I just hate some of the faces on some of the students watching. I don’t know why being in band supposedly makes you “ weird “ or not cool. Why can’t we just enjoy playing an instrument without getting bullied for it
Ok I’m currently in this bands percussion section and I just searched “Ball high band” and this video with 1.5 MILLION views pops up. Like how?!? And then I read through the comment section and all of the comments are talking about how good they sound, the exact opposite of what I was expecting. The Ball high band loses every single competition it goes to by a mile. We literally joke about how bad we are. I am completely shocked right now.
Not even trying be mean here, wrom Weaver high school band btw, so standards are different for our band, but Sheet music holders, being off-step, and I heard some major wrong notes, idk how it is 9 months from this comment, but that's just about it
No I agree with you I saw the comments 1st and thought it was gona be at a higher level but I have learned that what I got was incredibly lucky I got to learn and play the tuba my senior year of high school but I learned that year so my expectations are based on people who have gone to region band and have maid it to state many years in a row
This brought back my memory of my final march in high school. I was a trumpet player, first seat in my band. I memorized all the music just like you. Our school had a y formation to the main building, and we split in half, with the second chair leading the trumpeters on the other side. We marched all the way down the halls, playing the fight song, and met in the gym. Still in absolutely perfect sync, too. Was the most fun I've ever had, and I'd do it all over again given the chance.
I felt this on a very spiritual level. My trumpet section is 3 in concert band and 2 in jazz band. Plus, our school doesn't even have a marching band. 😭
I'm going to join marching band next year, this only makes me more pumped. We had marching band in sixth grade and I remember one day at practice it was raining so we marched inside. Some teachers came out and it was frickin awesome
It is fun but also a lot harder at the same time. I would recommend learning your music as soon as possible because it makes it easier to learn the actual marching and patterns that you will be doing. I've been in marching band for 3 years :)
I played trumpet for 7 years, so I've got preps on how the trumpet players were able to stay in tune and keep their arms in the air for that very long time, your arms get tired and not to mention your lips go numb after awhile, so congrats to you all
Thankfully I was in color guard/core so I didn't have to March with an instrument. How ever I loved concert season and was a tenor sax player. I wanted to play barri but I just couldn't. So to the kid marching barri you are a trooper
@@tylord3861 yeah it's a loose performance. It's just to get the school hyped. I have never done one of these because my school is boring but I don't think it would be taken very seriously
When we do our spirit runs, we get called to parade rest. Then we do band ten hit and yell one as loud as we can to the point where we scare people in classrooms.
Im a percussion player (Snare lover) I was wondering if you ever thought if it was difficult to play drums because i always thought I could never do brass or wood winds because they looked so difficult.
I’ve been a band student since day 1 now I’m heading into 9th grade of band and this time it’s gonna be more good see you on the other side where all bands players will gather up for the last time of all of us being and high school and probably never seeing each other again.
I joined band last year, first time for 8th grade. Clarinet, i already have 2 parades under my belt, and i think like an uncountable number of concerts. (3 main concerts, but we had a band trip where we visited every school in the district. There are ALOT of schools, but the main event was for the elementary students in band, its called all city band, its actually fully supposed to be for elementary, but us middle schoolers got 1 song)
We are doing this sometime next month lol. Repeating fight song sooooo many times. They're fight song is totally different from ours tho. Ours starts with every single instrument playing 3 notes (1 beat per note, 4/4) and then percussion plays for 6 count measure and then everyone plays lolzzz
So i'm not the ONLY one who just memorizes the music? (I'm honestly terrified of attaching my sheet music to my clarinet, i'm too scared the music's gonna fall off 💀💀💀💀)
I'm a new freshman, but I've had the opportunity to play with high school bands in the past two years.... I was disappointed because my school is not doing marching this year. Dues to both covid, and two hurricanes. It's fun when you can do it though.
Nice! I totally forgot about this day like literally when I spotted myself in the video 7:44 looking at them with my Adidas jacket on like it was lit that day the best day I ever had but sadly I had to go home early bc I thought it was over
Bro you got so many trumpets, my middle schools trumpet section is so small. (we only have 3) note the entire band is good specially the people marching with bigger instruments like a tuba.
coming back a year later (my senior year mb is over) i do not understand how people do not have their music memorized if we learned like 25 songs this year and performed each and everyone of them. ESPECIALLY if its a small band, its so much easier to get good when ur small. we had 153 people and we sounded good like if you care at all about mb you should put some effort into it. not everything is halfassed. if u dont care, drop out of band ☺️
Im currently in a band myself, we just got out of pep season so this was our life. Im part of guard/flag core and its the best (Im a flute player outside of marching) so hearing something from the middle sounds bizzare and strange now. Unfortunately considering dropping due to some issues but it'll be something Ill always look at happily.
Let me say there's two extremes in guard: shortest hair and longest hair. One person has hair to her knees and my hair is mostly buzzed and we used most of the hair spray to keep our hairstyles in place, no one else really needed any-
