My dear you are simply amazing. What a treat for our ears. Dinah, Billie, Ella and Sarah are applauding from the heavens. ❤️. Continued success in your career.
Very refreshing to hear a young singer who doesn't sing like Beyonce, Brandi, Rihanna or Jennifer Hudson... Nothing against those four but this style of singing is becoming a lost art. Thanks to this young lady Samara Joy it's not lost yet.
My sentiments exactly...perfect diction, phrasing and the introduction of VERSES to classic songs. Samara Joy your STAR is shining brightly. My debut CD QUIETLY is 25 years this year and I explored 17 Ballads with VERSES. Thank you for exposing a new generation to when songs had depth and substance!!! Congratulations Lovely Lady...you are a JOY to behold.
Lovely, lovely young lady...You are indeed living up to your family name - Joy! I just heard your recordings for the first time in Austin, Texas. I was gobsmacked and delighted, renewed and excited that in a time of such pain and difficulty for our nation, you are bringing such lovely energy and love to the world...the world needs what you are doing. May God keep you, and thank you for sharing your lovely voice. Your fan, Lane.
A serious vocal talent.. Definitely a natural relating to a long gone golden day in jazz. Amazing that she's so young! Can't wait to hear her when she decides to spread her wings!!! Definitely a rare gem...
This young, black, beautiful talent is what the world needs. Keep singing Samara, you bring JOY to the world with your gift. God has blessed you tremendously!
I just found you this week. My God! Such a tremendous voice. You reminds ne Sarah Vaughan, my favourite jazz singer. God bless you, Samantha. Don't let us without your songs!
So glad I watched the Grammys this year !! Once they showed you winning and I heard your voice I turned off the Grammys and came to RU-vid to listen to more of you! ❤ and wow your voice is amazing!!!!!
Just when I thought there would never be another Ella, Sarah, Carmen and all the other greats that this magnificent voice is channeling. So nice to hear someone with a great voice. Keep it up and you will go far. I'll be promoting her wherever I go.
I already am? Have you heard of this Phenomenal Jazz Vocalist named Samara Joy? You’ve got to hear her! And so on and so on; even to the point of pulling out my phone and giving them a listen. 😊
When I listen to the great singers of old, I somwtimes wonder what it must have been like to been there when they first became known aa their star began to rise. Now I know. This is fine singing. Lovely contralto. Beautiful timbre. Pure quality.
I was about to die from an overdose in my apartment in Miami all alone after so many different drugs…I went to grab my phone and I couldn’t even see what I pressed and out of no where RU-vid started and this song played. My heart was beating out of my chest and then the room turned white and I felt at peace. My heart slowed down and I survived. Jesus Christ is real people. He saved my life.
Perhaps the best YOUNG jazz singer. But Sheila Jordan is still alive - and performing AT 95!!!!!!!! Jordan, to be sure, always had a very small voice. She knew exactly what to do with it, however. And still does. I last heard her in New York City a few months ago. You can't compare Samara with Sheila. You can't compare anyone with Sheila. She is iconic (overused word, but not for Sheila Jordan), inimitable, and peerless. Samara Joy belongs to another realm of singing. But I won't belabor this. She is just splendid, a true pleasure to listen to.
Samara, prepare for amazing things, you are amazing!!! I don't even understand how you have had time to learn all this beauty and pure jazz soul.💜 I am expecting a meteoric rise to fame and I hope you will honour us in Ireland 💚 with your Ella like talent, one day soon. You are Truly Blessed! 💗🇨🇮🍀👏🎼
A friend from England sent one of your videos to me in California. I was stunned. It is like Sara Vaughn and Ella combined. I am SO impressed. Love it love it love it ! Subscribed !
You are wonderfully gifted songstress and your voice fills me with such appreciation that I have ears to hear, and a heart to resonate with! Bless you! Thanks given!🌊🎶❤️
Where in the world did this young lady come from with her lovely, lilting voide reminiscent of a young and present day Sarah Vaughn or Ella Fitzgerald. Well, we may get only one in a century, and I'm so glad I have been able to witness both in my lifetime. What about anyone else out there? Loving and loving and loving it!
I think everything I want to say about this lady's singing has been already said. Her tonal qualities are so reminiscent of the late great Ella Fitzgerald.
LOVE HER! There is such pleasure in hearing a really good jazz voice. Tears brimming. Went back to listen to an old favorite, Etta Jones, for quality check. Yep, no question: this young lady is the REAL thing. We needed this.
This is so very beautiful. I just received an email talking about her upcoming debut album on Verve and I came here to check out her music. I am sold!!! She definitely will be in the ranks of classic vocalists in the coming years.
I like the clarity of Samara Joy's voice along with her phrasing. She has a lovely command of the American songbook. I look forward to hearing how she matures and changes through the coming years.
I can’t stop listening to Samara! God given gift! I’m so glad my friends and I went to see her in Scottsdale! Can’t wait for her to come back to Arizona!
I just heard about you and you have a fan for life your voice is extraordinary so smooth so elegant so classy and to be so young I salute you beautiful woman may God continue to bless you and you touch the hearts of all the old timers that enjoy this kind of music as myself at 65 brought up as a young girl listening to this kind of music thank you for appreciating that kind of music
Hopefully this young will refrese the jazz genre. Sara, Ella, Dinah, Nancy were song 🎵 stylists taking standards, verses and all, making them their own. "Guess Who I Saw Today" is a perfect example! You go girl 👏!!
