@ThyPeasantSlayer I didn’t serve in Afghanistan but it does remind me of my time in the Donbas. I was once proud of my nation but now i only feel shame and guilt.
@@user-bc5mv2ot8k I've heard of that. Hows situation going on in Donbas? Did everyone actually get evacuated?? How can you access youtube if Russia has set up signal jammers?
My version of the lyrics' translation (It's) The sky (that) is melting with earth And a lead blizzard is roaring It's fierce February, the 7th day Kandahar The reconnaissance/intelligence unit of the regiment is on defense positions Just 78 guys They, along with the airport have an order: "To stand through (the battle)" Senior lieutenant Izvekov has a mission in life: To baptize the shuravi [Afghan nickname for the soviet soldiers]. [baptizing in this case probably means going with them to their maiden (first) battle, not that the Sen. Lieutenant is a priest] Entrust yourself to him, entrust Oh, God He can swear point-blank And accept the lead pay [he is ready to be shot] In the order he'll receive a conviction: "Kandahar" The intelligence has a specifical style And Allah is not Akbar at all for them (for the intelligence) But Kandahar won't forgive it (to the intelligence) Already, a couple of wild attacks have drowned with dumb silence, But the planes are taking off and taking off behind the back. A loner of the airborne troops is holding up well against several thousand barrels, And you don't have to write unnecessary words in the order And the commander is contented and proud, and there isn't a single loss (of life) This means that Leha has [the shortened name Alexey] baptized the lads well Maybe in this is the officer’s prestige, the secret meaning of the commander's bravados, So that the telnichki [striped white & blue sailor's shirts, in Russia, they are also worn by the airborne troops] were only painted by blueness (of the sky). Cover with his own body the door cracked ajar to heaven from the soldiers, And get the squad to base without losses Maybe the officer’s honor is in carrying the weight of war on their shoulders, Not whining, not pushing to become heroes, and keeping silent. Like (when) he covered the fighters at the order "retreat" spraying bullets indiscriminately, Like (when) he was last to leave that February. And then there will be the march to the Union, and Khreshchatyk [Central street of Kiev] , and Stariy Podol [Kiev's historic city center], Where a reconnaissance soldier has a minus and a plus, (where is) his father’s house. And then there will be ID's [probably, what's meant, are the ID's proving that you've been in combat (cause veterans can get advantages like prioritary surgical treatment, a higher pension, etc), but could also mean any other documentation related to setting up a life outside of Afghanistan] and medals and violent soul ache, Where hope will leave like a wife, (but) all of this will be later, all later As for now, bite into concrete and stuff knapsacks with sand. Who are intelligence unit fighters in defense? (They are) ones ready to die Yet again the observation post signals the approach of the enemy And a week (remains) until the withdrawal of troops, Kandahar
Yes, they had very similar stories in Afghanistan, fighting the same enemy. Some of the footage of the americans was also from Kandahar, from this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qLWiNKQ-jLI.html . Two tragic wars, much respect to veterans of both.
@@Avlastar Think the main issue here is cultural difference in our taste in music. In the west we mostly have country/blues or rock music for anti-war songs while Russian arts are mostly just...... a whole heap of depression on pretty much every medium.
@@Avlastar Ya know what? A friend literally sent me this song just a couple days after so you're in luck. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IjsQQGSL4Zw.html&ab_channel=MajorSamm
"Где надежда уйдёт как жена" *me 2 months into a deployment and watching almost every remaining marriage in the platoon fell apart Well, that hit rather close to home...
"Все подом... все подом!" I often remember this line. I don't know why, but I find them so powerful... I tell the same to myself; maybe it's like a general way of coping with troubles that await you in life, that this narator knows well.
not really, China is currently paying lip service to the Taliban while it is wary due to ETIM (Uyghur secessionists) in the region. more likely Recep Tayiip Erdogan will justify (seems so atm) since his popularity rating is being tested
@@User-dc6sm ethnic Tajiks predominantly served in the Afghan National Army, this isn't surprising. There's been a recent Tajikistan and China deterrance drill, but this was expected.
I think he is talking about not because the Afghans could not win the war, but that Afghanistan is not a peaceful place where people who follow a supreme god live, but a hellish place.
Convoy of military tankers was attacked by the Mujahideen. Several people survived. A combined detachment of Soviet and Afghan soldiers came to their aid.
Lástima que todos los “países del este” cometieron los errores de los advertía Lenin y contra los que luchó Stalin. Hoy Alemania es una completa Colonia del Imperio.
