AAAAAH!!! I only watch half your video then walked outside and blew out the ball joint just like you did. Not five minutes ago. At least I watched the rest and see how to fix it. Thank you.
I had to use an import front axle nut as a spacer.(top) Driving Screw on bottom,top donut on with the big hole , cup on the bottom small donut hole. It was hard AF. Heat, air hammer, wd40.
the ford service manual calls for torquing the back bolts to 136 foot pounds. I'd love to do this the right way and torque them properly but there doesn't seem to be enough clearance between the floorpan and bolt. Any ideas?
Why don't you just torque any other bolt with enough clearance to 136 foot pound and get the feel of it, so when you do tight this one without the torque wrench it will be close to the specs, I don't think that 1lb less or more will matter. That's my opinion but again I'm not a mechanic.
+gjl07 how is it holding up? Everyone I've talked to, mechanics and even Ford dealers didn't recommend just the balljoint but rather the whole control arm ....A few mechanics said that the balljoints on the factory arms are not supposed to be able to replace the ball joints. and that at freeway speeds they make noise. Is this True?
Brian after I change this ball joints that where not easy for me because I never done this before the car is holding pretty good ,no problems so far , but I think it would be easier(not cheaper) to change the hold arm , that's only my opinion, like I said before I'm not a mechanic. I did took it to align the wheels after this job because I bought a new set of tires and its running nice.I hope this helps in your decision.

DO it BRO ASAP dam this thing can kill you .... i was so LUCKY no DUMP tRUCK on the other side of the road coz the road i was taking was a Dump Truck route....... dam i though i was going to get into the river good thing my car was low on the ground and the body stop the car itself........
Just to clarify - DO NOT replace the ball joint. Sorry its more expensive to replace the control arm but the ball joint is press fitted at the factory. It is truly a non replaceable part. Can you replace it ? Sure...but you are pushing a new ball joint into what is now a press fit hole. Credit to the video creator to get it done but if you want long life and safety, replace the control arm
Robert Arco I bought my GT seven years ago. Unfortunately, it needed new balljoints. I pressed new ones in and they've lasted seven years. Which to me isnt bad or unsafe. Plus I've 20s on my car. So they take a beating.
I went to a mechanic a year ago and they forced new ball joints into the control arm. One year later and they finally snapped. Almost lost control on the highway. I do not recommend force fitting the ball joints.
