The 45 baler brings back not too fond memories one of the worst working balers IH ever made we bought a 36 and cut the 45 up for scrap the one in the video works pretty good with the extra knot checking attachment !!
My dad and grandfather bought a 45 T baler in 1951,it was brand new. After about 50 bales it started missing.they called the dealer and (long story short)the shaft through the knotters was not heat treated enough, and the triangle knotter wheel wore the keyway and threw the knotters out of time. The new shaft did the same thing, just slower,I rode it from age 5 to 18,MUCH aggravation and swear words. We found it's twin and it worked great for 3 years till dad quit farming.
@steelhauler18 nothing like that but my grandfather used to drive the tractor towing the baler and wagon when I was stacking. He was pretty much deaf and didn't turn around to see what was going on behind him too often. If the baler stopped tying (usually too much chaff around the knotters) or broke a shear bolt I would have to jump off the wagon and run around to the front of the tractor to get his attention to stop everything so I could fix it and get it going again.
@Elplacs no the bailer is not in transport position the toung on this bailer dose not swing like most do it is fixed in one position and that is where it stays
haha i have a special knot checking system also, my brother runs the tractor and i have to walk behind and watch the knotter. the left knot gets hung up on the "fingers" once in awile. great video
I really enjoyed this video! It's inspiration for me to get my 2 McCormick 55T balers going with my old '55 Farmall 400 gas. I'm looiking forward to this summer and making my own video of the operation.
