Great to see better yield in the field and I love seeing the older equipment still getting it done

We are excited to see a better yield out of this field. Still not where it used to be but we are slowly building it back up. My dad and grandfather bought that round baler new in 1981 I believe, it's never gotten wet since it left the dealership. Never been rained on and never been washed. Love that baler. And it makes bales tighter than most belt baler I've seen. Thanks for watching!

The old NH still makes some nice tight bales! Nice footage bud!!

That it does. I wouldn't trade that baler for any newer one. Thanks for watching!

There’s an 853 on marketplace for 1450. I’ve only had and ran “newer” belt balers. I’m not doing custom anymore because it’s more trouble than it’s worth. Just doing my own hay these days. Thought it might be nice to get a chain baler so I don’t have to worry about screwing with belts anymore. If I flip a belt 1 more time I’m pulling out a lighter 😂

I've never ran a belt baler. They seem to make good looking bales though. Other than bending a bar when it picked up a tree branch, I've never had any issues with the 853. Thanks for watching!

How would the 706 handle your round baler?
@oilfarmer706
@oilfarmer706 Год назад
I'm sure it would handle it just fine. It may not like dragging it up some of our steeper hills with a full bale. Fun fact, before the 1066 came around, the Allis Chalmers 5050 used to run the round baler.

On your round baler is there a monitor on it where is everything manual
@oilfarmer706
@oilfarmer706 4 месяца назад
There is a guage on the front of the baler to let you know how full the bale is, there is another guage to let you know where your twine is at on the bale when wrapping it. The only thing on the tractor is a control box with a 3 position momentary switch to run your twine back and forth (electric tie baler) and a buzzer to let you know when the bale is full. Thanks for watching and commenting!

I love my NH 853, but it has problems with starting a bail. Sometimes it plugs and sometimes it does not. Sometimes it will plug back to back to back bail and other times I can bale multiple bales without an issue. Any advsie?
@oilfarmer706
@oilfarmer706 2 года назад
I've plugged this baler many a time. In my personal experience, starting the bale out at a slower speed especially with heavy windrows helps. I always crowd the edges of the pickup thought the bale switching from side to side. Once the bale is started then I turn it loose and let it eat. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

@@oilfarmer706 Gotcha, when you say starting the bale out at a slower speed, are you saying a slower ground spped or slower PTO speed? Thank you for your time.
@oilfarmer706
@oilfarmer706 2 года назад
Slower ground speed.
@brycegoodrich3003
@brycegoodrich3003 2 года назад
@@oilfarmer706 gotcha, so how fast are you goin when you start a bale? how fast do you go when the core is formed and making the bale? whats your PTO speed. I apologize for the questions.
@oilfarmer706
@oilfarmer706 2 года назад
No apologies necessary. I don't know if you are familiar with an IH 66 SERIES gearing and speeds but when I start a bale I am in 1H with the torque back. Once the bale is established I throw the torque forward. Engine RPM is usually 1,600 to 1,800.
