The car was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2015,launched in India on 24 October 2015 and in Japan on 9 March 2016.It became available in Europe in April 2016.It was also launched in Indonesia on 10 August 2017 at the 25th Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show.
It is built on a powertrain range of three options: a new 1.0 L Boosterjet three cylinder direct injection turbo petrol engine, a four-cylinder 1.2 L Dualjet petrol engine with SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) and a normal 1.2 L Dualjet petrol engine.Indonesian and South African model gets a four-cylinder 1.4 L naturally aspirated engine instead.
The Baleno was introduced in India on 24 October 2015. Slots above the Swift, the hatchback was built to maximize interior space while retaining Indian tax benefit for vehicles with length dimension under 4 meters. Baleno is offered to be exclusively sold through Maruti Suzuki’s premium NEXA outlets across India. This car has been one of the best selling car model in India. In India, the Baleno is available in four variants - Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha.The car used is Delta Automatic 2019 mondel - Petrol varient.
The hatchback belongs to the 'premium' hatchback segment of the Indian automotive market. It competes with the Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz and the Volkswagen Polo.
