Ballincollig Gunpowder mills Visitor centre 

The centre is still closed but the buildings within are still quite easily accessed,its as easy as walking along a dry riverbed.There are 3 buildings still up in there AFAIK; 2 Dome like storage structures ,and a rebuilt wooden room with a functioning milling/grinding apparatus.one of the dome structures is still accessible via a breach in its wall,and the wooden structure is boarded up and fenced off but still enterable if you are up to a bit of acrobatics.I hope this is of help

I agree, this should be re-opened, what is the current status? I find it hard to believe that such a historical site, probably the one big historical site in Ballincollig be treated as such.... I too have relatives that worked there before coming to America.

What is the current status? I live in the US, but my ancestor worked at the gunpowder mill before emigrating to America. Could take up a collection amongst his (many) descendants in the Cincinnati area...
