Ballinbreich Castle - Fife
This 14th century tower house sits on the banks of the Firth of Tay close by to Newburgh. The three-story L-plan styled castle is a scheduled monument and much of the structure to date is 16th century. The castle was home to the Earl of Rothes.
If you are planning a visit, The farmer has cleared a space large enough to accomodate 2 cars on the road, opposite to the entrance to the farm that the castle is located beside. I also asked his permission to go along the field to visit the castle. He informed me that he keeps a track through the field so people can visit, but you may still want to ask to be polite.
