Curcuma zanthorrhiza, known as temulawak, Java ginger, Javanese ginger, or Javanese turmeric is a plant species, belonging to the ginger family. It is known in Javanese as temulawak, in Sundanese as koneng gede and in Madurese as temu labak. The scientific name is sometimes written as Curcuma xanthorrhiza, but this is an orthographical variant. This plant originated from Indonesia, more specifically from Java island, out of which it spread to several places in the biogeographical region Malesia. Currently, most of the temulawak is cultivated in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines. Curcuma zanthorrhiza is used as a medicinal plant. The rhizome contains an ethereal oil (5ml per kg), it primarily consists of Sesquiterpenes. There is also a content of Curcumin (at least 1%, Ph. Eur.) and starch. Curcuma zanthorrhiza is used for dyspepsia. It is a spice too.

4:30 it is curcuma turmeric. From the old days, Javanese Balinese use curcuma for medication. It is very good for your liver. But be careful, Parents usually make their children consume curcuma in order to increase appetite.

The drink is made from Curcuma, basically its good for liver, its tradisional "jamu" but on that bootle i think being added with other ingredient especially sugar ......btw you can make your own jamu, just slice some Curcuma , not too much ( just a one fingger size, add 3 glass of water, boiled it and added with brown sugar for sweet taste.

Back in 2009, warung mami is my favourit place for seafood, great taste with reasonable price!!! Not lots of change in term of place but look more nicer with ceramic flooor. Must Try even quite long in queqe. 😁

Laos = galangal Temulawak = lesser galangal Temulawak is usually used for herbal medicine / drink (jamu). It's strange to convert it into softdrink since it's like adding herbal medicine ingredient with soda. No wonder the taste is subjective.

Wah i’m late! Temulawak is kind of ginger, that drink was so pupolar around 90s / early 2000… If you want even weirder (but healthier) drink, try Jamu! My reccomendation is Kunyit Jahe or Beras Kencur 😁 Fun fact about the love and hate about durian, even the durian lover have segregated into people who love a bitter durian and the sweet one 😅

When my first time at warung mami was like more than 12 years ago. They did not have as many tables like now. Their best is the fish n scallop n sambal mantah. But the last 4 years i did not eat at warung mami anymore... Waiting too long. Got other place better.

I think vitally know to enjoy the food. He mixed rice with side dish. Not one by one, like first eat the meat than eath the rice than eat the sambal. You can tray like this: put side dish, sambal and other side dish on top the rice

Hi Jean & Vitaly, another yummy vlog. My kinda meal being a pescetarian. The shellfish that you guys had are clams as oppose to scallops. I can easily have 5 or more portions of the shellfish alone. I must say I'm not a fan of durians but love cheesecakes so I'm intrigued by the durian burnt cheesecake. Just wondering, does the Durian Darlings cafe smell of durian???😃 Cheers!!!

yo Jo (if i may haha)! hope you had a rad Sat (i'm all about the rhyming right now, just came back from a balinese massage maybe it unblocked smtg lol). we weren't sure about clams vs scallops so it just was being made up as we ate along but it was damn good! my fav new shellfish discovery. We actually went back to kedonganan market n bought some more of the same and had it grilled at one Warung Hawaii - YUMZ! n u're right, the actual scallops look different. I now know, cos we bought them at the market too. They r flattish in shell shape! N no the cafe did not smell like durians at all! i think Rika is quite careful lah haha
