Hey! Yesterday you responded to my question on feeding my new 2 month old ball who had only been in his enclosure 24 hours but was do to feed. You suggested wait till night and offer a fuzzy. Good news, he took it immediately and boy did he hit it hard! Thanks again. He is seemimg very comfortable and happy in his new home. You've got a new life long fan in me. Thanks man!
That's fantastic! Glad that worked out. They don't always take a meal that early when being in a new environment so it sounds like you have a confident little snake there :-)
Bob, you are definitely one of the things I most look forward to on a Monday.. That sounds weird. It is fact however, I get the notification of your upload while at work, can't wait to get the day done, get home and watch. Both stickers are appealing, I would say the black one is a slight bit more "You". It also matches the banner in the background, which gives us viewers a "connection" to the channel. I absolutely died at the fish tank humidity comment. As a matter of fact me typing it made me laugh again. You are so funny. You have to do stand-up comedy as well. Congrats on almost 600 subs, I think you better hold on. You're gonna start growing pretty quickly here. Well done and just keep doing what makes you happy. 👍🐍
Scott, thank you so much for the kind words of encouragement! Thats what keeps me making these each week. I'm really glad you found the channel and enjoy it. Glad to be a Monday highlight for you! You guessed it, I've been a standup comic for about 20 years. Its fun to have a niche channel like this and mix some comedy in when I can :-) Thanks again for your comments!
This channel is so underrated, hopefully the algorithm shows you some love soon! As long as you put out the quality content that you do I’m sure your channel will blow up! Much love!
Any tips on a new snake he is due to feed offered him a pup rat today he struck at the rat several times and wrapped it once but let it go do you think it is due to him being a new snake and is still a little stressed thank you for all your videos
Contrast on the black is better. Easier to read, more eye catching. On the beard oil thing, I was looking and a lot of beard products contain tea tree aka melaleuca alternifolia, pine, grape seed, and cedar oils. Some say may cause RI in reptiles, some say not. I don't chance it and try to avoid the essential oils. I thought it might be a niche market but olive oil beard balm might be a "reptile safe" balm someone should make. "Have your beard and reptiles too"
Yes, please do another tips and tricks. My grandson just brought home 2 baby balls.(That sounded weird) but all knowledge at this point is extremely helpful and welcome.
Thanks Joshua! Glad you like em. A donation to the channel of at least $5 will get you a sticker pack with all the stickers. Just Venmo or PayPal me (info is in this video's description), then just give me your address and I'll get em out to you!
We have two new family members. 1 is just about 1-2 years old. The other 4-5 years old. Both are kinda rehomed rescues. How can we really know how old they are? One is 20" about. The other 4-5'. We have yet to really stretch her out with a tape measure. We are loving how we Humanize their behavior. The older girl may have a blind eye. Not sure. She was burnt by an overheated heating pat. SO QUESTIONS: How to age them? Can I put some ointment on her tummy that has the scarring? It is very dry and looks a little irritated. Maybe I am humanizing her boo boo. I kiss it even. She is so curious. They both are. How do people think Ball Pythons want to live in a tank and just lay there all day? They want to get out and explore. I would love to see the enrichments that are available. THANK you for all the education. We are so much better family members having the help.
There's really no way to age them because they grow at different rates and it's impossible to tell visually how old they are. That burn might benefit from silver sufadiazine cream but it depends on how new it is. If it's old and scarring over, it will just get a little better with each shed. Ball pythons are very sleepy buggers. Once they are used to their enclosure you'll find that they sleep about 20+ hours a day, but it is good to provide them with an enriched environment and occasional handling sessions to give their brain and work out. Congrats on your new snakes!
Any advice on getting one to stop eating backwards? I hoped she would grow out of it but nope. Try often to offer the head again after she'!s got it but nope. Can take her like 5 hours to eat but she manages, always tail first 🤦♀️ Thank you!
@@GreenRoomPythons Thank you! Needed that reassurance! She's 3 and has always been an odd eater shall we say. When she was on smaller rats she would bite the tail and wave it around. Was wonderful when she had managed to tear them open 🤢🤣
For some one new to ball python keeping and the species all together such as my self that's currently trying to pick the right one for the new addition to our house for my 2 sons and my self I was hoping maybe you might be able to narrow down my choices and steer me in the right direction for picking the right one... in your opinion what would be the right morph to ultimately pick...other videos I have watched have said that some morphs are more picky when it comes to eating, things like that so was hoping maybe for some solid advice from your personal hands on experience...thank you and keep up the fantastic fantastic videos I absolutely love every thing you put out great great job....
The good news here is that those claims about certain morphs feeding better than others are generally not true. There are a couple morphs that have some genetic issues like the spider ball python but even those for the most part are just fine as pets. So if you go on Morph Market you can look at examples of every morph that's available in ball pythons and choose what you like and what fits your budget. I know that's not a very specific answer but there are literally hundreds of morphs in ball pythons that you could choose from and it really is mostly about what you like to look at. It's like if you knew what kind of car you were going to buy, and now you're just picking out the paint job.
That's actually a perfectly great answer and clarifies things just perfect so ita all black and white no read between the lines kinda be so thank you for just being forthcoming stright up it really helps tremendously.
Black stickers pop out the most! the whites a bit straining to look at, at least in the video. The white ones would actually be wonderful if they were transparent instead-- would be pretty cool! Though, with the linework not without.
I've been using foil but that clear plastic is genius! GENIUS! I know exactly where I can get some... I'm pumped, thanks for that. Really hoping this channel catches on, really good information here.
Thank You for the great tips. I just got an Enchi Lesser Spark about 3 weeks ago after months of research. I call him Simon, and he is just the sweetest guy. I love watching your videos. Keep up the great work.
@@GreenRoomPythons awesome thank you very much! Have learned tons from watching your videos , recently rescued a BEL and am looking for some stuff , I'll definitely support your shop .
@@GreenRoomPythons as someone else mentioned in the comments, matches the flag behind you in the video. Love to get hold of some but i guess posting to the UK is fairly expensive 😕
@@carlscanlan4550 No problem at all sending over seas! Lots of these stickers have gone to the UK. Just drop $5 or so in my PayPal or Venmo (in the description) and send me your address. I'll get em out to you :-)
Love your videos. I just got my blue eyed Lucy on the 18th. Breeder said she may be in shed but I didn’t see anything. I left her alone for at least 7 days and she ended up eating on 8/25. Since then I’ve noticed her skin looking wrinkled and she still hasn’t fully shed. I may try your pillow cover trick if you think it’s time? Do you think the stress from the move has affected her shed? Any tips? Thanks in advance!!
Just make sure the humidity in her cage is between 60% and 80%. You don't need to do the pillowcase thing until she actually sheds. It's only necessary if there are pieces of stuck shed still on her after she sheds.
Thank you for all the tips!! We are considering getting a ball python and your videos have really helped! We wanted to learn more about owning one, before just purchasing.
This is irrelevant but, I’m setting up a bio active ball python enclosure for the first time, do you use a heat lamp at night if so which one not to interfere with the plants day night cycle, I appreciate it
Great question! No heat lamps at all. The lights in my bioactive are just grow lamps for the plants, on a 12 hour timer. The heat from above is a ceramic heating element that produces no light - and it runs 24/7. He also has belly heat from a mat under his warm side hide.
Great video. I would go with the black stickers due to matching your flag and the round stickers. I think it would be easier in the long run for reordering. Just my 2 cents but you do what you want.
Great tips. Thank you. I agree about the glass tanks. If anything, I have trouble keeping the humidity down to 60. I had to move the plastic back an inch or 2 and now it's perfect. This Is my 1st ball python although I've had snakes off and on for 45 years. Watched all your BP videos and now you're a go-to advice guru for her care. Thanks a lot.
@@901PYTHONS Yeah I could touch on it next time I do a feeding video. I don't know that it's enough for an entire video but it should be discussed at least
I was wondering if you have any tips and tricks for snake mites? We had a time of dealing with mites within the first month of getting our ball python. I did research and did everything to get rid of them and so far we've gotten rid of them, but I don't want to put any substrate in his enclosure. Right now we're using paper towels and I know it's okay, but what can we do to prevent another infestation, which I think came from the substrate. What is the best substrate that you recommend for ball pythons?
There's a greater chance that the mites came from contact at a pet store or maybe a snake came in with mite eggs already on them. Snake mites are specific to snakes and unless the substrate is produced in the same room that a bunch of snakes live in, it's impossible that the substrate would have snake mites in it. You're pretty safe using just about any substrate that's appropriate for a ball python. I would order your substrate rather than picking it up from a pet store though because you can often bring mites home from the pet store If there are snakes in the store.
I think the black and round stickers pretty good I'm thinking about getting me a ball python in one month because my corn snake passed away recently so
@@GreenRoomPythons ya no problem hey I'm wondering if I have a hygrostat it's like a thermostat but it controls humidity instead of heat that's why they call it a hygrostat but I'm wondering since I have one is it good to use a fogger with a ball python if the fogger can be controlled and if I have something to catch the water would that be necessary to keep humidity right or would it be a different easier way I wonder if a waterfall would be better
@@davidgray4901 no need for a fogger. Those sometimes cause more problems than they solve because of bacteria growth. Best way to control humidity is to just add water to your substrate. Substrate type and water amount will all depend on your climate and enclosure setup.
@@GreenRoomPythons I see yeah my corn snake died of parasites internal so I had to bleach everything but thank you I'm thinking about I wonder if the waterfall would do pretty good because I have a lot of stuff at my disposal to use so
@@davidgray4901 waterfalls usually do well for tropical species, but you might be okay with one for your ball python. I haven't had experience with them though.
I just got my baby pastel calico ball python. He looks so sweet. I have watched so many of your videos to get all the knowledge I can and I have done more research as well I can't thank you enough!
Hey Daniel, congrats on the new snake! Calico is one of my favorite genes. I'm glad you're getting a lot out of the videos and your other research. I'm sure that snake has a fantastic home :-)
@@GreenRoomPythons he is going to be settled in shortly. I so excited. Thank you again for all the work you do and the knowledge you have! I can't wait to get ya snake cam for my twitch steam and show him off properly ♥️

@@GreenRoomPythons Your videos have helped me greatly as a new ball python owner. There really is a lot going into a pet enclosure. I found a neat idea for a snake hide. You can buy a coconut husk planter at dollar tree for a hanging basket. If you cut a hole in it, it works great as a hide. It even holds moisture if you want to wet it during the shed.
