One thing that is also an incredible tip! Go to settings and there is a setting to make it so when a party member initiates a chat, you auto listen in so you don’t have to worry about missing the start of their chat (unless you are in a menu)
Pro tip: You can customize when the Reaction popups trigger for each ability individually -- for instance, a Paladin can set it so Smites go off automatically on crit and nothing else. Or set it to ask with a popup, but only on crit (Paladins typically want to save smites for crits anyway). Getting your friends to customize their reactions this way should eliminate some of the constant pausing during combat!
If I crit, don't ask. Just SMITE! Sadly bards can't customized when cutting words triggers. (at least in early acess) Won't be enough to stop me from playing one though! 🙉
@@prototomtroy, please, pretty please, I need that "cowboy hat" you got on Lae'zel for my Barde... I found one video mentioning it..and forgot to make a note for it... Where is it, exactly? Please 🎋
@@prototomtroy , Thank you, I think I met her indeed at the druid grove, but her singing distracted me enough so that I didn't even notice a chest! Thanks!!🎋
I think multiplayer is where your channel will really shine. You have a great crew with a good sense of humour. Really looking forward to seeing your playthrough
Appreciate this, have a LAN planned with some friends. We have played DND and Divinity Sin together already but its good to get a refresher before Thursday.
First great video. Second Thinking about it the one thing I would say that was kinda covered (but I still want to say lol) is to try to decide as group what your going to lean towards when dealing with big decisions. For example the Druid camp vs the goblins. Having 2 people go around trying to do both is going to lead to a lot of dead bodies and probably cause tension so discussion about what to do before and during can help alot. (Speaking from experience)
The only thing I wish they would change is everyone interacting in the dialogue, like if our parties leader is a bard and a goblin in talking shit me as the 7ft tall lizard should be able to intimidate him, not just the bard rolling for stats he doesn't have just like we don't send our wizard to turn off traps or unlock doors.
I think before you jump to a multiplayer game with others you need to have a conversation between and agree on some ground rules. It's like having a session 0 with D&D group. I wish someone would make a video about this, but i think it is essential to making sure that everyone is gonna have a fun time.
you don't need a dedicated healer imo. healing word is major but healing pots are plentiful and short/long rests are free as heck to use. those spell slots you'd use for healing that could be better spent on buffing/cc/damage.
Me and my friends got this game and played like 3 different mini campaigns until we found a group that would consistently be available to play. Ofc we had a new guy in this party. Unfortunately, one of my friends decided he was gonna speedrun to hoard all the tadpoles, meaning our new guy wouldn't even get to understand what they were without an explanation, which was really lame. I also decided to kill the strange ox for the shapeshifter ring, which i should've consulted the party on, and idk why I didn't. Generally, it's just a lot of problems, so thanks for making this video that i can passive aggressively send in the gc.
I play a fighter with my friend being the main character. Since I'm only there to chop people up and once in a while Bean a random with an Arrow to head by accident I honestly just read a Book or Manhwa irl while he fucks around(sometimes literally) in town Been reading Blood Meridian lately, I want to try Dark Urge and play Judge Holden, the Bard Since he's literally a jack of all trades in the book
me and my sister are having the worst time. it keeps thinking shes the main character when im hosting. i cant use the camp chest at all. and if i reload a save i cant control characters anymore i have to restart the game completley then reinvite her.
Try the 'Session' Options in the Escape menu to help with character control! And there should be multiple chests. Each player has one assigned to them!
Oh no! I was planning on making a lore bard/paladin for a tanky front liner who can help his team make hits/make enemies miss...every attack made by me and every attack made my my allies and every attack made by an enemy is going cause a pop up because of smite or cutting words...bet that gets old quick
Super useful, thank you! Would you happen to know how Paladin oaths work in multiplayer? If I'm playing paladin and another party member performs an action that would break my oath, does that affect me? Thanks
I believe the paladin themselves has to go against the oath. But if a party member befriends a goblin and the paladin walks over and tries to cut said goblins head off, that will make the paladin lose their oath.
you did not answer the basic questions i had when looking for this kind of video. 1. how soon can you play coop? at start of game or is it like ff14 stylel? 2. is coop drop in and out friendly or are you locked in to only being able to progress campaign if everyone present
You can start a co-op game right at character creation and be together from the moment the game starts! Or you can have a buddy hop in and out at anytime once you add a certain character to your camp. (about 1. 5 hours into the game)
now. If only I could let my friends custom characters join me in the middle of a campaign. Without perm leaving behind their characters.. Maybe get them to sleep at camp or something..
My group of 4 started yesterday, but we all created Custom Characters. Is it better if we select Origin characters in our first play through? We're thinking we may miss out on a ton of story. Just need a recommendation as to if doing all 4 custom will be a better experience or all Origin or if it even makes a difference.
They put a LOT of love into the origin characters. I'd say at the very least 1, if not 2 might want to play origin characters. But custom characters are tons of fun, you just might miss some cool character cutscenes. I've never tried all 4 origin but it would be hella cool I bet!
Fantastic video, definitely going to help stop me and my party from making some of the same mistakes you guys encountered 😂 Really looking forward to watching your campaign when I’m not engrossed in my own! Thanks man
Would you advise using then same character for solo/multi-player plays or having 2 separate character to keep things balanced for the multi-player team?
Sorry just to confirm...if me and my mate buy this game start it together same day creating our custom characters we cannot finish the story together ? So if he always joins my game when we finish the game only i technically have finished it, meaning he gets no story trophies/achievements or story progression nothing ? And if i can't play cause im busy he can't continue and do side quests or explore alone, then when I come back we just continue the main story? For example is it like the borderlands games where you do main story together and I (the host) leave to go bed, other players can continue playing side quests leveling up and that not doing story missions, then when I come back we continue the story. Or is it like we do 10 story missions together I go off-line, does he lose all those 10 missions we did together, so if he wants to go do side missions in his own game while im not there, all those missions we did are gone for him in his game if he decides to play alone...if so that's shit as and we won't be getting it...could anyone please confirm for us Thanks
If you start a co-op game together you will only be able to play that save file together. but you'll both get to experience the story and unlock achievements together! I'd recommend a solo game, and a game or two with some friends
@@prototomtroy cheers for the quick reply man, sorry to ask again but u said you will be able to play the story together and it will save then you said but u can get trophies, why add the but did you accidentally write will instead of won't?
Hi guys! Is there a way to split npcs in our group between control of 2 people? Currently i have a team of me and my friend with 2 bots. And as a host i control all the NPC's. Is there a way to give control over one of the nots to my friend?
Idk man I tried to play Divinity 1 and 2 and it’s was hard to play this game coop. I could just be me but there’s way too much downtime between fights to keep two people interested for long enough. Too much going on to feel like it’s a shared experience. I wanna buy this game but I feel like I’m just going to be playing it solo like both divinities. There’s no way I’m going to be able to not bore my wife to death trying to experience this whole thing.
I will say the out of combat portions of this game are FAR superior to DOS I & II. Try an evil run and there won't be much talking since you'll be killing most of the characters lol
Thanks man. I talked to my wife and she said she was down to play. I’m pretty sure if I get her hooked on the story then I’ll be good. She just sits next to me watching Netflix any way😂
