I will never forget experiencing this scene for the first time. I don't remember the last time a video game made me feel so emotional and with constant goosebumps.
I released nightsong on my first playthrough. I had chills on this part. It was so epic. Went on my second play and was willing to kill her just for a different outcome. I just can’t. This scene is too good to skip it so I decided to just RU-vid the “evil” outcome instead 😂❤
I don't know why everybody thinks that Shadowheart needs fixing. I killed the angel and got my self with best loot for her and a small army. SPOILERS, READ ON UR OWN ACCCORD: After reaching the house of Grief, if you select the right things, she convinces many members of the house that she must be the leader instead of the other one. Plus, she has oneo or two leggendary items.
There’s never “fixing” anyone But when I remained completely silent and 100% let Shadowheart have her moment and she STILL discarded the Spear I was so happy.
@@AnghelVick Good Shadowheart gets 2 legendary items as well, plus you get Aylin and Isobel's help which definitely counts for more than a small army at the last battle fight. Not that any of that matters anyway, the point is that Shadowheart is being lied to and manipulated by Shar, that is what the "fixing" is about.
@@jjnull8108 Everything depends on the perspective. At this point, in the game, every deity, phenomenal creature and anyone will try to manipulate your character and your companion in doing something that YOU (the player) do not agree with. Grab your popcorn, because this is going to take a while: So the IRL perspective is natural for us to believe that what Shar is doing is wrong, and yes manipulating in real life is a wrongful thing to do. But in the perspective of DND world, this kind of behavior is natural to them. You think that other deities would not manipulate in doing something? Selune is not far from that either, which in DND perspective is against Shar (but again IRL perspective can be a toll on it). As a personal opinion: people place too much IRL thinking in this game and should play it with an open mind to it and accept or take it how it is. It is after all DND game, not IRL game.
Absolutely Love that Song. Seeing the cutscene with nightsong First time makes me Smile suddenly with tears in my eyes. :o Im Not Finish yet with the Run, but this Scene will stay one of my favorits for Sure.
I stil get goosebumps just from the song along And yeah the Cutscreen are freeking AMAZING! in General BG3 is an amazing game (And I am speaking as someone whom generally HATE turnbased games) You can really feel how BG3 is a labor of love from the developers.
Also GM trick for whomever it can interest, "The Power" (choir version) AKA Umberlie's song transition so very perfectly into "Nightsong" that it's probably written like that 😉
It WAS written as a High Action part for the Power, but later Borislav separated them I think. Destiny 2 also has several tracks that seemingly fit into each other.
@@heramaaroricon4738 Make sense. The nightsong stuff apparently had some late in development rewrites so it makes sense that they would have repurposed an existing piece for it rather than creating a new one.
@@MistyKathrine If that's a result of an accidental change then it's one of the most lucky random shots ever. I always thought they made a genius choice to make "the power" and it's variations the "main" theme of the game, and it's spot on. One of the most important, and yet lately so much neglected parts of world and IP building is to have a recurring and consistant musical theme.
@@godryk2000 Yeah, I'm actually surprised leitmotifs aren't more common. I remember how Final Fantasy VI has leitmotifs of Tina's theme everywhere. It always works well in games when done right.
Just got the scene yesterday and came lookin for the music. Felt even better because I didnt want to intrude on shadowhearts decision but deep down I was hoping she makes the right one. And she did! I wss hella hyped. Virtual love prevails over darkness and pain.
When I first saw this scene my jaw dropped! That's when my Tav Paladin of Devotion knew that she had to convert into the Selûnite faith. Thus, a Paladin of Selûne was born, all thanks to Dame Aylin, the Nightsong.
I went completely blind. My knowledge of the lore is limited enough that I had NO clue who Shar was. Even up until the very moment i saw Aylin I was like "Dark doesn´t mean evil...right?...shadow is a primordial force and she could just be edgy and not totally evil...right?". Then Aylin´s cutscene with the (very incompetent) necromancer plays and I go full "Hoe don´t do it". So yeah, her propaganda worked on ME lmao.
Shar is evil, but being good or evil in DnD is simply a moral standpoint about how much you care about others in general. You can be evil but have a favorite person that you'd burn the world to save. Shar is evil by necessity, because she is willing to destroy the whole existence and all lives in order to find peace in the quiet primordial void. She sees life as the source of conflicts and suffering, light as a disturbance and mortals as sorry pawns selfishly used by gods. But she doesn't care about mortals herself, she only promises the peace of nothingness. On the other side, she is nor Lawful or Chaotic, meaning she doesn't act to impose he law or entertain herself. Crualty and violence are tools to her end, and this end is to bring back the primordial void. As a godess, and on the grand scale of things, you could argue that she has a point, but as a mortal, it's not in your direct interest to serve her since her victory would mean the end of everything you ever liked and cared for. To mortals, she appears as petty, selfish and jealous because we are to her mere insects who should be thankful that she takes interest in us. She does not value mortals. In the end, only the nihilists follow shar, the desperates who would think abuse is a mark of love because they don't know what love truly is.
@@raphaelregnault6914Yeah like Ketheric for example. Bro was an immortal chosen of a death God, but at the end of the day it was all just to bring his daughter back to him, and over time the obsession and tragedy rotted his mind away. Bro really just needed a hug.
Me too, tears were pouring down my face when I heard this soundtrack play as I watched Aylin reveal her divine winged form before my very eyes after I got Shadowheart to cast away the spear.
I bestow upon you the Crown of Necessity, for you have a new lineage now, that of greatness, regality, and of course necessity. You may have posted this video as a fan of the music, or whatever reason you may have, but like Bardic Inspiration from the netherrealm, you have given me the creative ability to fuel my Campaigns with magical music. Every Game Master will see this and, i hope, will concur with my declaration. Behold! Ser/Lady Briccko Elfroot! Purveyor of Magical Sounds and Elegance!
What Larian accomplished with this game is nothing less than UNREAL. I am gaming since 34 years now and i can count games like this with my fingers of one hand.
@@muhammadibrahimabdullah3737 Mass Effect 3 has some big moments, ending is meh, but throughout the game seeing the resolution of conflicts that have spanned all 3 games there are some amazing moments if the right choices are made across all 3. Legion on Rannoch, Mordin Solus on Tuchanka. If you only play 3 you cannot get them though, need to import a save. Finding Solas at the end of Dragon Age Inquisition's Tresspasser DLC hits hard and is super bittersweet if you liked the character.
When I first got this scene I was playing as the Dark Urge and I was role playing as Tom Riddle. I decided I'd just let Shadow Heart do her thing without interrupting her and then she saved Aylin. Talk about an unexpectedly epic moment. On of the most epic moments I've had in decades of playing games.
I was just like Shadowheart it feels like you got ya heart set to kill her its up to you. Do what you want, please lady Shar. And then she tossed to spear over the edge. I was so suprised 😳
That's because you gave her the strength to leave Shar. She was in doubts before you met her and she tried everything to convince herself to believe in the whole stuff. Otherwise Shar wouldn't have made her suffer from the injury on her hand (when SH "misbehaves"). And like a real cult member she needed to support and trust that she won't be alone after leaving. I never judged her believe, just asked questions about it and I guess it was her conclusion that somethings is wrong. But latest when I found a book on the garden of the house of grief with the title "healing depressions with olive oil", I was so perplex that it took SH so long to realise that something is odd. Girl, really? Olive oil? 🤷♀️
That moment when I thought I am seriously about to lose Shadowheart, failed every of my attemp to dispersuade her from killing Nightsong until I've said 'fine, I can't lose you. Do it' - being a Paladin of Vengeance, I am fully prepared to throw her in the shadow after she kill an angel right in front of me. But she just throw the spear herself into the darkness. There's an angel in front of me, just no were I expect to see.
I like Barn ending with Shadowheart. I dont want her to serve Selune or Shar. Because all of that happened because she was from fanatic Selunite family.
Such an epic song and epic moment in the game. Makes me want to follow Shadowheart and bring her back into the grace of Selûne and smite down all Shar followers that dare to hurt her.
Even as a sharran I was moved at this moment (although I only switched my side when I realised how disappointed those sharrans are in this game at act 3)
I'm not sure what the mechanics are for getting it, but in my good run I didn't have to use persuasion on Shadowheart. I chose the options asking her not to do it but told her I didn't want to lose her, and trusted her to make the right decision on her own, and she threw away the spear without me making a single roll. I was so proud of her. I grew up in a cult, so watching her shake off the chains of her religious brainwashing and choosing to be her own person felt so cathartic. For me, this song and this scene aren't even about the "morally correct" choice of not killing an innocent Aasimar, but fully about making the choice to be true to yourself instead of cutting away pieces of yourself to fit into someone else's expectations.
For a second, when SH conjured up that spear, with a determined look on her face, I thought *_oh, shoot! I have failed!_* thankfully, I save-scummed every time before clicking the next dialogue option in the cutscene. And when she threw that spear, my relief was great. And then *_this song_* came on.
Shadow heart emphasized, “Let me do my own thing” and the final dialogue option is you telling her to do it, don’t do it or don’t interfere. I’ve always chose not to interfere and I’m always rewarded by this song. I think there’s also a purgation check but I’m too scared of a 20+ die roll
When I got this cut scene, I got goosebumps. I felt like the Narrator being in the DM seat going all "Hell yeah! I get to play sick music and my players aren't being fucking degenerates".
This game is incredible and has changed the way I see video games, I was coming for a tremendous boss fight of my life, and I found myself saving someone from their horrible fate, and saving a friend from her dark path, I haven't finished the game yet but I hope for more like this It is the first time I have played a game like this of this type, turn-based battles, rpg, very complex for me since I had never played anything like this but I think it won my heart.😢
Dame Aylin is so badass, until she actually "help you" in combat. Spoiler -> the game become actually a giant escort mission when you have to save this suicidal girl x')
When I got to this scene I failed my first dice check, I had 4 inspiration point, i failed the first reroll, the second one, the third one was even worth and the last one I think was a nat 20 or a 15 but I had a +4 and lae'zel's assist.
This was so awesome on my first run playing a paladin. Even mechanically the storming of the keep that comes right after is epic. Dame Ailyn tho, I can take or leave tbh.
I had the misfortune of playing 75% of the game without music because I muted it once and I forgot. I finished the game and never heard this song before 😭
Different types of RPG s. Witcher is an action rpg. But I agree that BG3 is better. That nightsong scene is on my top 10 video game moments of all time, the song is S tier
