I counted 12 french horns. This is the trickiest instrument in the orchestra. Even professionals, sitting down, indoors, in ideal circumstances, crack a note. These schoolkid FH players are marching and dancing outdoors at the same time. I'm in awe.
This band is the absolute best of the best. Dancing without skipping a single note is beyond me. Not just an honor but also a privilege to watch and listen to this band. Superb absolutely superb and thank you all for this fine entertainment.
They Look amazing, Sound Amazing, and the Choreography was amazing too ! Probably THE Best marching band I Ever saw A BIG well done ! keep up the good work !
@@Westsideauditor1469 that is just the style of performance that hbcus do. Jackson state literally has some of the loudest mellos and tubas i have ever heard cranking. Drum corps in comparison destroy both in cleanliness and choreography. tachibana seems to do more parade routines and HBCUs do more stand tunes and try to crank out as much volume as possible. Tachibana is quite good in the sense they can do that with concert horns and makes sense as those sound better than marching equivalents. Probably one of the best parade bands out there but i wouldn't say the best marching ensemble out there. Though "best" is relative Highly recommend checking out these, just some drum corp moments. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LdVS5y-ZjOg.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-F4_j5W8-L3g.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1zP3ZEKrROY.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zlRT_7mek98.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uCbzX4CNgSk.html
京都橘高校バンドは、世界一のマルクスバームです。あなたのすばらしい献身とパフォーマンスに感謝します。 kyoto tachibana senior high school band is the number one marching band in the world. thank you for your great dedication and performance.
Absolutely John I wonder how many know how difficult it is the jump around like that while playing an instrument let along remember the dance routines.
Notice there are NO MUSIC SHEETS on their instruments! When I played in my HS band we had to memorize only FIVE songs, not near as many as these kids have to learn (and it took me lots of practice at home to memorize those five songs)! And our HS band did not perform any DANCE moves, we only learned to march in step and keep the lines straight!!! These kids do it ALL!! Just an incredable band in every way.
Avea Illium if you have not visited Japan, then don’t say negative things about a culture, visits Tokyo and you will truly be surprised on how respectful a society is to each other. Everyone should visit Japan and emulate the way they treat each other, and then you will see why these young students beam with pride and do everything perfect...this is their culture, they always bow out of respect for other people... so please stop being ignorant and visit Japan, you may never want to go home, really...such a great place to live. Great foods, great people.

As a member of a marching band, I became a huge fan of this group. I can't imagine how rigorous their training had to be to achieve these coordinative movements while playing wood wind and brass instruments without breaking a note. Hats off! These ladies and gentlemen are made of steel.
I was in an American Marching band, 20 years ago, and what impresses me is that we spent a lot of time learning to walk as smooth as possible, so that our top half of our bodies never moved, so that we stayed in constant lineup with our mouthpiece. These kids instead just force the mouth piece to the mouth, and hold it there, no matter what. That is something I would have thought impossible to do if I did not see it. I can't imagine the hours that went into learning how to do this.
There are some videos on RU-vid showing some of their practice clips. Pretty much they train like athletes where they hum whole songs while posed the whole time like they're raising an imaginary instrument to their mouth with one leg raised mid high-step.
If you’re interested at their practice hours and routine, type in “focus in kyoto tachibana” and you’ll see videos on their daily training. I think they get 40 days to train (might be inaccurate as I can’t remember but they do 7am to 7pm) daily
@@ulfleuker I appreciate what these yongsters do but.. If I have to choose for my grandchildren between discipline or creativity, self consciousness and an independent mind, I obviously prefer the last three. (They all play an instrument and just like their grandfather mostly Jazz and improvised solo's)
Oh no did they change from their Orange uniforms. So love this band I have been following them since 2012 Rose Bowl Parade, so very glad they come to USA. I am 71 and they are the best High School band I ever saw. God bless each and everyone of these talented kids.
Southern University Band human jukebox. #1 Band in america. HBCU historical black Colleges. Check out Bethune Cookman & Jackson St. University Sonic Boom.
The band you mentioned, I did check them out. Saying them #1 band in America is a gross overstatement. They are as good as some of the High School in the States. I don't fully understand the Black culture but their 'ritual' is kinda awkward and the musicality is below average at best. Formation (which is the only thing US marching bands usually claim they are the best) is weak compared to other US bands and the 'dancing', I am not even sure if it is dancing. And in some performances the announcer keeps telling people that it is the best band and I was like dude if you have to say that out loud then it sure isn't the true. They can be the best Black marching band, I am not sure, but not #1 in America. Not by a long shot. Sorry.
@@thinhvcoin no it is not gross overstatement. USA TODAY america's largest newspaper Company gave them that Title. You kidding yourself to say their good as a high school Band. That was very funny. As a African American im here to share a piece of our culture of music so that those who don't know, can be more aware of these Great institutions of Higher learning, but Evidently you did not know that.
Ryan Elliott Well, if we’re comparing high school marching bands to college marching bands, we might as well throw in DCI. The Concord Blue Devils, Santa Clara Vanguard, and the Cavaliers would outperform and outclass all of these bands. If you truly want to be blown away, watch the Blue Devils’ 2017 show, “Metamorph”
This was probably the most amazing spectacle of human performance that I have ever seen. This truly is the most amazing performance of musical skills, dancing skills and marching that I have ever seen in my entire life. I am an American, 58 years old. Watching this very video (I have seen some of your previous ones too), makes me very happy!!! Keep it up, keep bringing the joy of your amazing skills to the world and to me (single, old and alone)!!! I am so excited to see what you have to show next!!!
Can we just take a minute to appreciate that: 1. They're playing a 15-minute long musical set completely from memory. 2. They're executing complex dance routines while playing. 3. They sound amazingly good considering 1 & 2. THAT is NOT easy! I didn't even hear anyone flub their notes - very rare. Also, I hope the few boys in the band appreciate their situation. :)
I've been listening to these bands for several years now and in all that time I have never heard a badly toned note except in this clip, the notes were correct, but I noticed one saliva cracked note for a split second. I will not say which section and certainly not which player, so I challenge you to find it. It was so brief it can be forgiven, but the standards of Tachibana players are so high it proves that they were taught very well even from infancy. If I could live my life again, I would be honoured and privileged to be brought up as one of them.
@@Ash.Music.Covers Actually a group 5 of band members representing different parts of the band work out the steps and then teach the other band members.
@@allenmichaelhardman8307 My math shows closer to 2000 hours/year. They practice about 38 hours/week, 51weeks/tear. They allow themselves a 3 day summer vacation. To participate in the after school club they have to maintain a 3.0 grade point average.
Just noticed that most are young ladies. That wasn’t the case when I played trombone in high school!! I don’t think I had the cardio ability these girls have though let alone the talent and dedication. Hats off to all !!👘💋
It’s because Japan finds band more of a girl thing then rather what a guy would like to do Band is like for a girl thing there and soccer, football, baseball, basketball, etc. etc. is more of a “manly” thing for them
@@kailaine3974 I'm not going to argue what's a sport or not. Chess, video games, and the like can fall into that category. However, band is clearly different than your "normal sports" such as swimming, soccer, baseball, etc.
Yuichiro™ Nightcore yes that’s true. That was a bit of a joke we have in my marching band, and you do have to admit it’s actually quite physically strenuous.
Yours admirable girls and boys from Kyoto Tachibana shs. You have given me so many wonderful hours since March 2021 that I can no longer count them. One evening in March 2021, I was sitting in front of my PC and watching music videos. I think I was watching music from some European marching band when youtube suddenly suggested a video of Kyoto Tachibana shs. And it was exactly this video from 2016, in which you played in the parade in Yamashina in blue costumes. From the first second I was electrified and fascinated. This was the first time I saw such precise and beautifully played music, with the synchronized movements. At first I thought it was a well-done computer animation. No. It was and is Kyoto Tachibana shs. Since then I have been listening to KT every day for at least three hours every day. I need this. It's like an addiction, like a drug. because it's so beautiful. And I can watch a lot of videos over and over again and it makes me happy to see you and hear you play. Everything I could find about KT on the internet I read and read and hear every day. And the story of how KT came about, how the training is carried out, who the teachers and trainers were and are - it's all so interesting. Every note, every movement learned and rehearsed, from head to toe - everything fits. There is nothing like it in Europe. If I were younger I would move to Kyoto and learn the Japanese language and find a job just so I could see Kyoto Tachibana live every year. But there is the Internet and that is good, also for Europeans who would like to and are able to hear excellent music from young people from Japan. I would like to give a tip to people who want to experience the music and the parades and events and marches of von KT very intensively, because that's how I do it: Sit very close to your smart TV with stereo headphones. Over-ear headphones are ideal. The headphones should be wired, because with bluetooth there are always minimal delays and differences between music and movement. For example, my TV is 55 inches and I'm about five feet in front of the TV. Then search for the KT videos that you would like to see on youtube. The stereo headphones give you the impression that you are there as a spectator at the event and hear the instruments as the audience heard them at the live event. And due to the proximity to a large TV, you can also see the music students in the back rows, e.g. at the Pasadena Bandfest in the stadium. The synchronicity of the movements of hundreds of students is a great experience in front of a big screen TV. When the individual musical instrument players march past on a march through the street, you hear exactly these instruments as they pass them as if you were there live. It's great fun. Try it. And a big thank you also goes to the many videographers who keep filming these wonderful events and uploading them to the Internet. Thank you, it's a lot of work too. I wish Kyoto Tachibana shs, all students and all teachers the very best for all time. You are role models for the youth and all schools in the world. You can be proud of yourselfes. Greetings from Bavaria in Germany Peter
Kyoto Tachibana will be suggested in every video of any marching band because they are simply one of the best and most watched on youtube. They are great !!
This is the first Kyoto tachibana that I watched and I’m so addicted now I’ve watched all of their performance THE BEST OF THE BEST!! ❤️🎌🇯🇵🎌❤️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🧚♂️🧚♂️🧚♂️🧚♂️🙏🙏🙏
I have been watching this video for quite a while now and I havent seen anyone even come near to being hit by another instrument, very impressive considering all the quick movements , and flutes and trombones sticking out quite a long way...! well done .
I have just been trolling through your comments on the bands performance, not all, to many to read, and I can only appreciate the ones in English (I apologise to everyone else). But I think there is general consensus that these kids are “aliens”, in that they play and do choreography to such a high standard, we are in total ore to their extraordinary talent. There are without doubt incredible Ambassadors to Japan and also to the modern youth in their homeland. In my of working (in the UK), I worked for an American owned company for many years and that company had adopted the Japanese methodology of working and continued improvements, which taught you to be proud in your and also your life and your family life and to me that country re-invented itself after the war, to become the commercial success it is today. Well that’s my sixpence worth 😉
本当の日本の愛を示しているという気がする。I feel that I am watching Japan’s true spirit of love and joy and peace marching and dancing and it makes me feel wonderfully happy, how strange and good. All happiness be to you I pray amen

First time I found a video like this. It is absolutely stunning what they do. Both playing and dancing to a choreography.. must have been hard work to study this.
@@julofz2010 the camera guy doesnt hang around the back of the band where the flutes are so you wont see her much. The leg looks very convincing but you can spot it around 6:10 if you pause and try to find her in the second to last row.
the best marching band i have watched, its hard to march with choreo (dancing while playing and singing) and then they will blow. Where do they get their breath? incredible!
Tee Cee Are you joking.? If you want to talk about WHO invented marching bands, it's Turks with their MEHTER. If you want to talk who's the one that invent marching band in school in US, it's University of Notre Dame. Check your fact.
If i remember.. people who dislike it was a member or fans from other bands who lost to them, or at least their rival.. Remembering that this band is powerful enough to beat them..
I am amazed at every well-timed performance of this lovely band. The music is superb and the marching performance as good as West Point could offer. The young ladies are beautiful and the young men handsome. Their performance brings the beauty of art to life.
I mean marching band is not popular in many countries mainly US Idk how popular it is in Japan but this band is really good almost no mistakes I think they play really well because they don’t blast and are very balanced
I actually like this band...unlike other showbitz bands that only play 3 notes, this band not only dances, but they can actually play, and play those instruments well...well done, keep it up. Young talent !
I know. Professional orchestra players call it "The Beast" because of the way it will sometimes throw out random notes. I saw a clip of one guy finishing his solo part (with a little randomness thrown in) and he just sat deadpan staring at the instrument that had just betrayed him.
Yeah seriously. I was like, so that's what a french horn is supposed to sound like. We had french horn players in concert band who screeched like 50% of the time. Marching with french horns, the awkward way you have to hold it and play, is insane.
I hope the world can see and hear the Kyoto Tachibana SHS band at the 2020 Olympics opening and closing ceremonies. Japan can be very proud of their awesome high school band.
As always, a great video.......stayed with the band, great close up shots as well of the entire group. Thank you again. This is one of the best, glad they got to march first in this celebration.....great sound from low brass up to the high woodwinds.....My favorite as always....funny a parade up and back....but its all good, It's Tachibana !!!!!
The only way to make this better is to install camera cranes en route... 慶次郎前田-san camerawork is first class. What I liked most in this video was to see the band among sea of people. They provide first-class entertainment and it is always heart-warming to watch them get the appreciation they deserve. Busy week for the band, today is (or was) also traditional 第35回大江山酒呑童子祭り but with orange uniform! The oni must be so shocked!
Yes, they are allexceptionally superb!, Exceptionally great talent individually, I’m not Japanese but I’m very proud of them all which I believed exactly same feeling of their individual parents and love ones, more power to you Kyoto Tachibana Band, My our dear Lord guide & Bless you all the way through, greetings from London.
Wow super amazing Drum and buggles Japan so fantastic 💯💯💯 percent, the attire, very energetic, the timing is clear and beautifully!!! love from Philippines 😘🎊🎉🎉🇵🇭🥰🇵🇭🇵🇭😘😘😘😘
Those girls with the tuba and the bass drum must be buff as hell the way they're throwing around that equipment. They could probably mess up most high school guys. In my HS marching band the tuba players were all 6ft+ dudes.
