be fair, the man is very insecure after what happened with Mystra…it’s not an excuse, but it does explain his behaviour. In my opinion, his romance is actually one of the best I’ve seen in the game as a hopeless romantic 😅

I love his reaction when you fail the Constitution saving throw for licking the spider. I kept redoing it but sadly I only managed to get that reaction twice because my entire party's Constitution was too high to fail more.
When I licked the spider the first time I had karlach fully romanced and she said to my male character “do I smell BEEF?!!” it was definitely a “pause cause I’m laughing my ass off” type of moment
I played through a few times before doing it, and even still sometimes I don't catch what was said... BUT I had to, I kept reading instead of staring at everyone's dreamy faces
