Sad to say that you are right. Not many people are interested in the culture of Bali and that is the reason why we love Bali. The culture is amazing and Bali is such a spiritual place. The one thing we disklike the most is the beach clubs - hopefully Bali won't be ruined by too many beach clubs as it will lose its magic.

'Something is wrong.' Preman security, Canggu tourists deported, even banning mountain climbing. This appears to be another conflict between the elites (Oligarchs v Batak and Jakarta Chinese) but when the elephant's fight it is the little animals who get trampled on.

Bantu oblong, Echo Beach. I must find my photos. There were 2 little warungs, struggling, lots of paddocks and a few lovely cows wandering around. Our friend, Wayan was very reluctant to take us there. He hated going to Canggu even then. 1982....

So good to see this area..... Without having to go there myself 😆😅🤣 Revolver does look like a good spot to have a meal of coffee, but I think the problem now is.....everyone of the ' LOOK AT ME CLUB' will follow the influencers so they can ' LOOK COOL TO THERE FRIENDS'. AND THEY ONLY FOLLOW TRENDS : LIKE A TYPE OF FEEDING FRENZY and unless you are a new business your established business will be overlooked... Very sad state of the Infuencers Phenomenan....If a business wants to survive it HAS TO REINVENT itself every 3 or 4 years to be current. Its these type of Insta famous influencers that ARE ruining Bali for both tourists and locals alike... 🌞 Bit of good news I read today was, Sanur will be getting a new road to ease congestion and create a more harmonious expieriance..... Really good that they are starting this now before a greater influx of tourist comes for the hospital services. Thanks Damian and Winny....always a joy to watch your vlogs and get a real sense of what is happening in Bali 🙏🙏🙏

I missed that bit as are not too familiar with Sanur...but it also is in response to the increasing traffic to the new harbour, so might be a bypass. The article stated they are already underway in reclaiming land ( Which is worrying what that really means for affected locals ), they did mention buyback. It is good they are more aware of the problems of not including inferstructure in a master plan for these new improvements and I REALLY hope they do the right thing by any affected locals. In Ubud for eg they had the best opportunity to develop a large underground parking area for cars under the new ART MARKET. And that would have set the example, for any new or refurbished business in Ubud central to have underground parking for their project to get approval. They did do well to have underground parking but really could have pushed a bit further to have car parking as well. If only we could plan all these new developing areas Damian...we would make Bali a best practise example to the world....😁😄😆😅🤣😂 But seriously because Bali has world attention on it constantly it could be a SHINNING EXAMPLE to the rest of the world how to improve and develop tourist areas and areas of special intrest, whilst also enhancing/protecting the enviroment and enhancing the LIVES and WELLBEING of the local BALINESE people. It is the BALINESE people that are the ones that give Bali its UNDEFINABLE MAGIC, through their SPIRITUAL and CULTURAL practices that are so entwined in their EVERYDAY LIVES that there is NO DEFINABLE BEGINNING or END. When that is taken away BALI will just be a do as you like circus designed for MINDLESS TOURISTS. YEP......thats my rant for today 😃

Omg canggu changed a lot. Just 5 years ago it was a real indonesian road, open dirty road with a mix of semi barracks and homestays. I was lucky to visit Canggu when it was still originally populated by a bunch of crazy travellers

Not sure why Motel mexicola needs to move in. Enough bars already and will take away business from the local run warungs at the front. Best place to sit and watch the surfers is Seaweed Resto.
