I'm super stoked for Miirym - I've wanted a Temur dragon commander forever and none of the other temur commanders really did it for me for that strategy. Also, lore-wise Miirym lives (haunts?) a library and I'm a librarian!

@@toasttr Seeing how you only get a copy if it is a non-token entering the battlefield, I don't think so. Miiyrm doesn't copy themselves, of course, so you'd need to Spark Double them or something, but then you're just getting two token copies instead of one.

Jimmy you don’t need a sac outlet for myrkul you can just activate the untap ability to put -1/-1 counters on the creature until it is 0 toughness because that ability doesn’t require you to tap it first

Mahadi is a Cat Devil because it's a Rakshasa. Which is an demon from Hindu mythology that D&D grabbed and turned into a Fiend type monster.

1:12:05 Murph speaking words that make me happy. I love giving my opponents cards. I think Jimmy and Josh focus too much on winning. I want fun. Let's see my opponents pop off. They have awesome decks I'm sure and I want to see them. Maybe someone's getting mana screwed. Howling mine helps out and let's them have fun. I seriously think some people need to rethink their approach to commander. Cards like Secret Rendezvous need to be encouraged and not frowned upon.

Commander is such a weird format lol. People insist you should play for fun and not win more than 25 percent of the time but then evaluate every card on efficiency and power level like it’s legacy.

@@imanujakku I've been building one commander deck for years. Mostly play modern legacy, one drop formats, so still kinda don't get why people would run more than 3 drop commmamders, even with ramp, like you want to cast cultivate turn 3? Now u can just jeweled lotus jhoira or urza t1? The format will get sped up with time. 2 drop mana rock? Why I got a zero drop mox amber or sol ring, mana vault/crypt... I tried brawl with 5 drop commander and that add 2 to re casting cost makes anything more than 2 drops hard... I see it all going the hybrid mana way like jinnie fae but not 3 drop just 2 hybrids for 4 color 2 drop like sygg and phyrexian mana down the line

The fact that the Council of Four triggers for you too is what makes it so good. All of your 1 CMC draw spells now draw you an additional card so you're easily drawing at least 3 cards on your turn (plus getting even more when your opponents use their card draw). Since the council can also spit out a ton of creatures they can also eventually provide you with a wincon as well - white has plenty of anthems and there's even tribal support like Knight Exemplar which is bonkers in the deck. I think Jimmy is severely underrating this card...

A note for Miirym: if you target him with a clone, the original miirym makes a token non-legendary version of miirym (though you do sac the original clone), and then then the next dragon makes two token copies. Keep doing this with clones on miirym you can get to the point where you have 1 then 2 then 4 etc copies of your commander

Neera, Wild Mage feels like Wizards's 28493rd attempt to make "Narset, but Fair And Not Lifedraining To Play Against". That said, it's still awesome.

Neera, wild mage is for sure gonna be one of my favorite commander's so far. Definitely filling the deck with plenty of sweet cast triggers like Conduit of ruin to tutor out a huge creature. Or casting a ornithopter for zero mana and getting a huge threat in. Also already really like the reality chip and similar cards to see what's coming from the top.

1) Cast Miirym 2) Cast Spark Double as a copy of Miirym 3) Since the SD ETBs as a nontoken Dragon, it gets copied by Miirym 4) You now have 3 Miirym on the battlefield 5) PROFIT

Fun Interaction w. Miirym: Cryptic Gateway. (5) Artifact: (Tap two untapped creatures you control: You may put a creature card from your hand that shares a creature type with each creature tapped this way onto the battlefield.) If you have Miirym and another Dragon out, tap them both to put one from your hand into play untapped, and also get a token copy of it. Both enter untapped. So you tap the two you just created and put another one into play. Which also mean you get 2 in total. Add in card draw effects like Elemental Bond, Temur Ascendancy, or Kindred Discovery, and you got yourself a free trip to putting every Dragon in your deck on the battlefield while copying them all at the same time 👌🏼

@@calvinbarboza Thank you! I thought I'd mention that Hoarding Dragon is perfect for this kind of build. Tutor out Cryptic Gate and get it whenever they kill your Dragon. At worst you keep beating them down with a bully that they'd rather almost die to than let you have a Tribal Omniscience out

I'm quite liking the designs of the commanders in this set. Plenty of support for various archetypes and only a few are generically good. I know the internet is fairly down on the set (at least the places I visit), but I'm really liking the set as a whole. I'm a big Horror creature fan, so there is plenty of good stuff in this set for someone like me.

Raggadragga is probably my favorite gruul legendary of all the gruul legendaries mostly cause most gruul cards don’t play to my style of play, but what makes me obsessed with raggadragga is that if you got a card like living plane on the field since lands are now technically creatures with mana abilities, you have 3/3 vigilant lands while everyone else has 1/1 non vigilant lands, also you can build to be super staxxy with living plane style cards to block mana which I love.

Spark Double and Sakashima in Miirym is also insane, cause you copy Miirym it'll enter as a Dragon, which triggers Miirym and you get a nonlegendary copy of it too. Next Dragon you cast in the turn makes 3 extra copies 👍🏻

They didn't mention how nutty using that Spark Double to copy Miirym itself is. It enters as a nonlegendary Miirym, and the original Miirym sees another Dragon enter so you get ANOTHER nonlegendary Miirym. One 4 mana spells means you from one Miirym to THREE! Now any other nontoken Dragon that enters gets copied THREE times!

For Neera, Wild Mage. Since its a cast trigger doesn't it mean that you put the unresolved spell on the bottom on the library? Say you cast Opt, I think you would not scry/draw and just put it on the bottom of the desk and start revealing? I feel that it would have to be worded like Feather is (put on bottom of desk AS IT RESOLVES), to get it to work how they were saying it does in the video.

Mazzy can probably also be played with cards like Shiny Impetus, since you don't have to worry about the creature dying and the trample effect counts on them as well. You get free treasures and can goad so many things.

I think Tasha, the Witch Queen goes into the 99 of a Evelyn, the Covetous deck. Evelyn exiles a card off everyone’s deck when a vampire enters so you will have a board set up, slam Tasha, cast from exile, create a token, then exile something from the graveyard as well to keep the exile engine going.

Changeling Beserker and Changeling Titan are super strong in the Miirym deck. If you have both at the same time it gets crazy (infinite ETB, LTBs and dragons of your choice).

Progenitor Mimic also goes really well in Mirym. because the tokens it drops get copied, so it just keeps spreading as long ad it can't be easily removed.

Didplacer Kitten in Neera is a fantastic combo piece I think. I believe that, with proper ordering with your triggers, you can keep a chain going with her ability. Dispacer Kitten also lets you use both of Tasha's loyalty abilities in one turn.

Really easy to go full dungeon run on sefris on 1-2 turns. You are in esper so almost the best way to protect your board and control the game pace.

Trick with Mahadi and Lifeline. You can stack the triggers so that lifeline triggers first. Returning all your creatures. Then you re sacrifice them so when mahadi resolves, you get double the treasures. And your creatures will come back at the beginning of your opponents end step (assuming lifeline is in play and you have a creature)

With Minsc and Boo they didn't actually mention the trample tribal cards from Ikoria. There is the uncommon which lets you ignore creatures which block your trample creatures and the rare which makes dinosaurs (might be beast) based off the damage trample creatures deal to your opponent

Your crew needs to build Sefris. Not just precon, constantly trashing it. Quick dungeon provides top deck manipulate, sac fodder, card advantage and commander gives great grave recurrence.

Played Minthara at PreRelease last night and I loved it. Myriad is absolutely busted with her leave the battlefield ability. Think by the end of the game I had 9 experience counters, just felt good to be swinging with giant creatures. Killed one guy in my pod who was at 25 life with just one swing and two creatures, it was beautiful.

You don't even need a sac outlet to get Devoted Druid off immediately, you can just -1/-1 her until she dies. I'm pretty sure she doesn't actually need to be tapped to activate her ability, since that is the effect of the ability, not the cost.

Correct: you can activate her ability while she's untapped. You could do it even if it was part of the cost (you can untap an untapped permanent): that's why costs tend to say "tap an untapped " or "untap a tapped ". (The tap and untap symbols already imply this restriction.)

Minthara and kelsien don’t work incredible together. Minthara needs your own stuff to leave the battlefield, but Kelsien can only target other people’s stuff. I’m sure it wouldn’t be hard to find a sac outlet in mardu, but just thought you guys should know.

Oji is cool to me because it shows a different way of being very controlled and disciplined - I'd be tempted to try and optimize it so that I can cast 2 spells every single turn (tho my brain isn't that big)

44:40 I like how Murph compare Niv-Mizzet, Parun to Myrkul.... Yes it's one mana less and can't be countered.... BUT: Myrkul is green (access to the best ramp), has 4 colorless mana in his cost.... I consider Myrkul to be like a 5 CMC non-green commander.

i play a commander deck with rasaad yn bashir with the background sword coast sailor. and i have the enchantment called stone skin for it, with a few cards that let me take the initiative. this combo allows my commander to hit someone for 26 commander dmg unblockable. (if i get the optimal hand, and not getting counter spelled, i can start killing of people round 3)

Kind of considering to put Rilsa Rael, Kingpin in my Sefris deck. Mostly due to the fact that Sefris is a value engine and lacks ways to do a lot of combat damage.

Ur dragon will always be the best dragon commander imo. Five colours gives you such broad access and the eminence ability is broken. You don’t even need to cast him to get insane value but if you do then it’s even more cracked. But I do love Miirym, and he is for sure going in the 99. Soooo many cool dragon support cards to spice up the Ur dragon deck

I want to build Mazzy in more of a political/goading kind of build. Run the Impitus cycle and a few other auras to give to my opponents, then removal for if they try to attack me.

the -1/-1 creatures could just kill themselfes with the -1/-1 counters so you wouldnt even need a sac outlet for myrkul devoted druid or one of the others.

Rereading Mahadi, Emporium Master, thought this would work but don't think so now. But thought about revel in riches. Situation might go like this? (Still newbie here but like to widen my knowledge/wisdom) (After blowing up board) Mahadi, Emporium Master, then black mana spell that takes another turn (remember hearing that in this episode or part 1?)? And before taking you next turn, revel in riches?
