My mother told me that when she was a child in the 50's our family were haunted for "penny for the black baby" money by the Church....when my Grandmother and Great Grandmother struggled to feed their own children....utter and complete blx it still goes on today.... Look after your own.

You're so right, remember my mother gathering together the penny for the black babies every week, often leaving us wanting, but shame on you if you didn't cough up, my dad then said my god they must be hairy arsed babies by now because since I was a gosin they've been given a penny each week, when I went to school it was six pence, but still called penny for the black babies, then my kids went to school and had penny for the black babies weekly and then the croceire box every Easter, now I've grand children and they're still collecting for the black babies, seems to me after 70yrs of giving the problem is as big as ever, people collecting all these pennies seem to have done very well for themselves, the black babies look the very same, somebody needs to look into this big time
One thing we NEVER DID was emigrate to a country and immediately put our hands out or tell the host community how to live their life . I would suggest people just need to be honest and say we do not want to have these unknown people in our country. If you say its just about services and then the government adds the services, then your argument is gone. I just watched a video from an IPAS center of a migrant from Sudan who was practically frothing at the mouth with hate at Irish people because he was blaming us for the misfortune of his country. He sees us as foreign colonisers. I certainly do not want him walking the streets of our small town, he is obviously a radical and dangerous.
I've suspected for a while that some agent, maybe some of the many NGOs, have groomed some incomers with some fake history of the Irish. It will be under the cultural Marxist topics with oppressed and oppressor, white man bad, the whole kaboodle. I have no proof of this but how else can incomers land in Ireland and confidently demand free stuff while nothing is given to the Irish who are paying or the entire system? If they are told by the saintly workers in the NGOs that the white man (all white men in all countries) plundered Africa, India etc. and built their white countries via exploitation of their countries, then these migrants might learn a false sense of entitlement. The white man and woman somehow "owe" these incomers some kind of uncalculated and incalculable compensation. But Ireland, of course, has no history of empire, plunder or slavery. On the contrary, Ireland was oppressed by the English. Irish people of Baltimore were themselves taken from their town as slaves to (I think) the Barbary pirates. Does Ireland whinge and demand compensation from those Muslim countries? The slaves never made it back. But the history of whites as slaves is rarely taught. The accusation of racism or xenophobia towards people who say "We can't support any more coming in. Sorry, we were crumbling before the current waves of m.i.g.r.@.n.t.s." is something that all EU countries and England have had to suffer since 2015 when this planned movement of people began in serious numbers. None of us are racist, xenophobic or anything of the sort. We just can't allow absurdly large numbers of economic migrants to flood us. This is our motherland and too many new people arriving with not enough resources available is causing concern, anxiety and the worry about how big the bill is for all other freebies.

The reason that the Arab nations refuse to take in any Palestinian refugees is that they cause chaos wherever they go and have a nasty habit of trying to overthrow the host nations government. They have done this in Jordan were they tried to assassinate the King and take over the country, then in Lebanon they took part in the civil war which devastated the county to this day, in Kuwait they sided with the Iraqi invaders and were later expelled, in Egypt they launched terrorist attacks hence the huge border wall.

A couple of year's ago people were not happy that Mayo was underpopulated. Now that you have a chance to bring new people in, this will lead to more funding and services will improve. What's not to like ?.
People are not interchangeable cogs. If you emptied Japan tomorrow and replaced them with Ugandans, it would turn in to a dysfunctional African country. The unique people native to a place are what makes it. People were unhappy about high rates of youths having leaving Mayo, having no chance to set up a life there, not 'underpopulation'.
