Welcome to the Green Room. I'm Bob Bledsoe - comedian, actor, musician, writer, fire juggler - but to my snakes, I am a warm tree. I'm passionate about pythons and in an effort to compartmentalize my passions, I have created Green Room Pythons to share knowledge about keeping snakes.
You'll see videos on bioactive vivariums, care guides for beginners, handling and behavior, ball python breeding process and genetics, interviews, and probably some things I haven't thought of yet.
I have a small collection of breeding snakes, so you'll get to watch the collection grow as the eggs hatch.
My brother Kent is my only employee. He's the camera operator (sweet RCA VHS camcorder complete with auto-focus and zoom!) .... He is deathly afraid of snakes.
My snake has been missing for about a WEEK. I swear we’ve double checked everything and I’ve began to triple check, but I have absolutely no clue as to where she is. A foot long ball python should be this hard to find right?? I haven’t smelt any foul smells, but I have found some of her poop in a closet that we checked again after the discovery, but still couldn’t find her! I have no idea what to do, and doubts if she’ll ever pop up.
My pythons are emotional support animals, and they are just as heavy as mine. My back couldn't handle carrying them around for long. I want to be a Komodo dragon service animal, many of the big izards are smart 😃
Always love your helpful honts & tips Bo b Good 2 watch b4i got Dominic, & great 2 watch now i have him because i can see the points you are making, i see those things in him, hes now adjusted, hope im not moving things 2 fast 4 him, he WILL have a new cage shortly, its been 4 months now, he has ALWAYS been great 2 handle, i let him roam (While watching), but bigger spaces is better more exciting places
Well just throwing my 2 cents in right away.. I use repti bark I live in Canada 🇨🇦 Eh !! 🤭 I've noticed his humidity has been on the rise the past couple weeks, BUT he also had a shed, so it was KINDA ok.. Well I'm going to get a DE~HUMIDIFIER TOMORROW. my next big purchase 4 him will be (Because I can't find anything I like online), and BOB u seem 2 have all the good stuff ,you have taught me so0 much aswell as Lori TORRELLI, she's awsome too.. But I'm looking to get a black box cage will be my next purchase, but bob...lol U HAFTA PROMISE ME A GREEN ROOM STICKER.. 💚🐍💚 ✌️😎 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
As much as I would love to take my snake outside, it just gives opl a eye out on Ooohhh A snake... What eltse kinda kool stuff does she have in her place....let's break in..... NOT... my guy has his home, room , & enclosure, I don't need 2 show him off 2 strangers.. 🐍💚🐍
I know you said the amount of gallons a ball Python tank need to be but when i go on black box cages its in length height and depth im not the smartest person so can you tell me what size i need to get for my adult ball python in length height and depth
I don't ever measure snake enclosures in gallons because, in my opinion, it's best to not have them in a fish tank - and you won't be filling the cage with water. In general, for an adult ball python, you'll want them in a 4x2x2 PVC cage or larger. My ball python care guide will help you
In the reptile breeding communities, we use grams as a standard weight measurement. If someone outside that community is asking me, I'll give the answer in pounds.
My baby has been missing for over a week now and i feel like an idiot because i fell asleep cuddling with her. I have searched everywhere upstairs all the rooms downstairs ect. Im starting to worry she might of gotten outside because the last time she got out I was searching through stuff under the house not even looking for her and i found her in a box of stored away Christmas decorations. When she got out we were on the second floor and some how she got under the house. I hope she is inside our house and not under the house again
I was allergic to cats and dogs as a kid so I had snakes and lizards. I find snakes really calming for the most part depending on species. I think most boas would make a good emotional support snake too.
I always be feeling so bad when my snake tries biting or hissing at me I always feel like a bad owner yet ppl say it’s normal behavior, idk tho cuz it’s been a couple months, first she was ok but then she got defense in a couple weeks idk what to do bc nothing is working when I handle her, she’s js always scared of me idk
My BP probably didn't require hook training bit I used to be scared of snakes so when we first got him hook training him and noticing the shift once it clicked for him helped me be more confident until I wasn't afraid anymore. He still knows that hook means handle and taps mean food.
I just got a snake in the mail today when it came in it had gotten out of the tub and was veryyy defensive struck me twice I put the snake in her enclosure how long should I wait before attempting to handle her? It’s a ball python 4 months old
So we just got our first snake and we are giving him a week to get use to his new home. I have changed his water and opened his enclosure a couple times since we brought him home and he just seems super tense, which is expected. My question is, after that week, even if he is still showing signs of discomfort and stress, is it ok to pick him up and handle him for a short period of time or should I give him a little more time to acclimate? I know you have said to slowly make your presence known little by little, moving around enrichment pieces and such. I just didn’t know if it’s a good idea to attempt to pickup a snake that shows obvious signs of discomfort. He hasn’t attempted to strike which is a good sign.
It's fascinating because it's about perspective, the core of understanding any being, natural forces, cultural perspective of others etc. I'm a lover of perspective! A bridge to knowledge and connecting!
So amazing to watch your growth! I've been here since you only had 2k subscribers, and now you have 63k 😨 I love your videos and I'm so happy to see all your success ! Keep it up 😁
I don't do it with ball pythons anymore because it's not necessary and takes more time when I'm trying to feed a bunch of snakes. I do it with other species though and it works great
Awesome fun video. Iv watched a short documentary of denver airport, funny conspiracy stuff. Future Bob is so funny and knowledgeable. Reticfest looks like a great time!
When you have a bioactive setup that ideally has springtails and isopods, and springtails are jumpy little escape artists, why don't people use booklice instead of springtails? As booklice eat mould as well, they're harmless, and they don't jump? I didn't find a single post on booklice at all, so is there a reason? Also 'aesthetically pleasing', my snakes all have ceramic dog bowls that say 'good boy'. 😅
I just purchased a snake a few days ago so I'm very new to your channel. I love the fact that you hand write all your supporters names, instead of simply copying them into a 2-3 second slide like a lot of other creators
Reach out Reptiles really stands out to me as a great part of the community. I doubt I’ll ever keep retics myself, but they are amazing. Thanks for taking us along, Bob!
Man, Karma is so pretty! Her colors almost glow in the sun. I would love a SD Retic, but alas, I don't have the space or budget for one. Maybe one day...
These two are🔥for podcasts. Comfortable and effortlessly funny. It's funny that scripted talk shows employ professional writers to try to simulate this kind of interaction.
The biggest retic I've seen out and being handled in person is a 16 footer, Karma is like 3 of that snake. That retic was also super chill, was fine with kids touching it. It seems like a lot of the reputation of retics being food aggressive is mainly when they're in their enclosure. Almost like the typical behavior of a king or milk when first going into the enclosure, you watch their head to see if they are considering giving your fingers a taste test, though obviously with a big retic that behavior is much more consequential since a retic giving your hand a taste test is probably going to require stiches.
Probably depends on how tamed out that particular Blood Python is. From everything I've seen retics are usually more chill once out of the enclosure. Also every Blood Python I've seen in person has been as thick as a fire hose, VERY thick for their length, maybe thicker than even Womas or Dumerils Boas.
Help! my mom said my bp finished shedding and it was feeding week so we bought a live rat and the I take his log out and he wasn’t finished so I have a live rat should I put it in there during shed or should I keep the rat in the bag
I had a young Red Tailed Boa on that lived most of the time on my Stereo. I had an old Teac Reel to Reel that was warm and she just loved it. That was in the seventies.
