Hi, I usually put grease on them too, but this was the first time I had used the pto on this tractor and I had dropped the grease gun back at the washed by the time I hooked that up. Thanks from Geoffrey

What a classic combination a 317 and 178. All running very well. Having watched this all my life at operating speed, I did enjoy the slow motion of the knotters. watching the hay compress and spring as the plunger return was fasinating. also the chain deflection on the knotter drive as the load came on and off. well done ! My friends and family all run away at hay carting time. Can you send your helpers my way in a couple of weeks ? I start cutting on Tuesday once we finish shearing on Monday.

Hi David, I am glad you enjoyed it. I took the slow motion because I wanted to see it, but it turned out very well. I have been lucky that my family have always been happy to come and help. Many years ago I had the whole extended family stocking for me as I was cutting and binding hay. Good luck with shearing. We will be shearing in about a month. Thanks

@@brookdalefarm7986 It would be great one day for you to all introduce yourselves in a video if you were comfortable doing so. I have a neighbour who I bale small bales for. He is happy to help with carting and a young friend who likes weekend work.. I think I have only driven the truck for 2 loads in the past 22 years. I have a round baler for the bulk of the hay now days

@@davidrobertson376 hi David, I am not very comfortable being on camera yet, but probably after harvest I will do an introduction video. I did enjoy the video that Pete did with him an Hillary cleaning out the gutters. I hope to get a round bailer soon to do all the hay for out cattle. Thanks from Geoffrey

@@brookdalefarm7986 whenever you feel it's a good time to get in front of the camera will add a real personal touch. Yes Pete has a real gift of presentation and Hillary adds class. I would love meet them one day. What you do is very much closer to the scale I operate, but we are mostly sheep, lamb producer. And work off farm about 30 hours a week. We have all tried cropping around here and although you can grow a crop we return to XB ewes. It's just not cropping country right where we are. Keep up the good work. Dave.

Did you just make hay from just the field edges?
@brookdalefarm7986
@brookdalefarm7986 Год назад
Hi, we only cut enough hay to feed our sheep and cattle, so yes we just cut 1 lap around the outside of the paddock. This also gives us a wider fire break between paddocks. Thanks from Groffrey

@@brookdalefarm7986 Okay that's a neat way of getting some forage from the grain.
